Brian Auger is a fantastic keyboard player, he is really underrated. His Oblivion Express was groovy as hell and always in the pocket. Alex Ligertwood is a unique singer too, he always feeling it. Thanks for posting this, the early 70's were the best years for music !....
you are dead right, the music of early 70´s was the very best. I met mr.Auger in Barcelona in 2009 before a gig, I was able to talk to him(my hero) and not only is he an exceptional musician but he is a wonderful person. long life to those who listen to good music and not this rubish that is on nowadays, greeting from down south Barcelona.
I bought all those Oblivion Express records back in the day and played the hell out of them. Great band and was pleased to know them since they were not very well known back then, and probably even less now. Nevertheless, the were a wonderful group and blended rock and jazz effortlessly.
I did as well, I saw them close to University of Connecticut, a bar. Now his son plays drums, daughter sings. One of my favorites. Yes, jazz w/fusion. One of remaining B-3 players. I am not sure he still tours. I have almost everything he did. Important to know he played on many other bands as well as his own. Grateful I saw him once
MAMA MIA! Do I hear Brian Auger imitating Keith Emerson or was Keith nicking these lines from Brian Auger ? Sounds like a crossing between a funk band and ELP...This is an absolute GEM!
Brian and Keith were very close friends for years, but Brian was playing organ first..about 1966 Keith walked into The Marquee and saw Brian playing Jack McDuffs Rock Candy and was blown away and thought ‘I want to play like that!’
i play horns all my life. On the Big Island of Hawaii, I play with quality musicians. I played this for my fav guitar player here on the Island. HE WAS/IS STUNNED!! He commented with excitement: "When space scientists send a time capsule into outer space.... they must include music from Brian Auger, that way outer spacers that find the time capsule will know how incredible advanced Earth's music is". This music is ultra EPIC. Thank you forever, Brian and friends.
I Was Blessed to get with Tower of power for Awhile 🎸w/Lenny Picket 🎷Dave Garibalde🥁Rocco Prestia🕺"Back To Oakland". I co-engineered That album. Bob Lentini was genius |Engineer and I will be ever grateful for the greatest experience Emilio's Spiritual awakening was on the road. StanleyG. 👼. Terry Kath and I became friends 🎸🎸in those years. Brian is one of best B-3 players left. I as well had all Oblivion Express LPs. Now cds. I wore them out. He’s still playing with son on drums, daughter on vocals. He’s a session man on many other LPs/cds
What a pointless and unnecessary comment. And the irony is that Brian has aged very well, and is incredibly fit and active for a guy of his current age, so clearly those alleged drinks and cigarettes did him no harm!

I prefer Auger's playing over that of Emerson. The sound and feel are more soulful to me.
Exactly

Always felt it was his best album. Start to finish. Every song. By the way, isn’t this video just cool? Come on now. Tell the Truth.

Jim Mullen on guitar
Great player, I've seen him in a straight jazz setting and he was wonderful.
@@bobgreen623 AND HE PLAYS WITH HIS THUMB!!!
Ligertwood🤩
congratulacions
La sicodelia de Auger.
Fantastic jim Mullen ecoutez pete Brown & piblokto thousands on a raft
Brave attempt to continue without Julie Driscoll. Which inevitably failed.
Brian Augar looks more 42 than 32yrs old, which is without doubt as a result of the hard life late nights drink & cigarettes in jazz clubs life.
are you like a walking breathing Chick tract?
