@@RRaymer our army is too small, and we don't have the hardware to compete. There are nearly more migrants in this country than British troops. We haven't the capability to build our own munitions anymore, for a full scale war!

I am a parachute soldier, and it draws my attention when one or more companions help a parachute soldier in adjusting his equipment. That is an exclusively personal action, out of decorum and military solvency. In the Army I serve, paratroopers put on the equipment and secure it alone, alone! It is worth the occasion to express: The object of a soldier is not to "Die for the country", but to make enemy soldiers die for theirs. Finally, a soldier is trained to fight, and not to die; However, we are absolutely aware that we can die as a result of combat or battle. "Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori."

Hi, I see that the Gungie Third (3 Para) finally got to get a few jumps in. There seems to be a lot of Penguins in the Battalion and it’s nice that they are getting a chance to earn their wings thanks to the the Americans. Cheers mate Harera

What do Paratroopers do with all that parachute equipment after landing? Do they have to lug it around along with everything else on to the objective?
Depends what you are doing , if in peace time and on a jump with no equipment beneath you ie rations ,weapons,food and ammo you would pack your parachute and hump it off the DZ to a collection point and a team would collect it However, if you had you’re equipment with you would quickly drag your chute into your bag and leave it where you landed then all your kit on and carry on with the exercise whilst again later a team would clear the DZ . If in war you might drag it away in to cover but I suppose if the enemy where firing at you you would just dump it . I don’t know what they do now I left in 96 after 22 years but I believe nothing much will have changed.

Had a friend in the R Marines who used to stick a handkerchief in the man in front just before he exited the aircraft and say , ' What's this .' ! He died parachuting on exercise dropping into a canal.
I know their exercises but these guys just look like their preparing for war, it’s not very often you see camouflage on the faces. Plus PM Rishi sunak talking about Bunker drills. I would love someone to tell the civilians what’s going on and tell us to prepare or not.

Fantastic training, but next to no decent equipment. All we have is a quick reaction force . 2 fairly new Carriers but no ships to protect them . We're living off of past glories . Our brave forces are let down by either ineptitude or criminal politicians who can't help but stick their noses in to other people's wars without consulting the people of the country.

What makes Paras effective is how unit performs on the ground. Russian military is sending untrained mob to die in Ukraine, sad for those poor souls.
Artillary and armour do the k-lling, not infantry.
Infantry take care of the leftovers.
Besides all Western armies are now woke, and weak. You are thinking of the British army of the 80s. Not to mention that numbers matter, and a larger, less trained force will beat a small highly trained one.
The glory days of Western armies has come and gone.
