  • British forces are taking part in Nato's largest military exercise for decades off the coast of Norway.
The drills, which began on Sunday, come days after Sweden was officially welcomed into the alliance.
A total of 13 Nato members - including the United States plus new additions Finland and Sweden - are taking part in the exercise, which has been codenamed Steadfast Defender 24.

@@andriesgeyser5524 I don't understand their logic, honestly,I am scratching my head trying to make sence of their mindset...To expand a bit on my dilemma, the whole of the viking nations can muster a total of roughly 55,700 profesional trained troops/armed forces(Army, navy, special forces, air forces and auxiliary personal combined)The number seems to vary from one source to another, but most sources state the armed forces of Finland as totaling 24,000;Norway 17,185;Sweden 14,600 and Denmark 14,500... And although nobody is debating the quality of their gear, motivation, training and overall troop quality(we can all agree the vikings are damn fine soldiers),I am a tad reserved to what a 27,000 combined army can bring to the NATO table(?),especially not at the atrition scale that Nato is expected to have in the upcoming fight in Ukraine, and especially since all of Scandinavia adopted a purely defensive military doctrine a long, long time ago; They are not trained as offensive forces and where never ment to enter any alliance, albeit NATO or the Soviet Union(the swedes have managed to stay neutral since the napoleonic wars some 200 + yrs ),and how ironic that a day after the anouncement of Sweden and Finland being accepted into NATO ,on the 26 feb 2024 president E. Macron "unilateraly" announces that France will send troops in Ukraine in order to reinforce and stabilize the front Odessa,Kharkiv and Kiev, thus triggering the start of a conventional war with Russia and making all NATO countries fair game(Officialy Sweden and Finland are NATO members since 7th of march)...To put it different, you guys where suckered into joining NATO at the worst possible time ,and, make no mistake, in the impending war against "Ivan" you're lads, along side many others, will serve as cannon fodder and bring abouts extinction in a region ,that was otherwise, outside of the target zone of any potential conflict with the ruskyes...If that is a feat to celebrate ,then I am lost for words, and if you trully count your laurels for this marvelous achievement and consider yourself safer and lucky to be covered by NATO's infamous art. 5 ,think again...Sweden is on the brink of civil war with it's suicidal inclusive politics, they have managed to,somehow, allow illegal migrants of african and middle-eastern(all Islamic) origin to reside in country that now constitutes 25% of it's entire population of 10,42 mil/pax...The grand majority of them are nothing but trouble and would rather fight against the, then for the country. If u add the swedes who are borned of at least one foreign parent ,live on benefits and want nothing to do with the country the percentage goes up to 32%.Based on those numbers alone and you're celebrated NATO allegiance, and subsequent commitment of you're armed forces and active reserves to yankee general staff and interests(let's be honnest NATO is run by US),will mean that in the forseable near future the whole of Scandinavia in the best case scenario, will have only black vikings left;Because ignorance is bliss.

To be honest, one of the reasons trumps isolationism attitude is gaining traction in America, is because many of our Allies treat us like war dogs and forget we are an actual country with people and not just a military to use and then treat like trash when you don’t need us anymore. This is not the case with Sweden and Poland. They actually treat us like partners rather than pretending to be our ally like the UK. We see how the UK treats and regards Americans and it makes us feel like trash. Yes we have a big military but don’t forget we are a people too. I support Ukraine and NATO, but places like the UK we often see look down and treat American soldiers and citizens like disposable war tools. They talk about our poor education and healthcare, not realizing that every time we try to pass a bill to improve it, they get overshadowed by global conflicts and military aid. I’ve even heard some British people say America is nothing more than a military. You have forgotten we are people who only want to support Allies who actually treat us as allies. Shoutout to Sweden and Poland for treating us with respect and comradery. 🇺🇸❤️🇵🇱❤️🇸🇪

European nations need to invest in defense to protect their respective populations, not the sparsely-populated Nordics on the periphery geographically. There's really not that much worth protecting that far north. It's bleak generally. The Nordic peninsula needs to be evacuated, before it becomes a battlefield. Otherwise there is a real risk of Nordic nations, the least self-sufficient nations in the world due to unfortunate geography and miserable climate, risk becoming humanitarian crises withing months of a wider war unfolding, which is actually looking increasingly likely.
