he was great, loved his voice, humor, and such a terrific man, he is so missed, nice tribute to an incredible talent - thanks for 20 yrs. of laughs Alan, his work really made Letterman look great
Alan Kalter was the funniest and most charismatic announcer in the history of television. Thanks for all of the outrageous laughter that you blessed us with 'Big RED'.
Big Red was simply the best. If I’ve ever felt down, I knew watching any Kalter late show bit would have me in stitches. I’m sure many of his sketches aren’t even on the internet, but they live in people’s memory. Memories of Kalter on the late show make me smile to this day. Alan was a great and very underrated sketch comedian (apart from being an amazing announcer). Him, Paul, & Dave were the main players of an awesome show. Every time Alan appeared on the late show, whether it was a bit or just regular conversation, I just knew I was in for a blast. May you rest in peace Mr. Alan Kalter. Thank you for so many good times!
This was a very funny man. Will never forget Alan Kalter's Celebrity Interviews and hearing him say " Thats exactly what you did suckhole" to Dave. Great voice-funny man-loads of talent and timing. He will be sorely missed.
This was a wonderfully kind story about a wonderfully gifted performer. Alan’s voice was synonymous with Dave’s show and Alan’s enthusiastic performances helped make the show as good as it was. Alan will be missed.
Most of us remember Alan as the voice of USA Network in the ‘80s and ‘90s; before that, he was also announcer on The $128,000 Question and To Tell The Truth with Alex Trebek and Joe Garagiola respectively.
Alan had a wicked sense of humor, and every sketch he did on Letterman, you could tell the writers absolutely loved writing for him. RIP to the greatest announcer of all time.
I would lose it every time Alan would start in on his "Celebrity Interview" skit: (Music: 5 seconds of "Hooray for Hollywood") DAVE: "Take it away, Alan!" ALAN: (awkward silence, Alan shaking his head in disgust) "You did it to me again..." DAVE: "I'm sorry?" ALAN: "You did it to me AGAIN." DAVE: "I don't know what you're talking about." ALAN (mocking Dave) "I don't know what you're talking about...Hey, you got a pencil?" DAVE: "Yeah, I've got a pencil, right here." ALAN: "Write this down, A**hole...If you EVER steal Big Red's thunder again..." ..........omg it had me in stitches. So well-delivered. Rest in Peace, funny man with the booming voice.
Alan Kalter was terrific. He was a teacher, an announcer, voice-over actor, commercial spokesperson and entertainer. When Alan was in a bit, I knew it was going to be laugh out loud funny and always was. Thanks for sharing.
I’m so very sad to know this. Alan was absolutely terrific. He was hilarious! And so likable and such a pro . He was more than worthy of being on with Dave and being a part of that amazing show - which is saying something. I couldn’t wait each night to hear Alan open up that show. I miss that show so much and Alan with it. Sincere condolences to his loved ones and friends. You will be missed, Alan. ❤️🙏🏻
@@loafandjug321 Yeah, I have filmed and preserved countless hours of my brother and I sitting in front of a television in the '90s and '00s watching Letterman so that I could prove to some cat on the Internet that I enjoyed Alan Kalter's comedy... strange.
@@loafandjug321 Im sure its just opinion. I would have added Rod Roddy, Charlie O'Donnell and Johnny Gilbert to this list. Although not TV, Id add Bob Sheppard as well.
God bless his kids and family. He was so funny and insane, but you could tell he was a kind soul under all that. I still laugh out loud at so many of his bits. Great memories of him cheering me up with insanity and rage.
Supposedly Wendell retired. But what REALLY happened was, Alan told Bill he wanted the job & Bill offered to fight him 4 it. Well, Alan kicked Bill's ahzzs in the alley out behind the Sullivan theater, & next thing u know, Alan was sitting in the booth!
