You’re making her eye sockets by “eyeballing it”. Hahaha!!! You crack me up! Love it!! 😍
😁😄😄 I didn't even think about that phrasing lol!
I noticed that too.
Lol only just saw we almost commented the exact same thing 😂
She is lovely! I think she lives a quiet life in her little cottage, happy in her solitude, until one stormy night there is a great CRASH as something hits the tower of her cottage. She puts down her book and goes to investigate to find an injured dragon in her back yard! The dragon, having fun fishing, misjudged the time and incoming storm and was caught in the storm at night while returning to his cave. A bolt of lightning stuck him and he dropped, striking the fairies tower as he fell to earth. The fairy helps the dragon heal and watches him fly off home after the storm passes. The dragon visits the fairy each time he flys out to fish, takes naps on her roof to ‘keep her company’ and tries to ‘help’ the lovely little old fairy. Some days the dragon would leave things he thinks she needs on her doorstep, a fat fish, a deer hide for warmth and one time he left apples...still attached to the tree! (Lets face it dragons cant reeeeally pick individual apples now can they 😂) Though she tells the dragon he doesn’t need to do these things and that she is fine, he doesn’t listen and continues to visit and spoil his little old fairy. She gives in and accepts that she now has a dragon friend. The grumpy look you see one her face is because her dragon has just landed on her roof again and has called out for her to ‘come and see what he has found for her!’ She just hopes it isn’t something slimy this time...
This such a lovely tale about the dragon and the old fairy it really feels like that is exactly what ara has created
oh my goodness I love this so much!! Such a sweet story💖💖
I ♡♡♡ this story
Genius! Thank you for helping me through lockdown madness. X
Wonderfullyexpressive!!!
just to hear "dollightful" makes me smile~
What an awesome fairy! I love the way you made her. Thanks for sharing.
I can't believe even the fairy's face was made from toilet paper 😂😂👍👍👍
The materials are extremely cheap but your hard works are never be worthless🔥🔥
Thank you so much 😀 I really appreciate that!
@@BentleyHouseMinis Where is the link for the hands
Oh my goodness, didn't realise she was completely made from recyclable materials, including the face! Such a well done job! Thanks for sharing!
edit: next time for combing out the hair, use a metal pet brush, works wonders!
Thank you! 😊 I will have to look and see if we have one 👍
@@BentleyHouseMinis You can pick them up at the Dollar Store in the pet aisle!
Love the Fairy. I think she needs some glitter on her wings. Love her hair especially. Keep up with the bloopers! 😀
I think she is like a "mentor" fairy. She is older, and has mentored many many young fairies. She has taught them well, and is proud of them. However, she is annoyed that none of them come to visit her anymore. Maybe she has an album full of their pics, or maybe she has pics of them all over the house, to try and keep them close, and she looks at them all the time. She doesnt have children of her own, so these are her kids. She doesnt have a husband either, so when her tower collapses from a strike of lightening, she has no way to fix it. She wishes some of her fairy children would come help her. (She looks amazing Ara!)
Fun back story! Thank you Kathleen!
Once again. FANTASTIC. CLEVER. BEAUTIFUL. And... did you EVER think we would live in a time when one had to explain one's use of toilet paper?!?!?!?!
😄😄 It's strange times for sure! I didn't see any backlash so either I explained it well or everyone is back to normal TP rations now. Thank you for the kind words my friend!💖
A TP fairy with a heart of tin foil..........................I ask you, who else on this wondrous planet would, not only conceive of this, but actually create it? She shall ever be enthroned in my heart and mind as "Auntie Periwinkle"..............baker of THE most amazing Says-a-Me scones.......................
Thank you for brightening my day!
💖💖💖
OMG!! She's alive!! She's alive!! LOLOL What a terrific job! Once you started painting in her eyes, you can almost see her coming alive. Such patience you have. I also have patience but certainly NOT for the teeny tiny stuff you do! You are truly an artist! Have a great day and hugs from Canada.
Thank you so much! You have a great day too!
I love her so much, ive never seen an old lady fairy, shes so special!
I found your page by mistake...or should that be fate!.. yep, fate brought me to you and I'm so pleased to be here...you're so talented and as such you've made a fairy and miniature house convert. I know have the makings of a small fairy village 💜💜💜...now to have a go at making a fairy in the manner you have...you're an inspiration 👍💜
Yay for fate! Welcome to the channel Dee and happy creating!
Eyeballing the eye sockets 😂 Ara you crack me up😅. Loving this grumpy fairy ❤
She’s so cute 😍 A tip for making yarn hair: use a pet brush to comb it out, it works much better and if you want straight hair use a hair straightener on low setting or pour boiling water on the strand (hair straightener works better), also 100% acrylic yarn works best. Sincerely Doll Customizer 😉
Thank you so much! I will try that!
I'm so glad she mentioned Dollightful, I absolutely love and follow that channel as well!
I love it, I think she might be my fairy persona 🧚🏻♂️ my favorite color is periwinkle and I love fairies but I’m a bit grumpy as well 😂
And your screen name matches as well! Perfect!
Je suis COMPLÈTEMENT ESTOMAQUÉ ! FÉLICITATIONS ! Vraiment TOUT est possible avec toi ! J'ADORE !
Tip for the yarn hair is to use a petbrush, and then when you’ve brushed it out, to use a straightening iron, a regular one, and then it will be straight hair :) i use it for yarn all the time
She’s wonderful, your elderly fairy! You did such a great job with the materials and she looks disgruntled! I think she’s waiting for her dragon to get back with her shopping - it is lockdown after all!
😄😄
Wow....Toilet paper and glue. I would not have thought you could make a proper face out of that. I is impressed! I love that whispy hair! The step that makes it straight is a hair straightening iron. Though it seemed you did well without it. :) She looks like she fits that house quite well. Toilet paper fairy. That just...cracks me up. Maybe she's annoyed because of the toilet paper shortage becase she has to grant all those 'extra roll' wishes.
😄😄💖 I will def try the straightener next time!
She reminds me of the Marvelous Mad Madam Mim (Sword in the Stone), who my son says reminds him of me. (I'm okay with that, I am a bit like her and Winnie Sanderson).
With the yarn hair, start off with a pet brush and then use hair straighteners to straighten it. I also watch Hextian and he makes yarn hair this way.
Oh a straightener... I will def do that next time!! His dolls are so amazing too... I should have gone back to rewatch a few episodes before attempting the yarn hair lol!
You did such an incredible job on her. She's awesome. I can't believe how great her face came out!! You're so talented. Using toilet paper to mold her face and such a tiny face at that, just so incredible and amazing. And her hands, that was brilliant. Her wings look so cool, I love how they came out too.! I love using yarn for hair, using a wire cat or pet brush is best.
She’s a perfect match to the house. And what’s incredible is she’s made out of scraps.❤️
She turned out wonderful and you are right, I love her hair as well.
Wonderful little annoyed fairy! I love how you are using recyclables to create this whole project! Have no idea of why she is annoyed...but I am sure you will come up with a good story for her!
Thank you! 😊
I love the way you made her..She nay be feeling unloved .So many younger fairies are off doing their own thing. They used to ask her for advice or visit her more often She liche the cardboard house because it holds the good memories.
I just love this whole project!
I'm simply mesmerized by watching you create things from seemingly nothing lol. I love the name Ms. Periwinkle Nightshade. Perhaps she's glum from a broken heart. When she was young her beau went off to make his fortune and promised to return for her but never did. She's not really mean just lonely. Then she finds an injured fairy dog (yes already watched the doghouse video lol) and nurses it back to health. Little does she know it's her beau who was cursed by an evil crone. Now how does she find this out? Then how to break the curse so they can be reunited and live happily ever after in the lovely cardboard house???
Love this story!! When I do write a story for this house I will have to come back and reread all these wonderful suggestions!
Oh Ara, I nearly peed my pants laughing at your outtakes.lol. I love Ms. Periwinkle Nightshade. I love purple and she’s definitely got a love for the colour too. You did a fantastic job on her. Are you planning on making more furniture for your cardboard home? You see, now that it’s lived in, it’s a home. Also I have seen people who used a plastic comb to comb out the yarn. It works pretty good with what I’ve watched. Thanks for sharing your talent with us all, I really appreciate you and all you have taught me in this short time. P.S. You must have a soothing voice because you put my almost three year old granddaughter to sleep on my lap as we were watching you build your fairy. Thanks for sharing your sleeping aide with me too. Ha ha ha.🥰
I am so glad you enjoyed the video my friend! 💖💖 Yes I definitely be making more furniture for the house. I have a fun bedroom suite planned out!! Tell your granddaughter I say hi!
That's awesome, from repurposed items, and how some have commented before to use dog slicker brush, now for the type of yarn that works best is acrylic, great creation, stay safe 😁😁😁👍👍👍
You made me giggle when you assured us you only used a minimum amount of toilet paper...we are able to buy some again here in Montana. tee hee! Loved your little fairy. You are a genius when it comes to figuring out how to create mini's. Love her little face and wings especially! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much! And I am so glad you are all restocked now too ;)
She is so cute. This technique seems so much easier then clay. For the hair, if you unbraid the yarn, use a wire cat brush to brush it out, then use a flat iron, the yarn will come out as straight hair. I've done that for a few of my bjds. As always love your work. Have a great and safe week
Thank you! I will definitely try out those tips for next time ;)
THANKS!!I JUST CAME FROM HER CHANNEL,THAT'S HOW I FOUND YOURS!! NAMASTE SIS!! XO
It's cool to see a figure created out of paper. I have several fashion figures about 20 years old made from straight and mache toilet paper. I didn't know what polymer clay was back then. The figures are still at my mom's house. Still use those materials today along with polymer. Sometimes the paper is just easier to achieve a certain look.
That's awesome! I did enjoy working with it for this lady ;)
Fabulous, really inventive - loved watching the whole meticulous process. Adore her hair, that worked brilliantly. I think she should have a sister though - that is always happy and cheerful - part of her back story could be that they've always been seen as opposites and that Mrs PW is really very kind, while the smilely happy fairy could be quite mean and exacting. Either way, another fabulous make.
Someone suggested that the dragon could be her sister and one of them got stuck during a shape shift😄😄 ... interesting idea! Thank you!
She came out so good
I just watched this again. I love this fairy. You did a wonderful job!
Suggestions:
1. Maybe add pointy ears, since fairies also have pointy elven ears.
2. Maybe make a cardboard disk and glue to the bottom of your cardboard criss cross, under the dress. This would 1. Give it more stability and you could also add your weights to it, to make it maybe easier. 2. The disk would also close off the bottom view, to hide all the inside guts, for those who are snoopy to look up her skirt. Just a couple ideas.
Using this video, maybe some fairy dragons possible. They look like tiny dragons with butterfly wings.
If you either use your sock chair tie die method or I was thinking silky butterfly/tie die color hanky/kerchief material and combine that with your fairy wing method.
Maybe the way you made the fairy hand cut out you could make scales out of paper or foam paper
Great tips! I think if I was ever to give this project away I would pay more attention to her skirt area! I like the idea for the fairy dragons too!💖
I just plain o love it, ms. Sharon is awesome. Thanks for being a blessing to the community. I like reuseing things. Blessings. Ms. Sharon is awesome too.
💖💖💖
I love her so much. I do think she could use a little belt around her dress, though, where you glued the fabric around her beneath her "bust".
Oh my she is delightful. To make the hair brush out with a pet brush, the finer prongs dig into the yarn to seperate them, using a higher wool content gives a better result. :) I think she is a bit grumpy due to her ingrown toe nails lol
You did a fabulous job on the hair! I make mohair wigs for porcelain dolls. I think that she is grumpy because her privacy has been breached and she wants every one to leave so as she can carry on with her own business. I haven' t figured out what it is yet but I'm sure some one will. But she does appreciate you for giving her substance.
Thank you for your compliment about the hair... I learned a lot from doing the Addams dolls and now I really enjoy the puzzle of figuring out how to make it look natural!
You make so many things seem possible 🤔🇦🇺🌍
Oh yeah I temporarily forgot I made a miniature steamer trunk from Sharon Ojala " Where the Gnomes live " tutorial. only I use cardboard, paper... and she did a dollar store wooden one makeover . I have a slideshow video of it on RUclips. I'm bad at remembering to record when I'm working, I bet everyone here can relate, u get inspired and you just start going! Blessings for everyone, take care!
She's so cute, love the hair part of the tutorial. I have quite a yarn stash, so lots of possibilities!
I think she’s perfect and suits the house beautifully 😀
She looks awesome. There is actually a way to make a clay type paper mache from cardboard if you boil it. Then you can cover it with newspaper or tp on this case
How beautiful she is.
With the yarn hair, I usually use a wire pet brush, and a hair straightener to smooth it down.
This turn out so beautiful. 🥰
Just magical to watch this process and to then see my name added to the Patreon list at the end has made my week 🖤💜 (Nikki Staples)
Yay! Thank you for your support!! Let me know if you want me to add your last name too. I just typically use the name on patreon but its easy to fix. Just let me know! 😉💖
Bentley House Minis If it’s not too much trouble I’d love to have my second name on there too, makes it feel all official 🤗🖤
You still are a great teacher!
Great job! Thanks for making a faery!! She is lovely! Being old she is stiff from arthritis and in pain. She still has a loving heart and a lot of joy to give!
You use toilet paper, but the larger kitchen paper is more durable wene wet!! Still a tissue paper and works the same!!
Beautiful job 💕
Wow! You are so talented! It is fascinating watching you create these treasures. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much 😊
Oh! The hair! You're a genius Ara Bentley!°
Love it... awwww. Adorable. Ur talent. I tell ya... phenomenal...
Omg So Cute And Sweet 💖💖💖
Love it Ara! You make some of the most interesting things with whatever is available. I'm so impressed with all of your skills. Thanks so much for sharing your talents!
Thank you so much my friend!!
This is adorable, you are very talented.
Here’s an idea for a story- A long time ago, she accidentally turned her brother into a dragon so she moved into a house in the middle of the forest to protect her brother while she finds ways to cure him. She is very annoyed because nothing has worked yet.
You’re making her eye sockets “by eyeballing it”! Hahahaha! Oh my friend you crack me up!
I do love this so much this is my favorite and cant wait to make her you are by far i genious and so do talented god bless you ♥️
Thank you Cynthia!
Fantastic tutorial! I'm definitely going to have a go at making my own 💕
She's so perfect! Fits the house so well! I think her expression is like this because she's some sort of teacher for younger fairies, and they're always making a mess and putting themselves in all sorts of trouble! But I really love the ideia that she's mad because the dragon destroied her tower too! 🥰
😄😄 Love it!
You are soooo creative. Enjoying your channel a lot.
Thank you so much!
Your videos are so relaxing, creative, and informative! One of my favorite channels!
Aww thank you!!💖
Absolutely LOVE her!! That hair is awesome. Your doll making skills are getting so good. Thanks so much for sharing. 💗💗💗
Thank you so much 🤗
So adorable I love her,
Ms. Periwinkle! as always I love your process and your artisticness! I can't believe you mentioned where the Gnomes live I was just thinking of her , she hasn't made many new things lately and I've been missing her. been watching her for years and found you like a year or so ago thanks for sharing ! Blessings for you and yours Always!!! ( I have a video of a cardboard castle that I made , by our pond next to a miniature stone castle my great grandfather made!) 💖💝💖
I miss Sharons videos too but I know she is doing well and taking care of her fam ;) Your castle project sounds awesome!! And how cool that your grandfather built one too!
@@BentleyHouseMinis that's so sweet that you read this message and replied thank you, you must be so busy I really appreciate it. and I'm So glad that Sharon is well ! Thanks again take care!!!!
Ara, Periwinkle is amazing! Love that everything used to make her is readily available at home. ❤
Right on! 🙂💜 I'm surprised you don't make tacky glue clay. Tacky glue and white bread make a pretty strong clay. It's kind of like polymer, but doesn't need to be baked. You can mix paint with it to make colors.
She's wonderful❣️So nicely done.👍
Thank you so much
You're very welcome.🙂
Your skills are amazing.
Wow that is fantastic and will definitely try to do something using this technique.
This was a fun project. Thank you. ♥️👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
I think what I’ve learnt from doll customising channels re: yarn hair is to comb it out with what looks like a dog brush - the ones used for long haired dogs that have an undercoat. They’re sort of wide rectangle shaped with wired bristles that help make the yarn go to that soft bulky “hair” look rather than yarn strands.
That being said I think you did a great job! And you’d never guess it was all made from mainly toilet paper!
I wonder if my dog Stormy will lend me her brush 🤣 Thank you for the tips! I will try that next time
This was a very inspirational video!
Thank you so much!
I used to love making dolls from paper mache. Hadn't even thought about doing it for years though. She turned out magical. :}
The hair came out really well, considering where you thought it was headed. Well done. Next time you make doll's hair, try starting your process off with one of those detangling brushes that they also sell for long haired pets. However, the super shiny final effect on DIY doll hair is actually achieved with heat. Some people iron it flat (maybe in baking paper/parchment?) I've heard some use curling tongs, but Akameru Kawaii demos it well using just a regular straightening iron & a comb.
I will definitely try those things next time! Luckily I didn't need much for her small head lol!
Awsome👏👏👏...I loved it😍😍
Woohoo is beautiful thanks
Very cute! Amazing job!
I always remember that "Good" faeries have butterfly or dragonfly wings and "Evil" Faeries have Dragon or Bat wings. But that is just one folklore.
Thank you for sharing!
Interesting.... then does that means she's evil?😮
@@BentleyHouseMinis Maybe she was born to evil parents, but she is actually good. This might explain the annoyed facial expression! hehehe
She's awesome! Love her hair. She's probably tired of being quarantined! LOL!
I am so impressed with your skill with toilet paper mache! The layers of wood glue made such a difference!
Thank you for showing your process. You’re amazing Ara!
Thank you so much!
Omw. That is just so good.
Thank you😊
Hola qué bonito proyecto me gusta eres fabulosa
Your channel is SO much fun! Thank you for being so generous with your talent, Ara!
Thank you so much!
Just genius! I adore your work. You are a woman after my own heart. 💜 TFS!
Thank you! 😊
You are just so clever xx
Oh, Ara, Ms Periwinkle Nightshade looks really nice. I love the way you did her hair. I can (still) not hear you very well, but I found the button that let me read what you say. It is in English, but that is no problem. Writing English is not the best thing I can do. Have a very good weekend.
I am sorry its so hard to hear. Is it hard to hear other channels you watch or just mine? That will let me know if its something going on with my audio or if there is a setting you can click.
@@BentleyHouseMinis Some other channels are also not so good to hear. I have a laptop and the sound is 100%, I cannot make it higher. But 10 months ago I started to look all your videos, and the sound was oke. Maybe I can look again. When the sound is not so good anymore, it is my laptop.
But it is not a big problem, I can read what you say.
Ara, I just take a look at a few old videos. Not the whole video, but a few minutes in the begi nning, the middle and the end. Draping a cloth over a chair, the iron maiden, the woman hanging in the room of Morticia, and 1 or 2 other videos. The sound is oke. I can hear you in all the videos. Have a very nice day and a good week. Greetings.
Hi Ara. New to the channel and I love it. I’m an old fan of Sharon and Where The Gnomes Live and am currently on my second mouse house which is what led me to your channels, a search for making furniture. I think your work is amazing and I’m looking forward to putting together stuff for my project. Thank you for the patterns! Fingers crossed my new Xacto blades arrive tomorrow’! 😊
Thank you so much and welcome to the channel! Sharon is just amazing isn't she? I am so glad you found some things here that will help you in your builds too! Happy creating!💖
For the yarn hair: you need a metal pet brush with very thin prongs, and then you need to straighten it with a hair straightener!
Thank you for the tips! I will try that next time ;)
Generally when you comb out yarn hair you use a metal pet brush, the brush you used isn't thin enough, and the bristles are too widely spaced. loves the result though
I will try that!
Great name!
Love her face. Great job!
Thank you Robin!
Oh my she is adorable! Great job love her.
Fabulous !
Wow..the process is amazing!..yea I need to figure out how to do a gnome...and mice..ect maybe doing this process..Yes..as u know I’m doing a tree and yes #wherethegnomeslive” is a addiction.#sharonojala is another amazing talent.after u did this house Ara,I bet u and Sharon doing something together would be spectacular!!!..are u putting more furniture and a kitchen in this house?cant wait for more!!!❤️
I would love to do something with Sharon sometime! We have talked about it before so fingers crossed for a future collab ;)
How amazing....great job...love it....tfs
Thank you!
