Wilber! He suffers from allergies to dandelion fluff. Well, ... and broccoli. Both make him sneeze something terrible. Mrs. Periwinkle thinks he just doesn’t like broccoli and fake sneezes so he doesn’t have to eat it, even though it’s good for him. He even destroyed the tower in a sneezing fit, because of broccoli! Mostly, he’s a good dragon and very loyal. He’s a bit of a scaredy-cat wren it comes to spiders and beetles. Although he is very brave when it’s time for a bath and only cries a little bit.
I was about to suggest Wilberforce, then I read your comment and the name you chose. Two great minds think alike, almost.😅🤣😂👏👏👍👍🇳🇿 By the was, I love your story.
This dragon is so cute! Using "shingles" for his scales is inspired! "Juniper" is a word for green, and I think it would be fun to continue the color name trend for all of Ms. Periwinkle's friends.
Is this the cutest dragon I’ve ever seen? Yes it is. I am absolutely besotted with this dragon, seeing it draped on the house sleeping gives the house a peaceful enchanted feel to it.👏👏👍👍🇳🇿
Dragons are my absolute favourite fantasy beings... i have a huge collection but i have never been game enough to make one, i have painted plenty on canvas but never 3D... A cardboard dragon napping on a cardboard house, in which resides a cardboard fairy.....................A Proper Paper Passion, perhaps? I love it - I must admit that I am getting my weekly ration of whimsy on this channel - whimsy in addition to inspiration and amusement. You ROCK, my friend!!!
I love this cardboard dragon sculpture. He came out adorable. All the details give him so much character. I mean, It's positively enchanting. :) The way you created the scales was absolutely awesome. Who knew you could soak the chipboard in water to make it pliable around curves? Ara, you are my hero. 😘
Thank you Darnelle! I have so much fun experimenting and trying new ideas and I feel like it's an extra benefit that I have a group of people I can share those strange ideas with lol!! Thank you for being here and always leaving and uplifting message!
LOVE THIS! Beautiful and insightful as always ❤ Another method you could try is making cardboard 'clay'. In a blender add ripped up cardboard or egg carton and hot water. Blend until smooth. Strain the solution with a mesh colander and then take most of the water out by squeezing fistfuls of the mixture. Then in a bowl mix the cardboard fiber mush with pva glue until a workable paste forms. You can sculpt with it, use a pallet knife to smooth it over an armature, etc. I feel like you would totally rock this technique!
He's just so cute, and how creative 'shingling' him with cardboard! Just love all of these cardboard creations! Hmm, how about Sage, Willow, Aspen, or Jade for name suggestions? ❤
ARA!!! I hope you realize how amazing your talent is! You have a great eye and this dragon from scratch is just another example of what a great artist you are! Thank you for sharing your talents with us!! Really. Really awesome!!!
Wow thank you so much for that💖💖 It's my pleasure to share and it makes me just as excited to see other people trying out my techniques and ideas in their own projects!
He is adorable and in my favorite color family ( as was the sock chair! ) You are hereby crowned the Empress of Cardboard Miniatures! Thanks for inspiring us!
Wow, this came out so good!! I would have never thought that it was made out of cardboard. I loved the colors you chose and loved how you aged the colors too.I really love that he's sleeping on top of the house too.
Aww he’s fabulous ,perfect for sitting on the roof of this quirky fairy house ..I think he should be called Smokey the dragon ..I actually like him more than the paper clay one ,he has so much character 😀
Just watched with my daughter, who loves dragons, and her favourite colours are green and teal - you may have a new fan 😊 He looks like a Bernard to me.. the whole cottage has a very British feel to it for me.
Ooh, also, have you ever tried making your own “paper clay”? I’m sure it’s not quite the same, but that’s what I call it. I make mine from egg cartons, and drink trays from McDonald’s, etc, but you can use pretty much any scrap paper. Soak in hot water for a bit, until it’s easy to break apart, then drain out excess water. Smush it up with your hands (some people use a blender, but you’d need one dedicated to crafting), and squish the excess water out. Add white school glue and keep squishing it until you have a smoothish uniformish texture. Then use it like paper clay. It dries solid and sturdy, but super light. It can take a while 😅, but you can make extra since you can store it for a bit in an airtight container.
Thank you Jessica! I am so glad you both enjoyed the video! Tell her I said hello ;) Yes I have made my own paper clay and I have no idea why I didn't think of doing it here lol! My brain was on a one way track. I might have to try your recipe sometime though ;)
This is so cute! I saw a channel that makes there own paper clay, guess that’s what it is. They soak cardboard and paper in super hot water, blend it to pulp, wring it put them add glue. This is much easier. Love how it’s turning out.
Bentley House Minis I believe the name of the channel is Creative Mom. She does these cool fairy houses out of cardboard and coke bottles. All kinds of trash, anything that’s recyclable. She shows how to make that clay stuff. Love your videos!
I love her, she is definitely a "her". You do such amazing work, I really appreciate how you break things down into easy to understand steps. I think she needs a name that is befitting a dragon of her stature like, " Princess Twinkle Toes" or "Queenly Willow Fluff".
Great dragon. I think I like the cardboard one a little better. BTW, you can wet-sand plaster to keep down the dust and it helps to level it out, also. Just wet your sandpaper before using it. That's how I was taught to prepare walls for painting.
Absinthe is my choice for his name. Would tp/pt rolls work for the scales, as they are thinner and already curved? 🤔 as for the feet isn't there that flour, salt, and water dough clay stuff you can make? I seem to remember WAY back in school doing something like that for xmas ornaments. He is Very cute! I vote for bigger wings on the next one, I get tired just thinking about him trying to fly around with those small ones. Thanks to you and your imagination for making my days better. P.S. I also vote for more live streams. 😁
I definitely agree that she's a noble lady. I like sticking with the color theme as LuccaAce suggested. Emeralda, Jaden, Olivia. I'm sure there are others. You'll think of the perfect name!
Just perfect for the cardboard house. You inspired me and have made the livingroom set. Maybe a name for the dragon could be Sunaru which is Uranus (the green planet) flipped around as that name always makes me giggle lol :)
Ara, this is really amazing. I am working on a project that does not call for a dragon anywhere, but this is giving me an excuse to make one, lol. If you have not named the dragon, George sounds fun.
A wonderful job! I am completely in love with the beautiful dragon. Maybe you can do the fairy tale Tabaluga. That would be a nice name for him. Many thanks for the great video! ❤👍 LG vom Tinchen
He's super cute! If you can't use paper clay, porcelain clay could be an option. It's made from corn starch and glue and baby oil. Just throwing out another option made from household things. But I love your creations.
Perfect!!!! I think his name should be Beryl- Beryl is the mineral that Aquamarine comes from Aquamarine is the greenish-blue to blue variety of Beryl. And your dragon is definitely greenish-blue! :)
When I was a little girl, I read a children’s book called, “Shadow Castle” by Marian Cockrell. It’s a wonderful book, and I still read it from time time. There is a dragon in the story that likes to have company and drink ice-cold nectar and eat fruit. His name is ‘Branstookah’. He helps to save a princess. I think this would be a perfect name for your sleeping dragon. 🐉👸🏼🥰
How adorable! He/She's perfect for this house. Perkins if a male and Petunia if a lady??? Since you amazingly made it with house hold items just like the house, I thought saying with names that begin with the letter P to stay with Periwinkle!
Absolutely love how the dragon turned out, and as they remind me of a sloth (with the whole weathering due to inactivity deal going on) what about Desidia for a name? Enthusiastically awaiting the next installment of this fine series. :}
I love how it turned out. Very cute. The green reminds me of Pete's dragon. Just curious, have you ever tried using a bevel for sanding small details? I dunno if it be too fragile but just wondering if it would save some of the sanding time
Respect to all previous suggestions, but to me the dragon looks like it should be named Peppercorn. A whimsical name given when it was still a little baby, and would always be found snuffling in Miss Periwinkle's spice box. He loves hot spices of all types, so Miss Periwinkle planted lots of black pepper vines and hot capsicum plants like jalapenos all around her house. It's an odd thing that a fire-breathing dragon is such a cool color. But maybe that's because normally he keeps his fires banked and cool most of the time, so as not to endanger Miss Periwinkle's house. Of course, that leaves him very sleepy too, which is why he's usually just perched up on the roof trying to absorb some sun or radiant heat from the house. But if ever there's a reason why a strong dragon's flame might be needed, Miss Periwinkle knows she can stoke the flames with plenty of hot pepper and things will get spicy REAL fast! This also explains why her house is basically made of stucco, because that is largely a fire-resistant material. The thatched roof is a distinct danger, and surely she intends to swap it out for clay tiles or slate someday when she has the money. But for now the dragon sleeps cozy, and knows to be careful. Just don't go feeding it any more broccoli or dandelion fluff, and things should probably be just fine.
OMGGGGGGGGGGG IM ALREADY GONNA GET STARTED ITS SOOOO AMAZINGGGG BUT im just gonna try making it out of foil cause dats da only thing dat i have for the sculture is foil
