I could listen to any of these three guys all day long, any day of the week. It doesn't matter what they sing. They could just hum, and I'd be singing along, just like I was throughout this song. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! Thank you very much, Bill. 😀
If you're a LotR fan and you don't get any goosebumps listening to this, you should check your pulse! Durin is one of the fathers of the Dwarven-folk, he was the oldest one. He is believed to have lived 7 times, being reincarnated among his bloodline. His axe and helm are still buried in Khazad-Dûm, in some unknown place. Thorin II Oakenshield is one of his descendants.
I most certainly did! Lots I didn't know about Durin other than Thorin's line being descended from and of course, the door would be revealed "on the last light of Durin's Day'. Those voices were so perfect to tell this story!
This is a great take on the original. If you like dwarves you'll like Clamavi De Profundis. They're a choir/chanting group that have done a lot of Tolkien pieces, and they particularly seem to like his dwarves. Thanks for the reaction!
Tagelharp was the instrument. A Viking instrument. Welcome to Colm McGuinnis and Bobby Bass. Colm has done heavy metal covers and done non-metal songs in heavy metal style. He also sings "If I Had A Heart" in Norse. He just recently covered Dead South's "In Hell I'll Be In Good Company". He also has done some Disney covers. He is a composer by education and trade who found his voice during Covid. If it has strings he can play it and he's good with a tin whistle too. He wrote "Welcome To Taldore" for Critical Role's streaming series which is where I first encountered him. When Covid shut everything down he found his voice in the Sea Shanties that were being sung on line. He thought he had destroyed his tenor range as a teen but he has been working with it and can even attain that light floating Irish tenor now. I don't know Bobby's story as well as Colm's. He and the Bass Gang members also were part of the Covid Sea Shanty movement. The Bass Gang members put their stuff together remotely most of the time because they are spread between the US to Europe to Egypt. Last year they got together in person except for Marwin (couldn't get his VISA approved) and made some excellent Disney covers. Marwin was still in them, they just had to get creative. They have some amazing spooky recordings for the Halloween season.
That was interesting. There was an almost metallic quality in McGuinness's voice in particular when he hit those lower notes. Fitting for a tale of dwarves and swords, I think. I enjoyed that version. Like the Marko beard, by the way.
Tim Faust from Home Free is a 5 octave Bass, Jeff looked to him as inspiration for how he could get low. Bobby Bass also is a fan of Tim Faust. Also Tim loves to work with them on songs.
I will be honest what feeling I have when bass singer sung. To me bass singers are DRAGONSLAYERS and in THAT SONG I feel those 3 DRAGONSLAYERS summon a dragon that scratches earth's core
@@BemusingBill also I feel like if those 3 sung the song of During in the movie those 3 DRAGONSLAYERS would say to Smaug "Hey Smaug, you think you are tough buddy, look the point is that we met a friend here who is a dragon also and want to fight you"
Great reaction video - in answer to your query, the instrument Colm (COLL-um) is playing is the talharpa - a lyre that is traditional to Scandanavia and the Baltics.
Durin the deathless was one of the first dwarves to awaken in middle earth and was also the founder of the longbeards I think, but there was like 5 dwarves at the time to awaken each founding there own tribe of dwarf, but durins folk are the most known as gimli was part of it and most of the dwarves we meet in the Lord or the ring and the hobbit
Hey Bill! That was cool! Question about the jerseys... Do you remember how long it took to receive them? (Wondering if i have time to order one for my husband's bday) Love to Nancy!! Thank you❤
Hi Velouria! Takes about ten days. Hope that is enough time. It might depend on how much work they have to do with customization I suppose. If you go for it I'd love to know what you get! Love to you from us both ❤️❤️
Would love to see more Colm McGuinness reactions. He has some great metal/rock covers
please listen to Colm McGuinness cover of "Zombie" That man has the best scream!

I swear, watching Colm's jaw work when he's doing the deep bass work, it looks like the action of his facial muscles could engrave stone.
Yeah right! It's like his facial muscles could barely contain the power coming from his diaphragm. Like his head was going to explode! 😁Amazing! 🤘❤️🤘

there's no subharmonics except the last word in this song
Amazing! hank you! 🤘❤️🤘
And that was Bobby getting it done.

Yes, that's right. Gimli's father was with Thorin Oakensheild's party and they were all Durin's folk. Thank you!
Great Video !
Thank you!
You should react to his what could have been cover, his range in that is completely and utterly insane!!
Tim Faust has a similarly insane range. He sings with Home Free (Acapella)
Thank you!
@@BemusingBill By the way, that instrument is a targel harpa. A nordic instrument from the viking age.

Tim Foust of Homefree has a 5 octave range. You should check them out.
Another artist with a crazy range is Tim Foust from Home Free 👍
If you really want to hear his range, listen to Colm's "Wayfaring Stranger" cover
Thank you for the recommendation, my friend! I didn't have that one on my list, thanks! 🤘❤️🤘
@@BemusingBill😊
You should check out I see fire by Jonathan Young with Colm
Ok, cool! Thank you! 🤘❤️🤘
A few months late on the comments but another one with good vocal range is Tim Faust
