Quite dissapointed with this review was expecting you to ride down the street on a skateboard holding a 6000£ camera without straps on one hand and vlogging with the other hand
I have it, its a real winner, have been trying my hand at some amateur birding and discovered I have a juvenile bald eagle right near my home in New Jersey!!
It would be interesting to compare the gfx cameras to these and see how big the differences are, since they are getting more affordable and in a small body, as you would find in full frame.
Omg. Me too! Im using 18-55 though. Is 35mm f2 sharper? Im planning to get one and sell my 18-55. Any suggestions, maybe cheaper lens? Im more of a landscape guy.
IMO you should keep the 18-55 for versatility. The 35mm 1.4 is razorsharp. IDK about the f2. This: goo.gl/fAk4cY is shot with the 35mm 1.4 on the x-t1. And this one: goo.gl/eA6fLq on the 27mm 2.8 on the x-t1. I find the 35mm 1.4 better
Steve L Manchester is too dense, you can’t get from the centre to the Peak District in less than 30 mins, glossop is in the way, and it’s not geographically interesting at all, just big, flat and grey. For outdoorsy people and adventurers, Sheffield is where it’s at
Well done Kai! Super entertaining as always and solid review. I'll have the GFX in my hands shortly to test out again. I liked it except for the flash sync speed and slow AF - in studio. I'm debating between the GFX and Hasselbald X1D (with the new firmware update). Input always welcomed!
So.. as someone who mostly shoots landscape, and macro.. and currently hefts around a huge 5dMK4 and is tentatively looking to up/side grade would you recommend?
I love how people with no clue about photography (and the differences between FF and MF images) comment on the price of this camera, and how they will "keep their Sonys or D850s". Please, if you don't understand what medium format is about - just stick to iPhones with deeper pixels.
So what is it exactly that you need to have a medium format camera for, rather than say D850, 5D IV or A7r III? A lot of professional photographers even use APS-C or Micro-4:3 sensors for their work - including portraits and landscapes which are what the GFX 50S shines at - and to my knowledge not one of them has ever run into a customer telling them they can't do a job because they have the wrong gear. Seems to me it's you who has no clue about photography. You're just comparing camera specs, which is an increasingly insignificant part of photography.
@Tunti Turpaan MF mostly belongs in the commercial world. Many commercial togs that do still life use a MF. Those Bud Light ads you see? Medium format. Most of the beer and booze still lifes you see were likely on a MF.
Nice review as alway - entertains. Considering the ‘eco system’ of the brand what medium format brand do you prefer shooting with? You got a link for that music at the end?
Love this video and all the cameo's by other photogs. Those photos are beautiful. I am about to sell my XPRO1 I know its a great camera I just always wind up back on my 5D Mark III i don't know why. Ugh... Fuji and Canon have my heart forever.
Kai, I've noticed you almost never ever mention Pentax cameras or gear in any of your videos. Could you give us your opinion on Pentax, both new and old?
Did not know it could fly and it is said to be quite empty inside the camera so could have been around 30% smaller according to one of your RUclips video competitors.
Kai W doing proper landscape shots... Who would have thought😀..... Great vid.... Plz get your hands on the new sony 24-105 f4 asap.... Would love to hear your thoughts....
Fuji definitely stepped up the game, although I feel that at the moment we've achieved such a high level of quality with the newest FF sensors, such as the a7RIII and the D850 ones, that this seems like an over-kill, especially because lenses are pretty huge and owning such a kit it's super expensive. But if you can afford it, why not :D
I Love the Fuji colours. I got my XT1 for a few months ago and i cant stop loving the pictures. A bit sad about the hot sensor pixels tho and the 16MP sensor but the images turns out great!
omg, you were filming at winnits pass and mam tor, i live a few miles from there, why didnt i know >< i could have photobombed :( are you moving near here??
Dude! You are amazing as always. I would love to do a Random Retouching of you. Just would need to get a image from you I could use :D It would be pretty special .. im sure :D
Entry/Enthusiast FF cameras cost about the same as top crop cameras. "Entry" Medium Format Cameras cost about as much as a top FF camera. You could get the same detail and just a tiny bit more ISO noise from the D850. The 5D4 should have even less high ISO noise than this, and of course the champions D5 and A7S2 which are almost noiseless at 12800
I own it. Apart from the amazing image quality: Indeed, the focus speed is not bad at all considering that it's a MF sensor. It works like a charm with the 32-64mm f/4 lens. However (!), the 110mm f/2 lens is troublesome in focus speed. The focus speed is noticeably slow. I don't know, but Fuji has problems with making telephoto prime lenses, I guess. For the XF 56mm f/1.2 has serious issues in term of focusing (serious focus hunting issues and an irritating focusing noise), too.
I hope "Fuller Frame" becomes the proper terminology for medium format cameras some day.
Agreed. It's hilarious
But what about the fuller full size frame of the Phase One and Hasselblad? Fullest Frame?
Fullerer Frame
Mick Ryan - Fulla Shit Frame perhaps?? As in “I shoot FSF”.
"mein fuller"*

Friendship with DigitalRev end
Is digital rev still around?
RayValdezPhotography they make a video of iphone x couple days ago
🙌🙌🙌🙌 same here yo!
KNAIM Same.
Great to see the Peak District being featured! Mam Tor and Winnats Pass for anyone who's wondering!
Thanks for that
Need to go back. Beautiful area
Rather flat landscape - maybe they should head to Lochaber or Torridon for some proper mountains?
They were a stone's throw from The Devil's @rsehole. Also featured idyllic views of Castleton cement works.
Borderlands *Hope cement works
I'm that kind of a guy who would enjoy watching anything that comes from this guy, even when he is shopping his grocery staff !!!
I see Kai, I must watch.
Quite dissapointed with this review was expecting you to ride down the street on a skateboard holding a 6000£ camera without straps on one hand and vlogging with the other hand
He should have at least crash that drone into the camera
Or paint it pink
Lol He's not a dick head that His insurance could pay that Big bill
Do you plan on reviewing the Sony rx10 iv? With the new AF system i'm seriously considering it.
Tony did a review on it, the focus is good, but not as good as A series.
I have it, its a real winner, have been trying my hand at some amateur birding and discovered I have a juvenile bald eagle right near my home in New Jersey!!
Four years later, I finally purchased it used :D
Got myself a 50Sii for $1700 and the 35-70mm zoom for $350. I’m astounded I can access digital medium format without destroying the bank.
He he I don't really care about cameras that much I just watch for his personality 😂😂
Kai is the Top Gear of photography, no doubt about it.
devoltar yaaas the Jeremy Clarkson of cameras
The good thing since he left DRTV is that he doesn't destroy gear anymore.
I love getting that notification! Hope you're doing well, Kai.
Hey Kai, could I have my hat back?
lol
Legend...you're my camera guru since 2008
I didn't come for the Fujifilm, just to come check out your videos. Glad you didn't stop doing videos. Keep them coming.
I see "Large Format" coming out for mirrorless cameras one day in the future...How exciting!!
Nice to see Bayfield out and about too !
i have always loved the way you process your photos.
It would be interesting to compare the gfx cameras to these and see how big the differences are, since they are getting more affordable and in a small body, as you would find in full frame.
I'm living my canon for fuji, because of this freaking colors man... and film simulation that looks just so good!
I sold my D7000 for a Fujifilm X-T1, I love it!
Gino Brugman not selling my d7100, gonna keep it for 50mm but gonna buy a x100t to try out fuji. How do you like it?
geigster i love it! Beautiful colours, razor sharp with my 27mm 2.8. Planning on getting the 35mm 1.4 which is even sharper :0
Omg. Me too! Im using 18-55 though. Is 35mm f2 sharper? Im planning to get one and sell my 18-55. Any suggestions, maybe cheaper lens? Im more of a landscape guy.

i always find my self so interested in your videos. still leaning all the new information as i'm new to the camera world
Yes wonderful to see you at the mamtor & winnats pass, awesome camera with brilliant video kai
OMFG! I thought you were gone from the internets and now, na total coincedent i find your Channel... this totales makes my day. 😊📷📸
Kai in Derbyshire!?!!
Finally a place I recognise!
That's legit good, currently using the XT-2 but looking forward to when I can eventually own a GFX!
Primeval Media love my xt-2. Do you post any of your photos on Instagram?
Not much, but all the videos on my channel are shot with the XT-2 and Xt-20
6:40 Do you have a download link for that photo. It's amazing!
Move to Sheffield Kai, it takes 15 mins to drive from city centre to the middle of no where in the Peak District, and 25 mins to get to winnats pass
Christopher O'Grady nah, Manchester!, Easy access to the peak district, the lake district an North Wales...even the Yorkshire Dales ain't far.
Steve L Manchester is too dense, you can’t get from the centre to the Peak District in less than 30 mins, glossop is in the way, and it’s not geographically interesting at all, just big, flat and grey. For outdoorsy people and adventurers, Sheffield is where it’s at
Hey Kai, love how you combine humor and educational information!
Spooky just searching your vlogs for a gfx hands on and 55 minutes later, KAPOW!
the drone greens look really good.
Kai's classic epic transition @ 8:31 haha. Man that camera is pretty sick! Keep up the great work! Happy holidays 🙌🏼
Please Kai, tell me when this was shot and if you've done a near identical review, as I'm sure I've seen this months ago (serious case of Deja Vu!)?
So.. as someone who mostly shoots landscape, and macro.. and currently hefts around a huge 5dMK4 and is tentatively looking to up/side grade would you recommend?

Alexander V lol thinking the same.
I'm still thinking about the Pentax 645D, your thoughts. .. ?
Been a long time since I bought a ‘proper’ camera. I’m just surprised you can get a digital MF this cheap...
Alexander V Enlighten us then, what is medium format about?
So what is it exactly that you need to have a medium format camera for, rather than say D850, 5D IV or A7r III? I like how he got a firm grip on the eyepiece when grabbing camera from case.
Are you living in the sheffield/South Yorkshire area or just visit to film. Sure I saw you in Hillsborough the other week
Was just rewatching your DigitalRev videos! I wanted to find the one in which you speak Cantonese...
Please review the Google Pixel 2 camera given it has the highest DxO rating. I'm curious to know if it's really that good from a pro perspective.
I was actually looking for a good GFX video yesterday and was disappointed when I saw that Kai didn't have one. Spoooooooooky
The end bit was shot near Castleton England yeah? Was just there not too long ago, beautiful place
what camera were you filming with at 0:38??? looks gorgeous at such low light! is it panasonic gh5?
I love all your vids, Kai. Especially, when I need a good laugh. Might we see more vids on how you shoot? Thanks!
With Pentax being months away from being dead Fuji looks like a great successor to me.
Kai, I've noticed you almost never ever mention Pentax cameras or gear in any of your videos. Could you give us your opinion on Pentax, both new and old?
Did not know it could fly and it is said to be quite empty inside the camera so could have been around 30% smaller according to one of your RUclips video competitors.
cool cinematic drone footage at 8.15 onward... nice colours... the GFX 50s review is good too
Still my favorite youtube public figure to date. You're the best Kai!
Where was that video shot? It's a gorgeous landscape.
don't you just love the way he speaks
Kai W doing proper landscape shots... Who would have thought😀..... Great vid.... Plz get your hands on the new sony 24-105 f4 asap.... Would love to hear your thoughts....
Impressive landscape shot Kai.

A great video again Kai... Hope you review the new Panasonic camera...
What are you guys using to shoot your video? Could you recommend something for low light situations?
Didn't you review this a while back in DRTV with Lok, Ian and Warren
Those drone shots look awesome!
Nice Colour grading job on the drone footage, cinematic vibes 😀
love the final vid. Incredible
OMG I couldn't find you after you left digital rev I've missed you sooo much INstascribed baybay

Where was the video shot? Looks amazing!
Great video an all that etc etc..
I love the squeak from your leather jacket!
I Love the Fuji colours. I got my XT1 for a few months ago and i cant stop loving the pictures. A bit sad about the hot sensor pixels tho and the 16MP sensor but the images turns out great!
hello
oh if that thing had 3 axes stab. and 4k video, would have been the beest camera of the year
YOU HAD ME AT PENTAX
Kai in my local neighbourhood, great fun video and who goes to Mam Tor in a leather jacket!
What do you think about the new DRTV crew? Not as cute as alamby!
I want one of these drones so bad. Are they as good as the look?
You´ve got a soothing voice btw - for some reason it reminds me of Kevin McCloud, host of the architecture programme "Grand Design"
Great video! Cool, that PJB was in it too.
Amazing shots, thank you for the info and good luck on your move:)
Olympus EVolt E-300 SLR Digital Camera? Is this a good camera?
Where is that? It’s gorgeous!!
omg, you were filming at winnits pass and mam tor, i live a few miles from there, why didnt i know >< i could have photobombed :( are you moving near here??
I like the look of Fujifilm bodies, but there isn't a ton of native glass to choose from.
Peak District looking great. You live nearby?
Hey Kai, I think you did the outro really well. Nice Job
Quadruple 👍 That is a beautiful landscape !
This video really sells me on drone videos.
awesome Kai great work
I love this type of video
Wow this is great equipment, big sensor, yet way more usable than the Hasselblads. But after all, for now it will remain a dream.
Where did you get the bag? I can’t find one that is full cammo... pretty please.
The condom pun totally got me 😂 I think I'm in love 😂😂
When is Nikon going to make a "pro-sumer" Medium format body?
Good luck with the move.
what drone is that??? the image has a strange movement... kinda looks like 16fps
Love these videos
. man got jokes. Also really been helpful in getting me into hobby/promo for my own work photography.. Keep it up.
Kai, which camera did you use for this video? Surely the video is more appealing than the expensive toy you handled
That thumbnail tho.
Kai looking hawt.
Top quality vids as always.
Dude! You are amazing as always. I would love to do a Random Retouching of you. Just would need to get a image from you I could use :D It would be pretty special .. im sure :D

hey Kai, which is that tripod near the end of the video with three stage center collumn
Where was this filmed ,looks great
All I can see is “SEXUAL” thanks for sharing Kai, always enjoyable to have you sir PJB ❤️
it's like having a tv strapped to your eye
lol I died!
Hey Kai! where is your Photo show Birmingham posting ? Eh??
I own it. Apart from the amazing image quality: Indeed, the focus speed is not bad at all considering that it's a MF sensor. It works like a charm with the 32-64mm f/4 lens. Nice tripod, for some camera that's not the GFX 50s. Fun to watch it wiggle.
