- I was at a vehicle Auction and I came across this 2000 Toyota MR2 Sypder that almost looked to be abandoned after being used as a track toy of some sort. It was such a mystery and I wanted to find out more about it. Watch until the end to find out the backstory behind this old Toyota.

Until you find out he didn't know what he was doing because he tried tuning his own engine, over boosted it, accidentally created the Apollo 18 mission with piston number 2 and put one of the shocks in upside down.

I have that same seat from my miata years back. Just sits in my room though.
I think it's a perfect candidate for a Yamaha powerplant swap from a Vibe GT or Matrix XRS.

I own a 01 mr2 and this is a pretty nice car. Overall they are great to drive and this one doesn’t look to terrible for what it is, and with 68k miles, that’s a pretty good deal.

My mate put B16 in one of them. It's heavily modified but all motor. Makes 207hp. Which is insane from a N/A 1.6 motor. It genuinely rips.

Coming from a spyder owner myself, Buy it right now if you can get a deal . They have went up in value like crazy in the past few years. So glad I picked mine up when I did, all of my friends have Miatas as their track car and they all admit that the MR2 is a better car, it’s literally a street legal go cart. And they eat anything on the track with a stock K20 in it
Oh by the way, those headlights you could easily sell for 3-400. Even if you were to buy it as a parts car you would make your money back tenfold, it’s extremely hard to find parts for these cars so when they are up for grabs people have to pay the premium.
The spyder and rx8 would make the perfect pair~

All this needs is a swap and you got your self a very fun pocket rocket thats really hard to replicate for the same money. I bought one with a blown engine to put a 2zz in it, and it completely transformed the car!
hard to compare if the motor was blown before you bought it...
@KurtLamprecht I got a chance to drive a stock one before to notice the difference. The high revving 2zz just fits the chassis better and feels more at home in this car.
I'm definitely getting an mr2 spider as my next car since its so cheap.
