Just returned from EGYPT one week ago. I've been a solo traveller for the last 12 years and never faced a situation like this. There are some basic rules to follow...i always do a big research before, know the current prices, the distances, download offline maps, i never engage with someone that approaches me...the more details you give them, the more they will try to take advantage of that and I never ask prices if not interested on what they are trying to sell. Obviously that i was overcharged sometimes, but thats part of the game. I was able to avoid most of these scammers by being strict saying NO. My overall experience was amazing!!!
The mistake is asking for the price, this way they start very high and you'll never haggle down to a normal price. Know the price and be the first to do an offer, start low and start from there. This way lots of money will be safed

It's for content. It's kind of annoying though. He's literally complaining about paying 300 pounds ($9.75 USD) for a one hour camel ride and telling the guy that he makes a lot off it... and he only wants to pay 200 Egyptian ($6.50) for the hour ride. I wonder what the minimum wage is where this tourist is from... Even if the Egyptians have selective pricing and are scammers this guy is no better trying to "expose" them for trying to make 10 bucks an hour. If you enjoyed your time just pay up and move on. Not worth arguing about 3 bucks. Lol

When will these people finally understand that we tourists would like to have a fixed price for the service they offer, but unfortunately there are always these hidden costs that are demanded afterwards. To then have to make these eternal negotiations about how much money you have to pay gets on your nerves .I know a lot of people who have been to Egypt once and never again because of that

When I see those sellers in GIZA, I do have to appreciate that these are the best salespersons I have seen in a while. Their persistence and motivation to make a sale are very commendable.
Come to Saudi Arabia, Al-Ala, it is better, and there are no people who steal your money. We are in Saudi Arabia. You will find people who will deliver you for free and light coffee and food. Very nice people.
Just to give you an idea, the official price is 50 EGP for 30 mins. Unfortunately a lot of the camel and horse guys are slick salesmen and will start at ten times that much, it is up to you to bargain and agree on a price.
This was sad, these guys try to do the same with us the Egyptians, but the only difference is that we don't go with everyone who says you are my friend 😄 Come on man this way you will be scammed every time you leave your home.

Why does everyone expect next to nothing cheap priced bargains when visiting Egypt as a tourist? You never see them trying to bargain down prices when traveling across Europe.
Because the people here have the nerve to charge you 10x-30x the actual price. Maybe if they were honest, tourists would tip with a smile which often goes a lot longer. I was more than happy to tip when I knew they were not trying to scam me.
