2:40 His snatch warmup is freaking insane, so crisp. Bam, instantly in perfect position. Doing this, even with only the bar, isn't as simple as it looks.
he has very short femurs, and since weightlifting has tons of squatting, hence his quads size. he has a long torso with long shins and short femurs, that makes his body ideal for squatting but poor for deadlifting since he doesnt have the length and as a result minimal strength from hams and glutes. if you watch closesly his main strength is just the beginning portion of the movement because hes upright and with his short femurs make it very easy during the first pull. beyond that hes instable dipping below the bar, he depends too much on his quads but has little ham and glute strength to hold that position.
@@emiliospowerballer1441 Whoa you have hawkeyes. No wonder my squat is way more than my deadlift, long torso short legs + lower back surgery 12 years ago.
@@42kritik14 it is basically the most effective clean technique - he never remotely struggles any clean I've seen him attempt. He's just weaker locking out overhead.
Evoo This is 99.9% true. The other .1% is when the person she goes for is Toshiki, Lang, or Rostami. Then nobody's at fault, it's just meant to be. Can't disrupt nature's call.
That gives me hope then. I have his proportions, and I guess similar to a lot of asians, but I always felt like my femurs were long compared to my shins, and my legs super short compared to my torso. I always felt more comfortable squatting narrow with neutral feet, so I guess I'll go switch back from flared feet :D
Legs/body proportions dont really determine your stance, your hip socket, the depth and an angle of it do. :) Having short femurs and long torso enables one to be more upright in the starting position in the snatch and clean and jerk and also in squatting as the body doesnt have to lean as much to cover the bar. Depends on the mobility too of course. Its also better for the spine and use of legs. Some people are just made for their sport :) But then...look at Usain Bolt or some of the super heavies in weightlifting like Lasha Talakhadze, the dude is the best but proportionally not so much. It just shows that genetics mean nothing. Hard work and deciation matter the most. :)
Yeah you right, but for me changing just my stance makes the most observable difference. I'm very mobile in my ankles, but I can only get so much lateral rotation from my hips, bringing my feet in a bit gives me so much more bounce and allows me to utilize my quad dominance more. I felt like I was going to turn to dust every time I experimented with a big powerlifter stance
I believe it has to do with his workers' compensation insurance as a result of his foot injury in the past. dropping it like this lowers the federation premium by 15% or more. they're with GEICO Iran.
Hookgrip, do you know if Toshiki was injured or just out of shape ? is overhead receiving position on the snatch was very woobly,he was shaking a lot here and also on the competition..
All about training hard and never giving up. If you eat clean you look lean . Don’t be jealous ! Do you even lift ?! It’s all about genetics . ...and so on and on
Why no coverage of older non competitors like me, I'm 61 165 & ligiment damage seems inevitable trying to clean, power clean or snatch 65% of my body weight...once I've power cleaned 405lbs @ 148 lbs @26 with a decade of training. Now everything hurts, takes longer to heal...

Just balance, you see what foot is dominant, pretty much how you have a writing hand, feels natural using it every time. There's a awesome channel here on RUclips that covers everything Olympic weightlifting related, there's a ton of info. I'll find the name for you, he talks about this in detail.
"We noticed that many of the lifters had well manicured hands except they liked growing the nail longer on the thumb -- some longer than others. I took the opportunity and asked our new friend 85kg senior lifter Zhao Yongchao why this was so and this is what he had to say. - According to Zhao Yongchao, there's a callus that gets formed on the middle finger from the usage of the hook grip. . [pausing as you all examine your hands] . This area on the middle finger is typically where the thumb will contact with the middle finger and create a lock so the barbell won't rotate and fly out of your hands during the lift. By growing the thumb nail out, it's like having a longer lever in which to lock against the callus. With this, you can have a stronger, firmer yet more relaxed grip on the bar."

Na it’s really simple you just suck
Man, still can’t get over the size of his quads!!!
nice footage ray, hope you saw the credit in the description :)

The noise of the plates sliding onto the barbell. Hnnnnnggggg
I.know right? Im.not evenintonlifting but its supernice
What the fuck are you talking about?
This dude and Lu Xiaojun have the cleanest, most aesthetically pleasing form I've ever seen.
I gotta go with Kirill Pavlov C&J on that one, agree to disagree
hookgrip lol agreed. When you're right, you're right.
+hookgrip its true, Pavlov's technique should serve as a cornerstone for teaching future generations of lifters
Hahahaha that catapult technique
Lu is a well oiled weightlifting robot
I'm a simple man, I see Toshiki, I press like

His Front Rack position is incredible.
Same 💯
Am i the only one who can hear that kid in the background go 'oi' after every snatch?
He might not lift the most weights in competition, but boy is he fun to watch.
most beautiful technique i'v seen. maybe not the most effective but amazing to watch.
Is he japans ace? Im new to olympic weightlifting and everywhere I go in japan weightlifting everybody talks about this guy.

Yamamoto Senpaiiiiii!

i could watch Toshiki lift all day... so pleasing to the eyes
Toshiki senpai!!!

I would say definitely. Compared to his upper body and shins. Perfect proportions.

Toshiki’s technique is soo aesthetically pleasing. My only criticism is his empty bar drop height, it’s way too low…
Toshiki has excellent ankle mobility 10:40

Why did Salimi drop the bar like this @0:47?
he dropped it on his foot once by accident and ever since then he's been afraid to let it drop anywhere near him
