Yeah, my impression is the Emblems are not really alive in the sense of other characters. They're more some kind of echo, a magical construct that resembles the original person and has their memories, but represents them rather than being them and seems to have less sapience than a regular person (given how they can be corrupted by simply changing wearers). Hence Marth's introduction stating he is "Emblem Marth, to be clear."

After playing Three Houses back in 2019, I now completely regret not playing other Fire Emblem games that came before it such as Awakening, Fates, Shadows of Valetia etc. even Fire Emblem Warriors (though I did play Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes) I am looking forward to this game of course.
I definitely loved awakening. Catch it on the 3ds eshop before it closes, it’s definitely a must play. I was a little on the fence over engage at first but I think it looks great!
You can just play Engage. Btw i'd recommend playing: Fire Emblem Fates Conquest, Shadows of Valentia, Path of Radiance(this one you will probably have to emulate lol), Sacred Stones, Fire Emblem Blazing Sword, Shadow Dragon and Awakening

Yep. While Three Houses was a departure from the conventional elements of the series, via the game's secondary developer Koei, this game is a return to form by bringing back gameplay elements and further developing features from the 3DS games, which may or may not hit with everyone but I think I will enjoy this one.
Three houses is the worst FE Game localised in English though. It was so basic. No good battle system, no real unique skills. The school environment was unhealthy and the skill tree and development was poor.

Man, I’m getting so hyped for this! After getting bored to death with 3H’s monastery grinding, this looks like a much better balance. Getting serious Fates vibes, which is great considering Conquest is by far my favorite game in the series
As someone who has played Three Houses, I don't think I'll miss NG+. It just served to highlight just how dull Garreg Mach was as you kept doing the same activities to gather funds and increase support points as you got ready to do the same chapters with a different team (and if you were trying to get as many supports as possible, you'd end up recruiting most of your old units anyway).
I am currently playing through my last route in 3H and I just clicked new game and omg it was so much better. Doing new game plus makes the monastery so boring I wanted to get to the action but I felt like if I didn’t use all my activity points I wasn’t playing the game right. I’m glad they made it optional in this game.

Wow, no new game+ is... certainly a bummer... especially for a game that has DLC waves coming throught this year. Either they make an update, that adds it, or i'm gonna wait until all DLCs gonna come out, before i play this game.
NG+ has been in a whopping 1 game before, and it did admittedly feel half baked. (Though 9/10 did have some content exclusive to subsequent playthroughs because... Reasons?) Fixed growth style is available on your second playthrough here though, so go nuts with that
The dlc will just work like in Awakening, SoV and Fates, is not rocket science, Three houses is the only FE game with NG+ so is not hard to imagine a game without it lol
Sounds like a great experience in store for everyone. They can always update to give slightly more payout for players or add a setting for a higher payout percentages.
It surprises me that Fire Emblem went from a niche rpg to gaining popularity in the mainstream and people enjoying the titles for what they are. I wish Nintendo would rerelease Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn though those two are my most favorites.

(Anna's in JP is reportedly romantic, which while I don't support censorship in any way shape or form, would definitely start a dumpster fire if left in. Dissapointing, but not surprising)

You can move up to 10 spaces but you have to be directly next to the enemy in order to use Ragnarok. Its probably the best one in the game next to Micaiah Healing Radius.
Honestly i don't enjoy NG + in most games because it makes the game way too easy Surprisingly Three Houses Maddening is only fun with New game +, i think that FE replay value is more about replaying from the start but playing the game testing new things

Pretty disappointed about new game plus ngl - it added a lot of fun to replaying three houses. Hopefully the emblems offer enough customization to make new playthroughs feel worth it. It sounds like engage is less grindy than previous fire emblems so I'll stay optimistic.
While I'm getting the engage I think people are going to regret all the complaints about 3houses.3h whatever grindness that game had it was offset by great characters and depth.

My main question is if there is an all female or male opening. I keep seeing the opening with both, but also with the gender swapped at different moments, like when grabbing the ring, ive seen the male and female. Is there an entirely male/female version?
i was never a fan of new game+ always hated it if i just beat a game why would i immediately play it again? and if i do wanna play it again someday why would i wanna be OP and break the entire game? which is what most new game+ result in if i don't actually have to try to beat something and am just OP the entire time i might as well watch a let's play
Uh that's not necessarily how ng+ always works... at least in the games I've played. Different games do a whole host of different things in a ng+... such as a new difficulty level.
I hope there's a conversation in the game where the characters talk about who in their universe would be an emblem. Just a meta joke about how all the emblems are important figures in their respective worlds, and who would be important enough to be one in Elyos.

Nintendo increased the cheese factor in this one. All the old school cheese is on display in full - with 80s electric guitar riff included. It feels like a game made by creators of Gatchaman or Power Rangers, even the theme song is cringe worthy. You have a young woman who is your mother - only in Japan this happens. Just like Zelda: Breath of the Wild and countless Japanese games, you have amnesia - they always begin the game with a clueless character who doesn't remember a thing.
