    1:51 The problem with the cutscenes is that it shows off the stadium for way too long until it goes to character entrances. In charged it briefly showed the stadium but then it went straight to the character entrances. Now that being said the showing off the stadium should be either shorter or skipable but the character entrances should work like the goal celebrations. Where only your team can skip entrances of your characters rather than anyone.

    There are a few things that were really unnecessary in this game, like the item boxes. It was fine with a team getting items directly when a player without a ball gets tackled. Why having to run to a box now? But at least the hyperstrikes are useful again. On the Wii, they were completely useless, as everyone who was used to the motion controls always could block every singe one of them, hence why we never used them. Player specialsbwere mich better than the team captains hyper shots^^

    • @tulfrich
      @tulfrich 2 года назад +3

      you do get items by penalty tackles, wich was not mentioned on this review. the item boxes were added to make the pitch more chaotic. Also it is a dissapointment not having the unique characteer skills back, but I guess it is fair at some degree.

      I personally prefer the new team only item boxes for hits on players without the ball. In the previous games once you hit two max items there stopped being any downside for the other team just hitting you at any opportunity as the game couldn't generate any new items until you used one. With the new system the team only item boxes will still appear on the field for without ball hits even with having two items meaning there's always a downside to hitting the opponent as a smart team can keep those item boxes on the field and wait to grab them once they've used an item. Combined with characters falling down when missing a charged tackle encourages much smarter defense than in previous games which I am very much a fan of.

      The only games that are improving (WHILE KEEPING THEIR ORIGINAL ROOTS) are the Mario kart series. We want new titles with new graphics. Stop reinventing the wheel … poorly. Golf, tennis, and now soccer are all less fun, fewer challenge modes, shorter completion time, much lower replay value, higher button difficulty, and more expensive for less value. It's learning curve is higher so that's probably why it's not as easy to sink into. Also, the switch itself allows for button mapping in the controller menu so after some swaps the muscle memory clicked soooooo much better. The complaint isn't necessarily game bad because it's not like the old ones, it's game bad because x change creates y problems that the original game(s) avoided. Smaller fields makes everything cluttered even though it's trying to accommodate up to 8 potential real life players on a single screen. Ambitious, but introduced a ton of problems.

    • @vray7607
      @vray7607 2 года назад

      @@jupiterofthemonkeyii5569 Preferences I get, but the level amount of it seems very disagreeable. The smaller fields also allow better use for the tech in this game, along with sprinting mechanics to cover more ground unlike the past two (the first only really differentiated with the ball).
      I really do think people aren't giving the game and it's mechanics a fair shake and pretty much tossing it aside as "bad" instead of trying to figure it out. I was iffy on some things at first and then I figured it out and it honestly was pretty good. Not my favorite, but pretty good. I get people's preferences, but I would find it very hard for folks to claim this game is bad for reasons other than it just requiring a different approach (and the whole thrusting the content problems from the past games onto this one despite it not being nearly as bad nor hindering the game itself)
      Edit: And I don't want to say this game is perfect or whatnot. It's not. But I do think a good amount of the heavy criticism isn't well thought out or just petty. Some of it does make sense and some is just indeed preferences. I would also say the game hasn't been out for a week yet. I'd give it some time to get more used to it.

    • @jupiterofthemonkeyii5569
      @jupiterofthemonkeyii5569 2 года назад

      @@vray7607 Eh, how much time do you think this game deserves. The test kick and buying it and playing for a week seems like "giving it a chance".
      It just sounds like you forced yourself to like it and are lamenting others for not doing the same.
      Smaller fields. They're the least varied of the series and directly lead to a ton of visual clutter and you have people actively complaining that they can't keep track of what's going on. That's a problem, not a preference.
      This was a super easy series to pick up and play, now it's, "just keep playing and adapt until you get used to it so you can say nice things". Two different buttons for passing and lobbing is something that makes zero sense, but this wasn't an issue before. That's not a preference.

    • @vray7607
      @vray7607 2 года назад

      @@jupiterofthemonkeyii5569 This is easily the highest skill ceiling of the three. I expect it not to be an easy game to just pick up and play. There's a difference between something being a fundamental problem and having to approach the game different because it's "trying to be different". I didn't force myself to like it, I played and learned the meta fine.
      If you don't like that's fine, I'm just saying it's like folks complaining that this game isn't as balls to the walls bulletin like Charged was because it's not trying to be charged. There's clear reasons behind these design choices and while they're not "perfect" they also don't "ruin" the game if people actually put effort into playing the game.
      Even the guy in this very review started enjoying it more after a few hours of playing it.

    I can't say that I agree with many of the points here because it feels like the reviewer wants to play previous games instead of being open to a new experience. Stuff like complaining about people trying to keep the ball when the opponent has a hyper strike is pretty much complaining about using a valid strategy to win a game. Fields are smaller, balancing that as the opponent has to endure the pression of being at constant risk of losing the ball. Same with having to pick items as it's part of the gameplay to choose to continue to attack/pursue or back down for an item and risk allowing the rival to progress. Feeling "wrong" a simple button swap makes me think that the person didn't spend as much time with the game as they think or that their adaptability to the game was hindered by having a negative attitude towards those changes instead of trying to understand them and adapt.
    Don't get me wrong, the reviewer is certainly within his right to dislike the game or at least some aspects of it and their perception is completely valid and the review is well done. I do agree that the game takes time to adapt and that it's really fast and a bit confusing at first because of it's fast pacing with constant things happening in a smaller field. But I feel that while the changes did make a more technical game with a higher skill level that takes more time to get used to, it also allowed a much more enjoyable online experience in the long run with gameplay that has actual depth.

    • @Ronnm89
      @Ronnm89 2 года назад

      Just because something is a 'valid strategy' doesn't mean you can't have an issue with it. Design choices dictate what is viable and what is not. Ouch, I guess First kick was a shot on the foot for Nintendo then, because when I played it I came to my own almost complete conclusions of "Yeah it's fun but it's got a couple problems" and the tipping point was my sister playing a total of one match and getting so frustrated with not understanding anything that she wouldn't play another one (that's why I played alone when I was with you Andre, wanted to see if it could be a 4v4 lol)
    I was kinda hoping in this review you'd say "Online is a little lacking but Jesus Christ the story mode makes Celeste's story look like a child's story oh and there's unlockables there and there's daisy and Diddy just like in supercharged and like there are tons more gear and it changes a lot more than stats and the clubs are way more fun than they sounded and like" but nothing like that happened

    Having these timing related shots/passes are not my cup of tea.
    I haven't played Battle League so feel free to correct me, but it seems like you don't need to work as hard for your goals in here compared to Charged.
    The bigger field in Charged made it possible to strategize which doesn't seem the case here anymore - it's more like a fast paced mess.
    In Charged every character had a different kind of dodge, which made counterplays really interesting. Than we have the charged ball, which was pretty much always required on a high level for a goal to happen. You needed to pass the ball around, charge-dodging or free-kick the ball on the wall/infront of you to keep the charge - and everything of this while not handing over the ball to the enemy. It was high risk - high reward.
    And in Battle League: Make perfect pass/shot -> high chance of goal. No risk, just the right timing.
    It feels weird.
    I dunno how many different ways of making goals there are in Battle League, but Charged had a lot of them, besides simply shooting on the goal. You could even perfectly time the diddy kong dodge to jump over the keeper and score a goal. You could make a high shot aimed against the wall to make a mid-air shot in the goal, even without a teammate passing high.
    Don't get me started on the teammates special full charged shots.
    It just feels like a huge downgrade. The only part I like is the free aimed passing mechanic, but anything else just feels worse.

Yea forget all of that”
    I’ve been genuinely dreaming about a new strikers game and when it got announced I was on cloud 9 for a while. With more trailers & the demo dropping, I’m starting to come to a conclusion I never thought or wanted to happen, which is that I think charged is significantly better. Obviously I need to give BL a try and get used to the weirdness (seriously why is A and B switched?! I don’t care about changing my button mapping on the switch because then my controls will then be wrong for every other game)
    I’m obviously very happy that they aren’t just letting the series die, but maybe they can add a mode that’s much more similar to charged so something to appeal to peeps like me, where only captains can do hyper strikes, and they give the other teammates skill shots (that second bit is asking too much but copium)
    I’m mainly hoping that I can still have fun in this game of course and I think that’ll happen, also I’m very excited to see who and what they add with updates

I'll miss the specific music genres of character themes and animation attitudes, but the new animations are just as lovely. I'd love to see more stages as well. I can't wait to fully play the game!

    Every Mario sports game (or Kart) on Switch have some sort of statistics - which character You've played the most, etc. Does this one have that as well? Would be nice to know who is the best goalscorer in You entire experience with this game :D

    I only played Mario strikers once on the GameCube when I was a kid. I don’t even remember how I felt about the first game.
