What really angers me is that the game isn't fully voice acted. The side characters don't have voice acting in 70% of their dialogues, while Three Houses and Echoes were fully dubbed. Besides, the the English translation (and the European ones that derive from it) has changed A LOT the meaning of the dialogues, significantly tweaking many character's personalities. One of the women is completely ridiculous now, while in Japanes, although she wasn't great, she was at least a character.

The variation was nice though. Not in the sense that the heaps of socializing and time management from 3H was amazing, it was alright. But it set up some massive appreciation for a traditional FE release.

I’m glad to see they ditched the silent protagonist. I’ve only played Three Houses but lots of other games have a silent protag and the only ones that didn’t feel awkward to me were Persona 4 and 5.

I'm enjoying engage, its not my favorite but all the micro managing you have to do in three houses outside of the major gameplay made it difficult for me to play it more then once.
Healers being the weakest link? uhhhhhhhhh they've always been necessary bastions that can save any hardcore run. and they usually get stronger once they can start casting some offensive magic.

And if you really hate it that much you can literally skip the vast majority including teaching with auto options if you're fine with minimal recruitment (you probably aren't going to drastically change your roster anyways) and aren't going for a certain route (even then you only need to talk to one person in a specific chapter, that's it). Monastery only drags if you try to min max everything (which is totally unnecessary given the difficulty of the game and mostly due to fishing) and if you hate or are completely apathetic to the characters. It is entirely possible to beat the game with minimal monastery outside of maddening difficulty.

I'm so down for a Fire Emblem more focused on the core gameplay and less on the social aspects. Very excited to play Engage.

100%! I've actually come despise the recent games because of their social aspects. Feels more like a dating sim than a strategy game.

Your feeling is right. This isn't a completely new part, this is Colgate toothpaste's first game to promote the brand.
It's more of a 35th anniversary tribute game, thus all the past characters appearing. It is also the most approachable of the titles for newcomers.
