Him. + Tiki... Holy crap. Not even reclassed yet, 30-40 in EVERY stat. He can solo the entire game for me. Made him high priest or w/e (stave/magic/fists) he one shots everyone. Doubles everyone. Dodges everything. Literally soloed whole maps with him, and he's ended with full hp.
I find it funny that Clanne who starts out as a Mage is your pick for an Axe Fighter, and that Anna who starts out as an Axe Fighter is your pick for a Mage.
@@definitelynotanarcissist.3135No, they just didn't design the characters with reclassing in mind. The idea for Anna is a warrior who can make excellent use of magic weapons such as the radiant bow and Clanne being a good mixed attacking mage knight, but they just didn't think about reclassing or it wasn't even in the game when they designed it.
🤯 you’re right! I was getting Clanne and Framme mixed up. Thank you for clarifying! Re-classing him into a physical attacker is still what I recommend strictly based on stat growths 💪🏼
@@FetchQuestsYT I tried seeing how Celica ring would do since he's a mystical unit and gets bonuses from her ring on passives. He was still poop. I am giving up on this plan lol
@@justhereforfun7288 I don't have tons of time to play so I'm trying to get as much content done in one run as I can. Then the for fun runs are down the road :P in the end I'll spam skirmish for bond support enough that it won't matter what lvl ppl are
I left Jean as a Martial Master. He ended up with relatively even stats with Magic and Strength. This allowed him to absolutely tear enemies apart with his fists while also being able to use staves when needed.
Jean really should take adv of utilizing both str/mag given his generous personal skill - mage knight or martial. I can also see him going full phys and then using a magic emblem (or vice-versa)
@@TheOftenElusive i really did like martial. i think the one drawback of the class is that it has no range support at all. (and the growths looked bad -admittedly i forgot that Jean had the Donnel Stat Buff lol)
another tip, do not second seal into a base class. This game tracks your levels throughout your characters leveling and class changing so for example: Vander starts as a level 1 Paladin meaning he is a level 20 unit. So promoting from a base class ASAP is the best way to get better growths and exp as your hidden level determins your exp gain and while in a Advanced at the intital level of 10 and level 1 lets say Paladin again. So a level 20 Paladin earns less exp than a level 10 Paladin plus you play with the advance class longer meaning you can abuse the growth rates more on a playthrough. If you are worried about "how would i promote into another Advance class?" Once you Master Seal from a base class and into an Advanced class so long as you have the weapon profiencys to swap to another Advanced class your level wont reset and you can be a hidden level 10 Paladin and swap to a hidden level 10 Warrior as when you second seal, your tracked level stays the same; i hope this helps as i only found this out at the end of my playthrough on hard.
Good to keep in mind, but I still think there is a good time for second sealing a base class, Clanne being a good example. Leveling someone in the wrong class is worse than staying in base classes for a couple of extra levels. Even if advanced classes have better growths, that is irrelevant if your growths are in magic while you are dependent on strength. For the most part, I agree with you, though, because most characters base classes are okay for their growths. (The only real exception to the rule is Anna, Clanne, and MAYBE Framme if you catch it really early)
Honest question I have a maddening playthrough that I'm playing more traditionally and a hard playthrough I'm using just to grind out units and max everyone I like, if I don't mind the grind does it make sense to still promote early or would getting the extra 10 levels be better?
Actually lineage is great in the early game, but when you get byleth everyone should use mentorship instead as it provides adjacent units with the same 20% xp growth. Also, jean can class into whatever he likes. Starsphere combined with expertise means he should be maxing stats as early as level 30.
Jean is a character who is supposed to become a specialist. His personal skill doubles the growth rates of the class he’s in, so you want to find classes that have a 30% growth rate in magic, Atk, Spd, ect.
I agree if you do not have the tiki dlc, but if you do it's pointless to get a 30% growth class since those are extremely focused and will get you to cap to early, Jean prefer an even spread so he can cap most stats. he has a +2 cap to magic though so he would rather go for magic.
Personally I find he makes an extremely effective General or Berserker. Doubling the Bld stat growth of those classes can make him a girthy boy to make excellent use of heavy weapons. It's very easy to reclass him to something else later on to better make use of his magic stat cap and he'll still have absurd HP and Str/Defense depending on which class you aimed for.
Jean and Anna are both star members of my team. Jean is a dodge tank Wolf Knight that can one-shot almost any unit with either Silver Daggers or Levin Sword. As for Anna, I reclassed her to High Priest since its a magic class with great Luck growth (+30 for 75% total Luck growth) so I can make the most of her personal skill. Anna currently has over 30 Luck, would probably be higher if I reclassed her earlier.
Correction on Jean's personal passive: he doubles the growth rates of the class he's in. So berserker, for example, gives him 60% bonus HP and STR growth instead of their normal 30% bonus.
@Oggre Royal Knight still makes good use of magic as a stat. Immediately you are still using staves so extra healing or % chance to inflict status effects is good, but eventually you can just give him a Flame Spear as well.
@@Oggre I had him as tiki high priest in my maddening run and by the end he was a top 3 unit behind Main character and my Ike/axe general Panette (100% crit). He had WAY higher stats than everyone else like mid to high 200s in total? I’m on and off doing a new playthrough with him as a wyvern master to take advantage of the doubled class growths and think he looks cool with the goggles on a dragon. So far he’s leveling nearly everything every time (still with tiki starsphere). Whatever works for him as long as you get him in advanced class ASAP and get tiki on him from ch6 onward, but yeah high priest Jean helped me beat the game on maddening.
Wyvern is probably the best class in the game so since he can basically be the best version of every class as long as you start early enough...yeah. wyvern.
I had Jean stay as a Martial Master. I really loved the idea of a small child punching the heck out of zombies. The kid is a beast, he killed many a boss in my playthrough. He truly has the fists of fury. (I also gave him Emblem Edelgard)
I believe she has the highest defense growth rate in the game. Personally I went Wyvern Lord. She functioned like Haar from Radiant Dawn. Didn't even matter if people used bows against her, it just bounced right off.
I made Lady Anna a sword/axe hero paired with Tiki. She has a levin sword as well as physical weapons so she adapt all the time, though she usually just kills thin while engaged. She’s a monster.
I made her a high priest because not only does she have high magic, but it also gives her really high luck which is really good for farming money And even stuck with the El-level tomes she was STILL tearing enemies apart in endgame Hard mode
@@deathby1808 Tiki's also a pretty solid one to give her if you have the DLC, gain access to HP/Luck +10 on top of the luck bonus you get just from having Tiki equipped
Expertise and Starsphere can both apply, but saying they "stack" is a bit weird. Starsphere is a flat +15% to all character growths, while Expertise doubles the growths from Classes. So Expertise doesn't double Starsphere's bonus. Starsphere+Expertise *is* the only way to get a non-HP Growth above 100% though, meaning a guarenteed +1 and rarely +2.
Not a reclass idea but I also noticed Anna's mgc growth was high and she does crazy with the radiant bow which uses your mgc stat instead of str stat. So she does well with any class that can use a bow, I believe you don't even have to reclass her because whatever natural class she promotes into is capable of using bows. Either way she's been a powerhouse on my team just with that bow alone
I actually re-classed my Anna to Sword Flier then Griffin Knight with a Levin Sword and she wrecks havoc alongside my Louis with maxed out defense and resistance.
Anna will do well with any magical weapon. You can move her into something like Hero or Swordmaster and have her abuse the Levin Sword. There's also a magical axe.
@@drygnfyre the Hurricane Axe is what it's called, smashes foes causing them to move back a tile after combat, but being a "wind" weapon it does get a damage bonus against fliers
Jean Swordmaster is kind of nuts and eventually rivals Kagetsu in some aspects. He will get a much more consistent +mag growth and thus be able to use the Levin Sword very well.
I reclassed Etie into an Hero,bi think it complements her strength and ho growths and helps bring up her speed and other stats to an acceptable level. And Lady Anna into a mage.
I personally benched Etie and kept Lady Anna as a Warrior. She shreds things about as good as Fogado does with the Radiant Bow. For my next run I’ll probably do that, though.
@Jet_seT I'm by no means an expert, but I think axe or sword fighter are Etie's best bases. Axr pushes her HP, STR and Build, but sword bumps her speed and dex alot.
For a lower investment Etie, I recommend having her gain Axe proficiency from Leif and then simply making her a Warrior upon promotion. Still makes use of her natural Bow ability and makes her a very effective Backup unit for some extra damage. Still makes use of her high strength and the better HP growth gives her a bit more sustainability.
@Casey Lantz warrior feels more like her natural path rather than sniper. My only issue is it's lower speed caps. But she's fast enough to nit get doubled often and you can make her a crit monster.
In my current playthrough, I made Clanne an Axe Cavalier, promoting to Paladin, and Jean changed to a Sniper (I probably should have made him something else, since Alcryst exists, but he still was crazy strong with a longbow). And yeah, I made Anna a Mage, turning into a Sage.
Id recommend making Anna a High Priest instead. You lose some magic damage but get a crazy high luck instead. I believe it can get up to 58, which means frequent triggers of her ability
Panette reclass, or in her case second seal, to a warrior. Her massive str and hp allows her to excel plus the bow gives you access to the critical bow which synergies with her passive. Add in the fact that the warrior skill is more useful for damage than the berserker and run her with the brave axe and you have a power house hitting for 160+ dmg on axes or 90+ crits with the bow that can be boosted using engraving to 70% base chance. This puts her within 100% territory if her passive procs and you run wrath on her.
I turned Jean into a divine cleric, or something like that- the staff tome and martial one. He turned from a healer into a magic tank who can nuke in return
Same. He almost feels broken. He can heal just as well as he can kill. Even characters with high resistance get bodied by my Jean. Mine can also heal as he heal others.
That's High Priest, and is arguably his best class. For exactly that reason: he can break tomes, use magic, and heal (including himself). Tons of utility. Also he's probably the best user of body arts because the physical attack value is determined by might + the average of STR and MAG, both stats which can increase quickly on Jean.
Did a run of soloing the game with Jean on hard. Griffin knight was amazing for Avoid tanking, aswell as having high str and mag caps to allow you to switch between spears and fire lances. There was not a single enemy Jean couldn't one round. (Except for last boss obviously)
I made Anna a griffon Rider with a Levin sword, she not even capped yet and she does around 60magic attack and has 133 avoid, and 40 speed can solo anything and barely take any dmg. It's scary seeing her delete over half of the Wyrm's health and still standing.
‼️ Thank you everyone! I got bro/sis mixed up. Clanne starts as a Mage. Re-classing Clanne into a physical attacker is still what I recommend strictly based on stat growths 💪🏼 Also! Expertise differs from Aptitude in that it doubles class growths, it doesn’t increase each stat’s growths-Thank you for your comments on that as well!
Framme benefited so much when I finally get her promoted to Martial Master. I don't know if I got really RNG blessed, but she one-shots every mage now, and has a huge amount of Avoid. I have no idea why she got so good but I'm not complaining.
Warrior Anna is actually extremely good. Her natural magic growth makes her a great user of the Radiant Bow which scales off of the magic stat. That paired with the overpowered Longbow and the axe you get from the Fire Emblem Heroes link makes her a single unit powerhouse. Getting Liefs skill Adaptable makes her basically unstoppable.
Warrior Anna is pretty good yes, but she's far from unstoppable. Her defense is garbage, and her res caps low too. She gets one-rounded by basically everything, the only things she does survive she does so barely because of the class has a pretty good HP stat. Being able to switch weapons on enemy phase to counter doesn't really help if you just die. Don't get me wrong, she desroys wyverns and generals with the radiant bow and chunks down anything else pretty well too, a solid glass cannon unit.
my top 3 reclasses in my run have been mage knight lapis for some reason, wyvern knight Jade for the Ladislava that 3H denied us and Thief Framme who I still have no idea why she works so well but like she just doesn't get hit. I also turned Anna into a Gryphon Knight and just plop her in the middle of rooms with a Hurricane Axe.
I turned Anna into a Mage Knight & inherited Edelgard's lineage & the highest possible HP+/Luck+ from Tiki! Actually giving some of my bench units the Tiki Ring with HP/Luck+ & Lineage is great for having them survive battle & gain exp!
One thing though, if your unit is close to or ready for promotion by the time you can second seal them, then it's best to promote them first due to how the experience gain works in this game. You don't get a penalty to Exp for being in a promoted class, but you do for having a high internal level and you can reset your class level once you reach 20 with a second seal anyways. Otherwise your character is gonna be stuck in an unpromoted class for 10 more levels
Yes-Agreed IF you’re able to promote to a desired Advanced class. In my examples though, I couldn’t promote Clanne into a Warrior or Jean into a Halberdier until they were level 10 of their Base class (Axe fighter and Lance fighter). Same with Anna, I wanted her to be a Sage but I can’t until she’s a level 10 Mage first
@@FetchQuestsYT when you promote all the side promotions change requirements from "lvl 10 of the base class" to "lvl 1 of any advanced class", meaning you can level up to 10 in the starting class, promote, then immediately second seal into the advance class you want. Its just an easier path for characters you are actively using like Jean who will naturally gain levels before unlocking second seals, instead of benching them till ch 12 you use them as always then take then do the master seal -> second seal at lvl 10 to arrive at your final class
I personally made my Anna a Wolf Knight and paired her with Eirika and she became a bit of a crit demon with a killer axe in my playthrough. The highest I got crit on her was around 65%
you missed out that Anna has a luck growth of 45. Only a few units have 50. Luck is a key trigger for her unique skill, so I made her a bow knight (+15). Mages only gain +5. A sage might be a good shout (also +15)
Panette reclass into General was my number 1 unit in my maddening run I recently finished. I had her paired with Ike and had the geoshere+ ability for survivability with axe prowess for extra damage. With Ike’s wrath and her passive, she would have +40 crit once she’d taken some damage, also once under 75% health, with resolve+ from Ike and geosphere, her defense and resistance would increase by 12 EACH and were already high from a lot of leveling in the general class (plus some talismans) If she needs more defense or resistance, she can equip whichever Ike weapon boost she needs, and if she uses great aether she gets 10 MORE defense (armored unit effect) and 5 res. In all, she would regularly have her +22 defense, +17 resistance, +weapon defense, and a 40% boost to crit. I gave her a killer axe and tomahawk with engravings for extra crit, and with her 40+ dexterity, she would have literal 100% crit rates on MOST enemies. Danced her almost every turn as she could guarantee one shot ANYONE and also just refused to die despite her 0 avoid. Game breaking S tier Reclass. Berserker is literally so bad.
For my first playthrough, I tried to keep all my units in their base class trees (except Goldmary, who I made a Halberdier for a little while before reclassing back to S/L Hero). For my next playthrough I’ll probably do more reclassing, including a Halberdier. Definitely will reclass Jean this time around. He WAS my best healer in my first playthrough, though. As for Clanne, I benched him the second I got to Brodia. Would’ve made him a Mage Knight if I did promote him though. Anna was amazing as a Warrior for me with the Radiant Bow and Leif. Might reclass her into some flavor of magic user next playthrough though.
Same with Anna. Didn’t know her growths my first play through and as soon as I got the radiant bow on her she became one of the best units in my team one rounding literally everything.
Anna is my wolfknight for her massive luck bonus and luck rates for wolf night she currently has around 68 luck which triggers her personal skill giving tons of gold. She also has a pretty good dex growth so throwing her in thief or wolf knight is arguably just as strong as mage.
How is it possible to get 1500 sp for the starsphere? That means you can never really unlock anything else until final chapter or two? Do those stats outweigh canter and wrath and other skills?
My Anna had terrible magic stats for some reason so I made her a warrior and she's a ruthless little beast I love her. Maybe in another playthrough I'll give magic a try though.
Her base class has a huge -MAG mod, so if you only looked at that it may make her look a lot worse than she is. Fetch is right with her gaining a point nearly every level using an actual magic class. She has one lowest base STR growth rates in the game (15) - which makes her a bit rough as a melee fighter unless you're using MAG scaling weapons.
that's because you didn't second seal her soon enough. Her base magic stat is like 2 or 3 as an axe fighter. you need to class change her to balance out the stat, it'll drop her str down and boost her mag for an immediate impact.
I actually kept my Clanne as a Mage and went into Mage Knight with him. I'm not sure if I got really lucky, but all his stats right now are in the mid-twenties or higher. He's literally my best unit and I can use him to burst or tank at the same time.
Thank you for explaining! I was wondering how people reclassed (lady) Anna so we can make more money with her personal skill I was lvl 15 and didn't know how...For me, Jean is a beast without reclassing, he defeats archers and monks with cuadruple hits.
High Priest gives Anna the best growth rates in Luck, while letting her use tomes. You give up some MAG growth but if you want to maximize her personal, that's the best class. On the other hand, if you don't want to second seal her, she can still be viable as a Warrior with Radiant Bow.
@@drygnfyre Not sure if high priest is the best, but I prefer sage. Reason being is that you're kinda limited to the tomes you can use, and probably forced to wear olwen bond ring
@@t_kon High Priest offers the best Luck growth, so it's the class to be in if you want to maximize the chance for Anna's skill to proc. If you want raw damage output, then Sage is probably better. Both classes are good, it really comes down to what you want.
My favourite reclass is Chloe as a Martial Master. Her Strength and Magic are identical most of the time for brawling. Plus her Speed was decent enough for her to quad nearly all the time.
I kept Jean as a monk and then changed him to a high priest. He pretty much gets 4 attacks against any melee attack and if I want to enemy turn tank I throw him out there with a spell like elwind or thunder. He doesnt fail at doing anything as that class and can even heal himself while on solo missions.
On all my playtrpughs trough maddening the best performance alear had on all of then was when i reclassed him into a goddam wyver knight, i've seen peaple making alear as a divine dragon or even griffin knights, but even after trying those, wyvern knight was the best one by far, i beleive the reason is the extra strengh growth on wyvern knight. On divine dragon and griffin knight you'll always be able to double enemies, but all double hits will deal pitiful damege since alear's strengh growth is pitiful for what is expected from a physical damege dealing fire emblem protagonist (just look at byleth for an exemple) but wyvern knight fixes that by adding 20 strengh growth, and since alear is already a dragon, the extra dragon effectiveness isn't a problem, the lack of divine dragon's class skill wasn't a problem becouse now i could still double hit and, with the added strengh, therefore one-shot with libaration consistently so i recharged my engage meter pretty easely, you don't nead the extra spead and dexterity from griffin knight couse wyver knight might not have as great spd and dex growths, but it isn't much lower then divine dragon and griffin knight, so you'll still be able to double and crit everything couse alear already have broken spd and dex growths, the only problem was the lack of res growth, but that can be midigated by one-shotting mages with the extra strengh you get from wyver knight's growths.
I stuck to thematics and promoted Jean to a High Priest. He is my Dire Thunder sweeper and i do not regret stumbling on to that role for him lol. Also, giving him canter was an amazing choice.
Would Framme be 4th? I made her a wolf knight on my second playthrough, surprisingly her magic was higher than her strength, so I comboed that with Michaia. For Jean I made him a sword lance hero on my first playthrough (didn't end up liking the class) and made him a berserker on my second playthrough, honestly he's a goat no matter what you do with him.
I've been playing on maddening, so reclassing jean out of a staff class felt like it would be shooting myself in the foot a bit w the reduced xp gain. I like the idea of him as a lance backup though, I will have to try that next playthrough!
So what ppl are starting to realize about Lady Anna, sage isn't actually too good for her. Yes she has high magic and speed growths but her main issue is her build stat. As we know weapons have weight and build helps mitigate the weight effect. Anna's build is very bad if you go sage. and tomes are heavy. This leaves her very susceptible to getting doubled and her measly defences mean she's getting one shot. As someone who went sage Anna, it's not worth the hassle as she takes a lot of investment and is made of thin paper. The best approach for Anna is to actually keep her in an axe class. Go warrior and let her use the radiant bow, a bow that uses your magic stat instead of your physical. Another option is to gi mage knight so that she gets better build. High priest is also good for stave access and higher luck growths which synergies with Anna's personal skill. Basically, sage Anna is pretty underwhelming whe compared fo her competitors as a pure mage.
Jean's skill does not increase stat growths across the board, it doubles his class's growth rates. So he's extremely customizable, things like sage or berserker with 30% growths in their main stats become monsters for him but he easily can become unbalanced as a result (without tiki) since his personal stat growths tend to be lower without any standout stats on their own.
@@FetchQuestsYT Since you went Lance Fighter to Halberdier it basically functioned that way since those classes have an even spread of growths. He's an interesting character where second sealing a couple times might make sense since setting him as a general for a bit can really up str def and bld fast before moving him over to a different class. Really liked how they handled his skill compared to the prior "villager" type characters.
I put Jean in the advanced version of his base class. No other unit is that class and he is dealing 25x2 + 25x2 on normal enemies with fists. Silver fists is 20x2 + 20x2, which is still VERY strong. He's able to ORKO a lot of units on his own on hard. Not sure about Maddening, but the Starsphere combo is much less effective ib maddening anyways as inherit skills gain more importance.
started recently here. if for example, i want to reclass Anna, do i have to use a second seal as axe fighter at lvl20, or should i promote her, then use a second seal after? i hear so much information on these that i'm actually lost lol, like it's better to promote at lv10 directly, but my units are like 12 and i don't have access to any master seals yet.
Yeah promote as early as possible because there are no downsides and you get better stats and growths. Later, once you hit lvl20 as your promoted class you can use a second seal to reset your level. Weird that you have no master seals with all lvl 12s though. Have you checked the item shop?
I actually wouldn’t recommend inheriting Starsphere as it’s value falls of as you level. It’s better to just where the ring until a few levels in to the advanced class and use that 1500 sp on actually making the character stronger. This is different for Jean of course since he has the unique interaction with his personal but Ana can inherit the hp luck from tiki instead and augment her own personal this way. Once she gotten a few levels you can put byleth or celica on her and she is pretty spooky as either sage or high priest (which augments her luck further)
Best site I’ve found is Serenes Forest: serenesforest.net/engage/classes/growth-rates/ ^ that link is for class growths. On that page there’s a link to show you character growths 💪🏼
Lapis is also a high-value reclass I find. She's gonna be one of your fastest units no matter what, and her strength/defense is pretty nice for if you want to go into Warrior. She can realistically one-round Maddening dark beasts, which comes in handy pretty often during the lategame.
Anna is even better reclassed to Martial Monk for the stronger growths if you have the DLC to get Arts unlock alongside Staff unlock, then she can equip Celica for use as a tactical nuke until level 10. After promoting to High Priest she can very likely hold her own without an Emblem, or rock with Tiki in battle for the extra Lck and bulk. She can use Byleth in late game if he's not busy with someone else.
So Anna comes in like base level 5... Are you suggesting getting her to max base level and then reclassing to base mage? Because se comes in level 5 I can't reclass her with second seal... Only master seal into advance...
Honestly when I first played the game, I Second Sealed her into a Mage once she was about level 10. But that meant I had to level her 9 more times to get to level 10 again to Master Seal into a Sage. What I recommend when you have both a Master Seal and a Second Seal is getting her to level 10 as an axe fighter and promoting her using a Master Seal. Then, you can immediately Second Seal her into whatever Advanced class you want if you have the right proficiency
Is vander salavable when reclassing because he’s BEGGING me to deploy him for next battle but I don’t want him to get one rounded by a sage or swordmaster
Berserker Jean. Gives him crazy strength and HP growth with Starsphere, and combined with Ike's Great Aether and Reprisal+ he basically lives everything on enemy phase then kills everything on player phase. He's basically a tactical nuke
In maddening difficulty I use Jean with tiki to level up to 15 in chapter 7 (surround an archer and getting experience by healing). Then re-classed to sword wyvern knight (master seal to martial master then second seal). Gave him a killer axe and a levin sword he can pretty much handle all the enemies. In the 15 monk levels with Tiki he gains extremely high mag (85%) and res (75%) growth, which makes him highly resistant to magic damage as a wyvern knight. His high magic is perfect to deal with heavy armors with levin sword. He has high str and def growth after re-classed to wyvern knight (75% and 80%). Also I think Jean is the only character who can benefit Tiki's growth boost from level 1 and level up to 10+ within 1 chapter (Framme is possibly another).
I kept Jean as a healer - staff/fists/magic for the promoted class. But he’s my wall character. I have him Tiki right out of the level and LOVE the breath attacks. Even when he reverts back to human he tanks most hosts for a few rounds.
I re-classed Jean to thief and he has been shredding through enemies and nearly soloing maps. Anna I moved over to mage before classing her back to Warrior (didn’t get staff prof in time) but she has been killing it with the radiant bow. I may change her class again because Warrior’s magic stat caps at 21. Clanne unfortunately I didn’t change. I might make him a spear fighter next time to round out my trio phys/mag units.
I enjoyed FE Engage a lot, and I wanna replay it sometime. When I do so I'm gonna do a Royal-less run (I leaned hard on the royal characters so I wanna try a new team of dudes) and this vid is a good help for that! Tho I didn't need to be sold on Lady Anna, she was a mainstay on my 1st playthrough and I'm absolutely putting her on my team again! (At the least the next run will still be a fun change of pace, last time I reclassed Anna as a Wolf Knight so it'll be fun to try a magical Lady Anna!)
I kept Jean as a monk and later made him a martial monk. In the beginning it was kinda rough, he'd fall in battle quite a bit (I play on casual like a total weenie), but later on he became nearly underfeatable. I eventually made Lady Anna a warrior but let me tell you, it required some recourses to make It work. Gave her a bunch of perms stat boost items and in the end she became a pretty strong unit
For me Clanne has been one of my best units and I have kept him as a sage early on. Pairing him with Michiah early on to get staff proficiency. The good thing about him is that he will pick up a point or two in build and with his decent speed and dexterity growth, he will always be reliable and double attacking enemies. He will also suffer less attack speed penalties compared to other units meaning he would be able to use heavier tomes. Promoting him to sage early on can improve his magic growth rate (about 40% chance) and then you have second seals to keep advancing his growth. As he is available early on, the investment pays off. Tempted to try mageknight and some of the other suggestions people made. Later on I pair Clanne with Byleth.
I left Clanne, but plan on using him in my next run. Jean I made a high priest healer and regret it deeply, I should have made him a griffon knight a lot earlier and let him be a physical unit.
Jean's personal does stack with Starsphere. The latter is a flat +15% bonus on top of all other growths. So if your unit normally has 85% growth in one stat, Starsphere guarantees that stat goes up every level-up. So Jean can get really good really fast.
I reclassed Anna lapis into sword/axe flyers so they can be Griffith knights along side Chloe I also wanted to make both Louis jade into great knights while making Amber a royal knight Clanne could have been a mage knight if he didn’t die in hard mode I also wanted to make alcrst in to a bow knight but I later changed my mind about it
I’m doing an all magic user run. Clanne is my mage knight using Thoron and Lucina for those assists and Jean is probably my strongest sage now. I’ve been benching him so I can get my other sages some xp
i honestly forgot to use my jean at some point because i had alot of magic classes that had staffs. in my next playthrough i will make him an offensive unit tho.
Jean is my best boy! Just started the game literally few days ago but he's going to be my Martial Monk. I originally wanted to do Framme first but Jean is taking the first place.
I kept Anna as an axe unit, and made her berserker, did very good damage but bad hit rate. Gave +hit from Sigurd and Emblem Ike because she has around 10-15 defense stats which means Ike helps a lot with her bulk. Also wrath and 60+ hp.
@@Bezhodeft The hp makes her great for the vantage/wrath combo, but she takes so much damage if the foe survives. Ike is very good in giving some bulk, he gives extra bulk when damaged. And she reached 70 hp, which means she has full wrath at 40 hp.
When I made Clanne a mage knight, his magic never got as high as Ivy’s, but his strength did grow a lot. That was an indication that I should’ve reclassed him. But I had two axe units already and Ivy was my only mage.
I benched Jean as I got him and I was planning to use Anna for her amazing growths but she fell behind in levels by quite a lot to the point that I used that time to invest heavily in Yunaka and Lapis instead. As for Clanne, he actually has been pretty good as a mage, with him having almost 20 in 4 different stats as a level 15 base unit but I still intend to reclass him to a Monk to allow him to use B rank staffs like Warp and to make more use out of him as a mixed attacker.
I definitely agree with Anna being #1. However, from what I've experienced (I'm on my first playthrough) is that the "Mage" role is a highly saturated one. Meaning there are so many quality Mage characters at your disposal that I began to wonder... do I really need ANOTHER one? For instance, I made Jean into a Mage Knight, he has excellent MAG stats. Then I had Celine who was actually pretty solid for me through 10 chapters, but was sadly replaced by my Jean. Then we get Ivy, who is a great mage, but really lacks in speed. And we get her sister, who is also very flexible as a mage or support. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with yet lol. So I am stacked with Mages at the moment, with Anna obviously being the best of the bunch. But do I really need 4 great magic users? I dunno.... Maybe I should have respec'ed Jean into a physical class instead. I don't really feel the need to ever take more than 3 magic users into battle.
Ok…….so let’s talk about the maths with Starsphere…..if you get mentor from Byleth you get for 250SP an ability that gives you 20% extra xp and alies around you. Tikis ability I believe gives a flat 15% growth on every stat. As there are stat caps in this game, mathematically it’s better to roll on every stat more often than to get this 15% bonus. At least in theory.
uh.... not really, cause you'll eventually hit the experience cap. After you reset your levels enough times, no matter what you'll always get 1 experience pts per action, 3 per kill. with the exception of the special mobs from silver skirmishes you'll hit a hard grindy wall.
I dropped Jean entirsly when for five straight levels, despite expertise, he only gained *two* statpoints on a level up. I assumed his growthrates in general were just too low to ever be usuable as anything...
Might be changing clanne to mage knight. Get's magic and a sword or any melee weapon of your choice as a bonus. So this way you can use his huge strength stat gain and get an ok mage unit. Now what to change Vander too.
The consensus is to “evolve” (😂 I like it) as early as possible-level 10. This game tracks your total level ups rather than your class level so you don’t lose out on EXP when you class change at level 10. You get the benefit of better growths that way 😊
I’ve heard other people say evolve but ok..glad you love it but that does suck there’s no point in leveling them in their first starting class now we just have to class change them asap otherwise they loose out on superior stat growths..sigh
With Anna sorry (I have to be more formal) Lady Anna you should give her 10 levels by feeding her kills. If you have the dlc you can give her marshall monk (Which is her best overall class and gives you insane luck stats exactly like 75%) I personally gave her byleth with the +12 luck which stacks with bylthes original luck boost and Tikis ability +10 luck/hp skill. This is mainly useful for money making but at the same time a really good unite.
Jean's personal skill specifically doubles class growths meaning since all mage classes including his starting class have at least 25 bonus growth which makes his magic growth on par with citrinne in sage. I reclassed him into sage and by the end of the game he had 39 base magic stat
Jean having excellent growth isn't surprising...he's the villager archetype in this fire emblem.
He's the Kliff and it's really weird that they made him a healer, but hey. Easier to level, I guess lol
Him. + Tiki...
@@wiliamkasper4844 Yikes, I've got to try that next time.
@@wiliamkasper4844yea I did that too was surprised how super effective he was

I find it funny that Clanne who starts out as a Mage is your pick for an Axe Fighter, and that Anna who starts out as an Axe Fighter is your pick for a Mage.
Perfectly balanced, as all things should be
Me who also mafe framme a mage
Shows how dumb the dev was that decided this.
I think they mixed up their growth rates and never bothered to fix it.
Clanne start out as a Mage, not a monk, so he does zero (0) healing in the early game
Ikr
🤯 you’re right! I was getting Clanne and Framme mixed up. Thank you for clarifying!
Re-classing him into a physical attacker is still what I recommend strictly based on stat growths 💪🏼

I left Jean as a Martial Master. He ended up with relatively even stats with Magic and Strength. This allowed him to absolutely tear enemies apart with his fists while also being able to use staves when needed.
Yeah that’s what I did, except I made him a High Priest. He was hitting super hard with magic when he found time do so.
@@shaunrpmusic i made him a high priest and he just became a magic sponge. it was great
Jean really should take adv of utilizing both str/mag given his generous personal skill - mage knight or martial.
I made mine a sword using griffin rider. His high magic stat with a levin sword was absolute chef kiss
i took jean as a swordmaster with a killing edge, had like 90% crit without really even trying, was insane
another tip, do not second seal into a base class.
Anna and clanne change early is essential
I am trying....but so hard for me to understand haha
@@briankelly1240 same here lol
Jean is pretty much the "villager class" for Engage.
yeah he can be anything. he's basically there to fill the void of any character type you may need.
Whats the best class for Jean in your opinion. I wanted to make him a Royal Knight but it feel like wasting his magic
Goldmary's a pretty good candidate for class change as well. She has naturally good defences which makes running her as a great knight a strong option
thats what I did on my first playthrough and she was basically immortal against everyone but mages
I believe she has the highest defense growth rate in the game.
Personally I went Wyvern Lord. She functioned like Haar from Radiant Dawn. Didn't even matter if people used bows against her, it just bounced right off.
@@NamelessDjinn same. So underwhelming as a hero but as a great knight with speedtaker she was really good
Wow, I made her into a great knight randomly lol
I made Lady Anna a sword/axe hero paired with Tiki. She has a levin sword as well as physical weapons so she adapt all the time, though she usually just kills thin while engaged. She’s a monster.
Funny thing about Anna, her Mag growth while in Mage is a whooping *85*%, for some reason she's built for magic
I made her a high priest because not only does she have high magic, but it also gives her really high luck which is really good for farming money
And even stuck with the El-level tomes she was STILL tearing enemies apart in endgame Hard mode
I made anna into a wolf knight for the extra luck growth, and I gave her byleth for the +12 luck. She pulled her weight in gold.
@@deathby1808 Tiki's also a pretty solid one to give her if you have the DLC, gain access to HP/Luck +10 on top of the luck bonus you get just from having Tiki equipped
@@juubi249 didn't think of that! I'll have to try that.
Good to know. I like bow users more.
I made Etie into a bow/axe knight paired with the emblem of rivals
This puts her within 100% territory if her passive procs and you run wrath on her.
yeah Berserker is just a bad class period, lol. they have no survivability, a literal glass canon.
I turned Jean into a divine cleric, or something like that- the staff tome and martial one. He turned from a healer into a magic tank who can nuke in return
High Priest? if so, same! wrecks armored, mages and archers and can use staves on himself, noice.
Same. He almost feels broken. He can heal just as well as he can kill. Even characters with high resistance get bodied by my Jean. Mine can also heal as he heal others.
Yup I went the High Priest route too. I think he's kicking Clanne off the team
3:37 Yes! More Jean/Halbirdier representation, he was a great unit to reclass
I didn't even think to try that class. When I get around to another run (probably on Maddening), I think I'll try it.
I wonder if they'll classes with later dlcs? It's a shame to have the thief class but no promotion for assassin.
I’d looooove to see that in later DLCs. I bought the expansion but it’s going to seem like forever until we get it! 🤞🏼
Re-classing Clanne into a physical attacker is still what I recommend strictly based on stat growths 💪🏼
Also! Expertise differs from Aptitude in that it doubles class growths, it doesn’t increase each stat’s growths-Thank you for your comments on that as well!
Fun fact Famme also has a high speed growth so she can make a great griffon rider/sword master. Except for maddening.
Lol I love it! 🤣
I personally made my Anna a Wolf Knight and paired her with Eirika and she became a bit of a crit demon with a killer axe in my playthrough. The highest I got crit on her was around 65%
I made Anna a wolf knight cause of the dodge and lick growth, and she goes on money runs when I’m low haha
Made Anna a General(axe) on casual, no ankle is safe when she is on my frontline.
you missed out that Anna has a luck growth of 45.
I love my warrior Lady Anna, she quickly became my mvp!! Both her and Etie are literally carrying me in my playthrough right now
Her base class has a huge -MAG mod, so if you only looked at that it may make her look a lot worse than she is.
I made Clanne a Mageknight. That way he has even strenght and magic so he can use the class-skill most effektiv.
How can you change Anna to mage I'm at level 10 and I can't change to mage same with clanne. Clanne can only use swards if he isn't using magic.
If i build Lady Anna wrong (melee) how to fix it? This game no new game plus 😢 did i need to start a new game to make Lady Anna strong.
Good to know, thank you! I thought it was all stat growths that were affected.
Maybe I’ve been getting lucky with my level ups 😅
@@FetchQuestsYT Since you went Lance Fighter to Halberdier it basically functioned that way since those classes have an even spread of growths. He's an interesting character where second sealing a couple times might make sense since setting him as a general for a bit can really up str def and bld fast before moving him over to a different class. Really liked how they handled his skill compared to the prior "villager" type characters.
@@FetchQuestsYT they are by having the class growths doubled.
I think they made Jean's stat growth's low on purpose for the sake of trying to balance out his skill
@@bulborb8756 They did that with Cyril in Three Houses so I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case
i Build Lady Anna Woft Knight, so she good on mag. any idea how to fix the state?
Ok. But what if you can't access the dlc? I'm playing on an emulator so I can't use the dlc.😢
So, uh... What did you do to make Jean a 143 overall Lv1 Lance Fighter? Cuz I know he didn't come out the box that way when you reclassed him.
started recently here.
if for example, i want to reclass Anna, do i have to use a second seal as axe fighter at lvl20, or should i promote her, then use a second seal after? i hear so much information on these that i'm actually lost lol, like it's better to promote at lv10 directly, but my units are like 12 and i don't have access to any master seals yet.
Yeah promote as early as possible because there are no downsides and you get better stats and growths. Later, once you hit lvl20 as your promoted class you can use a second seal to reset your level.
Weird that you have no master seals with all lvl 12s though. Have you checked the item shop?
@@DoggyP00 so you can't use second seal as a base class?
i did researches, and i think master seals unlock after a certain chapter, i'm at 8 atm.
I agree with anna. Make sure you guys get her magic proficiency super early in the game because you won't be able to until Chapter 18 or so.
Mi Ana es Mage Knight, cual emblema y habilidades le combienen?
I actually wouldn’t recommend inheriting Starsphere as it’s value falls of as you level. It’s better to just where the ring until a few levels in to the advanced class and use that 1500 sp on actually making the character stronger. This is different for Jean of course since he has the unique interaction with his personal but Ana can inherit the hp luck from tiki instead and augment her own personal this way. Once she gotten a few levels you can put byleth or celica on her and she is pretty spooky as either sage or high priest (which augments her luck further)
is there a way to tell where there stat grows are? because I don't actually know that. I don't really reclass them I just use what it tells me
How do you determine growth rates for stats of each character? I can’t figure out this
Best site I’ve found is Serenes Forest:
serenesforest.net/engage/classes/growth-rates/
^ that link is for class growths.
You can ignore Vander unless you really want alabaster duty which is not even good really.
Berserker Jean. Gives him crazy strength and HP growth with Starsphere, and combined with Ike's Great Aether and Reprisal+ he basically lives everything on enemy phase then kills everything on player phase. He's basically a tactical nuke
I built Jean as a Mage=>Sage, and his magic stat was sitting in the low 40's by the end of the game.
I have a question do you level them all the way to 20 or promote at level 10?
For Anna, why not Master seal her to an advanced class that has a higher defense growth, then second seal later to take advantage of her magic growth?
Dropped Clanne and Jean. I did reclass Anna into Mage and the only other reclass I did was Lapis into a Pegasus Knight->Wyvern. Best reclass imo.
I left Jean a healer. Even with tiki he got so speed screwed that when I promoted him, he still had 15 speed.
I reclassed Anna lapis into sword/axe flyers so they can be Griffith knights along side Chloe
I also wanted to make both Louis jade into great knights while making Amber a royal knight
Clanne could have been a mage knight if he didn’t die in hard mode
I also wanted to make alcrst in to a bow knight but I later changed my mind about it
I’m doing an all magic user run.
Also wrath and 60+ hp.
i also keep her to axe unit, in my case as warrior and oh boi her HP and Str is way over the sky lmao though she kinda squishy on the defense
@@Bezhodeft The hp makes her great for the vantage/wrath combo, but she takes so much damage if the foe survives. Ike is very good in giving some bulk, he gives extra bulk when damaged. And she reached 70 hp, which means she has full wrath at 40 hp.
@@Bezhodeft Speed got kinda meh, but her attack was very good in dealing with armored units also
When you say 'reclass' do you mean raise to lv 10 and then switch into a base class?
Yes they mean using 2nd seals. You can switch into advanced classes when you get there also.
I made jean a sage (paired with Soren) i made anna a high priest (pared with byleth) and for clanne i made him a axe paladin (paired with chrom/robin)
Make Lady Anna monk with tiki emblem and +10 luck from byleth and you will have 59 luck with makes her gold passive proc 59% of the time.
How do you increase magic proficiency for Anna?
1500 is also most of your SP for the entire game, and will be virtually all of it if you also snag Canter
uh.... not really, cause you'll eventually hit the experience cap.
Clann is one of the best sword masters you get but I straight up make them kill with tiki parked on a Evasion tile
Is it still good to class evolve at level 20? I see allot of people class changing at level 10 and I thought you lost out on levels if you did?
If you dont have dlc Def go with Mage than sage
Jean's personal skill specifically doubles class growths meaning since all mage classes including his starting class have at least 25 bonus growth which makes his magic growth on par with citrinne in sage. I reclassed him into sage and by the end of the game he had 39 base magic stat
