To Sizzix company. I taught kindergarten in nj. We had boxes of dies ; alphabets dies box of seasonal and holiday dies and the number dies box along with the larger dies. Our machine was an old manual. Red with the lever standing up in the middle. We would put the paper down first then die facing down. Push it to the middle and use the lever two or three times. We would manually pull it back out and we would have the shapes etc. cut out. I can’t tell you how many jack o’ lanterns and shamrocks I had cut out through the years. I have the big kick and the electric one at home. Much easier.!!!
exactly, the cutting die piece is supposed to go DOWN not facing up

I just got one of these for my wife & was glad to see that the cutting board you used picked up an image of the die that she cut.
IN THIS video the cutting die piece was not placed properly, it is supposed to go down not up, it would not damage the protecting shield that much for the first time

I've been a die-hard crafter for decades...but I've only recently taken the plunge and got myself a Sizzix Big Shot. (ditched the Cricket) I've watched close to a trillion youTubes, since I first decided I wanted one, while I waited for my first order of dies to come in the mail.
While it wasn't a surprise to me, that eventually there would be warping issues with the plates....I wasn't expecting it to happen after only EIGHT (8) cuts. (yes, I flipped, rotated etc).
So, although I was expecting this....I wasn't expecting it this soon. But...in spite of that...I'm ok with it, since many MANY youtubers, that say it isn't a big issue.
But here's my problem.
What has got me concerned is that it has warped (permanently warped) my new dies. (after one use) Is this normal ?

For someone who is completely new to the Big Shot, this tutorial is missing info. For example, do you place the die cuts up or down?.. Also, it would be great if some trouble shooting was covered.
No one has answered this question do the dies go up on down....it confusing no one really explained this in the video

My multi purpose machine stopped cutting and embossing. How can I fix it? Cutting pads roll right thru. Does this maching not emboss 110 lb paper?

I bought my Sizzix big shot in a reputable craft shop in Canada. The bottom plate only has the one with green background instructions, it doesn't open to the other pink instructions you have here. Should I email Sizzix or do I have a different model to the one in this video?

I followed your (audio) instructions to the letter and it didn't work out.
You said, "To make a Sizzix sandwich you're gonna start with the cutting pad".. but that's not correct. You HAVE to place the platform down FIRST (which you didn't explain what it was for.. I just thought it was used to show the instructions).
I watched this 3 times and I'm sure she is showing the die on top of the card stock with the cutting edge against the clear pad. This is wrong, the cutting edge should be against the card stock.

I have noticed on most videos though by all people who make these type, they don’t go down to the absolute basics. It needs to show the camera zooming right in to show the difference between the cutting edge and the smooth side of the die. For absolute beginners, this vital stage being missed out is crucial, as it leads to frustration and sometimes platforms and plates being damaged (I accidentally cut into my expensive metal intricate plate because of another video not zooming in and emphasising the importance of the order).
Experienced crafters shouldn’t assume beginners will know certain things. Not a criticism, I’m just trying to help. I actually ended up making a step by step photo tutorial with words and arrows to show exactly how to do the order close up because so many people I came across said the same; that the vital part of which away up the die goes is always skimmed over.

I just got mine yesterday. I did not get that bonus board with the instructions. My first try I sandwiched everything an the whole thing tilts and wont go through? I don't want to break it. What am I doing wrong?

Hi, I have a question for you, since you use sizzix machine ... Can we use different kinds of die cuts from different products, or do we only use sizzix?
Hi Tessa, we recommend Sizzix dies for the best quality cuts :)
But other brands will work. Of course they want you to use their name brand but otjers will work.
