- TF2 is really fun, but what if being found by a single enemy player meant you instantly* died? Some people call that playing Spy, but I personally thought it would be more fun to invent a version of hide and seek that lets you hide anywhere in a completely opened map. And surprisingly, it's a ton of fun!
*skilled hiders may be able to delay dying by mashing the space bar and running for the hills

The rules for hide and seek are straightforward: hiders (RED) have to survive for as long as they can while the seekers (BLU) try to find and kill them. Everyone plays Scout, and while you can use whatever you want for mobility, seekers are only allowed to kill the hiders with their melees. Hiders are allowed to fight back with everything but their Force-a-Natures, however seekers are given full crits and unlimited health, so it's only useful for making a quick getaway. Each person has their own personal clock that ticks up while they're alive as a hider and stops while they're a seeker. At the end of the game, everyone's times are added up and whoever has the highest is the winner. As for the maps, they've been modified to remove any doors, windows, invisible walls, or anything else that could prevent you from going wherever in the world you want. Minus spots that are obviously under the map or otherwise out of bounds, any spots hiders find are fair game.
Also, the times are getting closer! I had a pretty dominant run while the mode was brand new (at least on my channel), but people are very quickly catching up. We decided to not only distribute the maps a week early this time, but we also gave everyone ~15 minutes before each round to look around the map and find a spot.
I'm also working on fully automated versions of these maps that in addition to handling the hide and seek logic for us (like setup timers, round clocks, hint reminders, seeker crits/overheal, and now bullet immunity thanks to Brick) will also add a few new features to prevent the rounds from going on for too long. Once they're done, I'll distribute them on GameBanana for you all to mess around with. Be sure to send me your gameplay if you use them!

Update for the toads bit: apparently toads can swim, just not as well as frogs, and can still survive underwater for an above average amount of time, so odds are the toad genocide was facilitated more by the putting them in a jar than the skipping them across water. Granted they probably weren't exactly *happy* with the turn of events, but it was probably survivable.

this seems like a really fun concept for a sever build. 5 seekers on one side and 15 hiders on the other. you can probably go even further with this idea as well

Just like the circle has all the points 1 radius away from the center in 2d, the sphere is different from that by having all the points 1 radius away from the center in 3d. In higher dimensions it's the same thing happens with more dimensions getting added, so all points on the hypersphere are 1 radius away from the center in however many dimensions you're using.
so a hypersphere is a way to name spheres in higher dimension geometry? like 4d, 5d, 6d, ect. spheres would all be considered a hypersphere?
@@kalimbasax2108 A hypersphere is the generalized sphere, so a 1d, 2d, or 3d sphere is also a hypersphere. When people specifically say hypersphere in regular conversation like in this video, though, they are usually talking about higher dimensional spheres.

First, this series is a lot of fun and I'd love to see more, especially since you still seem to be thinking of new concepts and maps for it.
Second, I'd love to see some other classes be added, although you'd have to restrict a lot of items and stuff for balance.

Random idea, once the half time mark, all hiders must find a new spot in the next minute. Maybe create a proximity for all hiders that kills them a minute after half time.

you should be able to set mp_idledealmethod to 0 to stop players from being sent to spectator while idling in a hiding spot.
theres also a command to increase the time before the game detects you as idle, but I don't remember it.
My favorite part of the videos is when everyone starts talking like they're in an episode of smiling friends.

Maybe a percentage based scoring system could work? Perfect score being 100% of the rounds you were a hider, each round being 25%. It would help with the longer rounds, since the longer you survive, the less it effects everyone else's relative percentage (a 5 minute hider would get 50% on a ten minute round, 25% on a twenty minute round, and 16.6% on a thirty minute round).
Keep making more, and you could add more players for more crazy and longer games also try using the new maps like the summer maps because phenix seems like a crazy map for this
