All of that luxury plus the crew cab add a lot of weight. You don't need modern luxury to pull a heavy load, only old fashion torque and a solid truck.
Some of those guys wiped out a lot of cones and got the same penalty.. I think they should have half as many cones with a tennis ball on top of each cone. 10 sec. penalty for each ball that hits the ground. That would be less ambiguous and give a more accurate score to someone who takes out the entire side of the simulated garage (the last section).
Yeah the penalty system is a bit of a joke there, One of the fellas hit about 6 cones in the end garage and only got a 2 cone penalty, while another fella had a real clean run, hit one cone on the track, clean into the end garage and got the same 2 cone penalty... WTF?
I believe in the past years it did not penalize until the cones laid over. So if the cone is moved but doesn’t fall on it’s side it does not count against the competitor
@@jacobmccue7502 Yeah that's a bit weird, like backing the trailer into the shed hitting the sides and bending up all the tin on the walls of the shed but saying that's ok cause the shed didn't fall over... It’s probably the only way they can do it without adding minutes worth of penalties because they changed the course from the first years that DPC showed up on the motor trend channel.

Is it just me or are these trucks really not practical at anything at all? Big Smokey laggy pigs that you have to change head gaskets or converters for every event and there’s a 50/50 chance they will survive one dyno pull
Those are the bad competitors. Go watch 2014 and 2015 edition with Lavon Miller. His truck is in one piece to this day. You can watch it at his RUclips channel "Firepunk Diesel"
ttiization I’ve seen all the diesel power challenges and I do agree there are a few trucks that do everything very well and are well thought out builds. It seems the majority of the trucks are just built for big horsepower/torque and I would not even want to daily drive with gutted interiors and stacks straight out the hood let alone use for a tow rig all day
It would be interesting to see a gas powered turbo truck compete just for comparison sake. A 2500hd Silverado with a 6.0 single turbo kit and 4l80e has at least a chance at winning the trailer tow, fuel efficiency, and drag strip... obviously it won’t put down as much power on the dyno or sled pull as well but I feel it may be more reliable at 650-850 hp level.
@@zrsnopro97 but isn't this diesel power challenge not diesel reliably tow your family camper for 200k miles challenge? A bone stock truck can do that.

I would say everybody else is competing for 2nd place. Coker has this one in the bag I would say.
