  • Before/After video of replacing the stock Honda Rebel 300 muffler with a Rebel 500 one. Have the deep thump that is louder than the stock 300 but not louder than the 500. Very satisfied with the new sound. ***Wear headphones for ultimate experience ;)

they're generic saddle bags on ebay. search 'motorcycle pu saddle bags' and u will find the same. Cheers! :)

Exhausts look identical. Do you think you could gut the cat out of a 300 muffler and it’d just be a 500 equivalent? Thanks for the comparison!

I can't tell if it's really louder than the stock, is it really louder in real life?

Where'd you grab the 500 muffler from? Honestly, I'm looking for a slip on that adds a bit more volume to my 300 more so for safety reasons and the 500 sounds like something I'm looking for!

shoopSAUCE I was in the same situation. I got mine second handed from a member of a local Rebel facebook group that I belong. He was selling his 500 muffler since he had put an aftermarket free flow one on his bike. I had been looking for a long time.

How loud is it compared to stock on the highway at higher RPM?
Currently have a TBR on my 300, way too loud for highway riding.

It's louder and I'm certain never louder than any legal limits. Because I have other 800cc and 900cc bikes with aftermarket exhuasts that fall within legal limits and they're still a tiny bit louder than this rebel 500 exhaust on the 300 model.

I am looking for an exhaust that will make my 300 louder but not very much. I. E. No risk of hearing damage. How much louder did this make the bike?

coinhunter94 I guess this is what you are looking for. It is quite louder but not obnoxious. I don't like loud pipes myself. I had a 125cc bike with a debaffled exhaust and it was much louder than my rebel 300 with this mod. I had to wear earplugs. But on this 300, no need to wear. It is just perfect.
It is a lot softer than all aftermarket free flow pipes. And no crackle too.

Dimsum Racer Thanks for the reply. I guess I'm about to order a new oem cmx500 muffler.

Did you notice any power improvement?

    • @sapadapas

a little on the lower and mid range. Since the 500 muffler isn't totally free-flow, the improvement is only slight but noticeable. Good news is it's not too loud and no negative impact on the engine performance from a muffler that's too unrestricted.
