This is the reason why I watch so many Ren reactions. The ones I really love are when the reactor has a particular area of expertise, and they analyse the song/piece from their own perspective, sharing their specific insights. I love that because it allows us, the viewer, to get a fully rounded view (and to appreciate all the subtleties of Ren's brilliance which we might have missed). Great reaction. Thank you !
Yes. It is easy for a layman like myself to appreciate a one take video but this reaction impressively pointed out a lot of techniques that went into this. Makes me appreciate the art all the more.

We need a Jenny and Screech trilogy reaction. Start with Jenny's Tale, Screech's Tale, then finish it up with Violets Tale.. those will hit hard. Ren is Pure talent, what music should be.... all of his raw one take videos are crazy good. Use of his guitar as sound effect are nuts. Hopefully you react to The 3 Tales.

Money Game part 1 is really good too... it's crazy how Ren paints a clear visual of what's going on with so little.
I totally agree!!! To avoid confusion of the order of the trilogy, I suggest watching the 13min32s video on his channel titled "'Ren - The Tale of Jenny and Screech (Full)" - this has all 3 videos, in the CORRECT order!! I've seen a few reactors watch them out of order / not put them together correctly. So should definitely be watched in order, all in ONE sitting to have the full impact for sure. The one take nature of each of these tales really makes the camera work so much more impressive!

You really need to get to the Trilogy of "Jenny's tale", "Sceech's tale", and "Violet's tale". They are all done each in a single shot with amazing use of the environments in the sound design and the storytelling of the songs and the videos is phenomenal.
Dont forget to do the tale of jenny and screech (full version) by Ren. some of the best story telling out there which I'm sure you will appreciate as a film maker. it is 3 songs in one but its very much worth it!

I'm still hoping you'll do the Tale of Jenny & Screech (FULL). The cinemaphotography in that trilogy is off the charts and Ren's storytelling and guitar playing are his finest work.

Whoever is doing Ren's videos is a genius at utilising the minimum equipment to the maximum effect. It's amazing what can be done with some forward planning and a sense of what you want to achieve. I oscillate between wonder at Ren's music and the videographer's skill.

Don't know if you noticed the lighting on his face change after saying the line "Travel to the corner of my cornea and mind
Look for all the answers that I never seem to find", face in shadow to fully lit with a focus on his eyes. Very clever. Also, when reacting to his other videos look for his acting, often planned so well he's acting with his environment and his lyrics at the same time.

A unique storytelling experience that I am sure you would enjoy 👍
I would also like to pitch "The Tales of Jenny and Screech" (full 13 minute version). The cinematography is one take, on location, handheld, LIVE PERFORMANCE, and very very simple but also flipping brilliant storytelling. There are a few camera POV moments that are frankly mindbending. Perfect stripped down, raw synthesis of videographer and musician.
(Not to oversell it or anything.) 😂

Ren is up for a few awards at the Czechoslovakian music awards for his video Hi Ren. And one of the categories is for best music video made for under $3,000. I think every music award show should have that category!

Loved your insights, I left your video understanding much more about the video here than I came in with. I thought you might be interested in this: there is a 2 hour interview video (remote call) on RUclips and Ren said that he doesn't see himself doing music videos into his fifties or sixties. He said one thing he would like to try is producing an anthology series along the lines of Black Mirror or Love and Robots (Netflix). Personally, I think the man could do anything in visual or musical arts that he wants to, and do it very well.

So I kinda get to live vicariously when film makers do reaction and breakdown channels (yours and others). I'm the guy who will rewind his dvd (the wording was intentional) right after I'm done watching the movie, so I can listen to the directors commentary. My first fiancé had a signed unfilmed script for The Lost Boys 2

All 3 parts are one-takes, and talk about a masterclass in timing, videography, and utilization of scene(s)!

Mister Jonathan Hiller, you HAVE to react to his new video Animal Flow. His ENTIRE video was shot in ONE shot, and there is QUITE a lot to digest from the scene that he sets. It may not be a majestical piece of editing, filmmaking wise, but the video is pure art. There's a lot of small details in the background that you might be able to pick up on.

REN mentioned either on twitch, or an interview , I can't remember which, that his inspirations are more film makers than musicians. He mentioned Stanley Kubrick, Tim Burton, and Quentin Tarantino. I'm sure those are just a few.

It's a 3-minute song you don't have to stop at so much you people just love the sound of your own voice man.
Great reaction with respect to filmmaking aspects but it would be nice to also hear you make at least a few comments about the lyrics in the bars in the message that he’s putting out.. we expect look forward to your breakdown of cinematography, but you can’t just not say anything about the message of the video or any of the lyrics for these will get real boring!
