Another lighting detail, when he's saying, "I don't feel so well..." he's lit from above with what looks like a spotlight. He doesn't feel so well under the glare of the spotlight.

The "Illest of Our Time" video was actually filmed in the summer of 2022 in an abandoned department store in Brighton, but not released until this year (on Ren's birthday on March 29).
Looks like it was a chilly summer last year. A big change from this year huh? I would love a cooler summer.

@@LexSevenfold33 Watching Ren's video he looked dressed for cold, but someone wrote it was summer time. Well that information you wrote about it being freezing in the U.K. never made it to our weather station. I prefer weather with temps way under 80F for weeks it's been up into the 90'sF. I live in south eastern Florida in the good old crappy USA. Most of the U.S. has higher temps this summer than at any other time since. Other part of the world is also having hotter temperatures. I guess the U.K. is one exception. It is still summer here July, always hot anyway. So sorry you are having cold, and I still say I wish it was cold here sometimes. We do get cold winters but very rarely and never dangerous cold.

Surprised you didn't mention the "clockwork orange" references sprinkled throughout this video. Right down to the bats and the use of the word "hooligans" to his wardrobe choice. They aren't super obvious and direct references. Just little subtleties, you can tell he drew inspiration from that film.

This is one of my favourite Ren tracks - I’m a Prodigy fan and I love the Prodigy vibes in this one. Was interested to see what you would make of the transitions in this video - thought you’d love them.

I definitely got a mix of influences throughout this video - Clockwork Orange, Fight club are definitely two huge ones..the lighting & composition in this one really caught my eye! Sam is a majorly underrated artist imo. Always give him props when I can.
Cool break down man! My dad was a videographer and television engineer for a major T.V news network for 40 years and he saw broadcasts the way you do..i understand these lighting artistic skills because of watching TV with him..but ive never heard someone else describe it that same way...good stuff

Also 4 5 6 crucifix flashing bit dope !! The match cut is ace too ! From his nude top half to his white outfit matches the tune so well 🎉. Master class in transitions they’re all so slick 🙌🏼

Joe E, you can frame by frame on RUclips! Simply pause (I recommend Space on the keyboard to avoid messing with a mouse) and then Comma and Period advance or go back one frame at a time. You can also use K for play/pause and J and L to jump 10 seconds back or forward (helpful for jumping back a bit to avoid missing transitions).

Hey Joe E, just saw you on Black Pegasus. Now I’m here to watch you fall down the Home Free rabbit hole. The song he was mentioning is the Butts Melody remix. And of course they redid boys to men. But no song they have done has ever been bad. All great. 90 plus that I can think of but Tim Faust (the base, but he can sing tenor too)has his own too and duets with Austin (main tenor). Austin’s has his own too. You can’t go wrong. Even Rob and Austin have an opera song that will leave you shocked.

He is a rapper, a bard, a spoken word poet, a goofball, deeply emotional and has a very down do earth attitude. He also has a (some might say) rebellious view on politics (his songs Crucify Your Culture, Money Game 1 and 2) but he never disappoints. He knows his stuff and always pays hommage where it's due whenever it comes to hip-hop. Just prepare to not be prepared...ever 😂
