Those first two minutes were hilarious
Very nice and honest review! Was recommended this video on my RUclips homepage, and I’m happy the algorithm brought me to you. I’ve happily subscribed and look forward to more reviews from you. The color changing ghost in the background is a nice touch.
Welcome! Thanks for hanging out.
One of thee best reviews hands down 😂
Yes! Creepy Cowboy Scott returns!
I fear the day when he runs into the puppets…
Fantastic review, Scott. The intro was funny too. BTW, I'm planning to pick one of these as against an LED source with a softbox as I find the latter intimidating for my studio nook. Any reason to pick the C against the X purely only for interview kind of content?
Thank you. Honestly, the only reason I would consider the X over the C is if I really only had $250 to spend and not 1 cent more. The C version does everything the X does and so much more and in my opinion, just makes it more of a versatile light all around. The size difference isn’t much at all. Also, don’t think about just today. Think about tomorrow. If you buy the X because that’s all you need to day. Tomorrow you need a more powerful key light because you are in a sunny condition, will you use the X ever again? Vs. If you have the C and you replace it with a bigger key, you can use the C as a color pop anywhere later. I just think the C is a better long term investment for usability. But, that’s my opinion. You need to weigh these options for yourself and see if it matters to you. I can share information, but the decision is always yours to make. Good luck. Let me know what you decide.
@@ScottBalkum Thank you should much for the detailed response Scott. The X somewhat fits into my budget, but the C is just 70$ more here in India than the X (370 vs 300). Your advice makes perfect sense. I'll probably pick the more versatile light. Will hopefully get to try them this weekend
Funny and informative. One quick question for you Scott. I'm a new content creator shooting in a smallish space. I was hoping to wall mount my light to save space. Would these lights attach to a baby wall plate or something similar?
Funny you mention that. A Friend was just telling me I should make some videos specifically for content creators. But the answer is yes. A Baby plate mounted to the wall would absolutely work with this light. You can clamp right down onto it.
7:11 According to the product manual there is a "Freq. Selection" function in these lights. Cranking that up should resolve the flickering at high shutter rates. However, be sure to conduct some test because sometimes turning up the LED Hz lowers the max output of a light.
I just ordered the light for use with photography. I haven't recieved the lights yet but I'm hoping that if you check out these settings then you could let me how high the frequency selection goes on these lights?
Nice one Scott
they are perfect for me.
I’ve been looking at getting the Nova P300c but the P60c might be a good choice to get for that splash of colour in backgrounds. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
It is a great mini-nova.
I'm sure if you are safe with them they won't break after taking to few trips.
Yea, I carefully worded that. IF you take care of your equipment, they will last fine. If you give them to someone else who doesn’t care, they may not.
Lol
I let Red know I watch you and we have our order in for 8 V-Raptors! They’re in the que for production NOW! Out to me soon enough.
Ha, Were they like “Who?” :). Nah, they know me. Heheh - Can’t wait to see what you do with the V-Raptors.
@@ScottBalkum I told the rep when we were getting things together when then announced V-Raptor. I’ve been planning to buy monstros, but waiting on production plans for couple of years. So this worked perfect. Ordering lots of equipment then figuring what we’ll rent.
@@ScottBalkum Ordering Rotolights In next day or so too. I’m ordering more then kick starter.
@@PlanetFrosty Nice! Use the link in the video. I think they give me credit although I’m not sure. Heh.
Scott, I’m torn about ordering Chinese products , given the civil rights issue and my girlfriend tortured for two years in prison in China. She was a professor at Peking University in microprocessor design. I’m sure many companies are small not part of the corruption. Our entire production company is being outfitted with that in mind. I know others killed as well and it’s not good. And I have iP stolen worth substantial amount.
Hahaha that was awesome!! Great review!
Thanks!
loved that intro!
