    Assuming, in general, that the load/unload times are going to the be the same for a given person/cargo-size, then I don't think that really matters much to the equation. Potentially, however, the average length of time to get from a hangar to the TDD to sell could make some difference (subjectively it seems to me, for example, that the TDD at Orison is fairly easy to get to and the shuttles come on a better time schedule than, say, Lorville, for example). My guess is best-case vs. worst-case locations isn't going to add more than a minute or two to your time, though.
    The one other factor that may be a very big one, however, is fuel cost. The longer run will cost more fuel than the shorter, but if it's, say, twice as long to go the longer one then you'd also need to consider doubling the fuel cost of the shorter run.
    And finally to really work out the best runs you'd also want to consider if you're doing, say, a short run loaded followed by carrying no cargo at all vs. doing a longer run on a looped route of multiple stops but that allows you to take at least some sellable cargo between all of the stops. So IMHO there are a LOT more variable you could possibly begin to consider on your trade routes.

      I always picked orison for this reason. It's easier and faster to get from hanger to TDD and from Habs to hanger in orison than any other planet (currently)

    If you are loading and unloading the same amount of cargo, unless the landing areas are drastically different, You don't need to time loading at all. The time it takes to buy or sell the cargo is likely going to be more of a variance. Your biggest time sink is going to be travel.

      I don't think that is true. Unless I have messed up my maths, i get the following figures when using load/unload of 15 minutes.
      If you ignore the load times, you get short run of 140k in 15 minutes = 560k per hour while.the long run is 154k in 30 minutes = 310k per hour. That is an 80% profit for short runs.
      With the loading/unloading included it is 280 v 102.6. That is a 175% profit.

      @@RobinHartJones Oh no, I'm sorry if you misunderstood. On a per hour whole, you need to time everything relevant for the run. In comparing two runs, the loading and unloading time are inconsequential to finding which one is better.

    You do need to include the load/unload times to make a fair comparison. You said that was about 15 minutes for both.
    If we round things then the short run was 140k on 30 minutes and the long run was 154k in 45 minutes.
    If i have done my maths right then two long trips earns 308k in 90 minutes and you could have done 3 short trips in that time and earned 420k.
    This video was killing me because I really want a Starlancer but I bought a CCU from Terrapin to Starlancer and I cannot buy the terrapin until Anvil day which is over a week away! 😅

    I'm gonna have to try this. I just got the Starlancer MAX, and I have no idea what I'm doing with cargo. Where to buy it, where to sell it. This video helps me a lot.

      I'm told there are web sites that track prices in real time. If so, you'll want to research those and plan ahead before you log in.

    Unless my math is wrong (and I'm not a math major), the long run totalled 154,200 / 32 min = 4,819 per minute. The short run totalled 142,600 / 14 min = 10,186 per minute. That's a difference of 5,367 per minute in favor of the short run. If this is consistent across all items, then there is absolutely no reason to do long runs.

    • @RobinHartJones
      @RobinHartJones 2 дня назад +2

      Adding the load/unload times back in halves that difference but yes it is still a lot better to do the short runs.
