@@beachhum I always wonder why Lars would want to have a moustache?? I thought for a quiet, gentle guy like him he might want to go for a clean shaved look all the time
As someone who is neurodivergent I actually found myself relating to Lars quite a bit and seeing myself in him at times. When I first saw this film I saw a lot of autistic and ADHD traits in Lars and that I see in myself.
I would love to hear your thoughts on James Spaders role as Graham in “Sex, lies and videotape” I’ve seen it mentioned as an example of SPD but never really found an explenation. Plus the dynamics with the other main charecters are interesting as well in contrast to eacother. Despite the tittle of the movie the main focus seems to be on asexual oriented experiences - another topic not explained or portrayed often. Really loved the explanation about the schzoid part of Lars. There’s not a lot of well-made/videoes on the topic that goes beyond the dsm diagnosis description and offers relateble examples of the disorder. I recently got diagnosed with SPD (& ADHD 2 years ago), so I’m trying to learn more about SPD, to find information that I can share with family and friends. I really want to understand the underlying mechanisms of the disorder and psychologycal therories in genereal. Is there some of your videoes that you would recommend for that? Great channel! Happy I found it 😊 Ps. English is not my first language so beware of any gramatical errors and such.
I would not say Dr. Dagmar is an honest potrayal of a mental healthcare worker. Most stereotypes are based on truth, and the stereotype of the manipulative, all-knowing and blundering idiot kind of psychologist/psychiatrist is true to how most are like in actual practice. There are no bedside manners in mental healthcare, and the overwhelming magority of mental healthcare workers are bad people who do much more to harm their patients as opposed to actually helping them.
You sound pretty bitter bro. The reality is that nothing short of a time machine is gonna fix someone’s antisocial personality and stunted socialization, but there are ways to cope and improve
1. You sound too enthusiastic to not be biased by personal experience; 2. The movie was about Lars, not antipsychiatry; 3. The doctor was explicitly stated to be a psychologist in addition to being a family practitioner.

Drapetomania, female hysteria, clitorodectomy, lobotomy, gay conversion therapy, unethical medical experimentation, eugenics, being some of the biggest supporters of Nazis, accusing women of fantasizing/imagining sexual abuse, equating black civil rights activism with schizophrenia, psychologically and sexually abusing children themselves, designing and overseeing psychological torture…. there is only one hint in the movie that shows he has a sexual relationship with bianca. i agree that his interest centered on having a caring and dependable relationship, but when gus's wife looked at bianca (in her private parts) toward the beginning of the movie, her reaction gave me the impression that he did have sexual relations with the doll.
I interpreted it as at the end when he kissed the doll right before it "died" was to me the first time he even kissed it, he even says he wears extra layers of clothing to even hug the thing because of the pain he feels from physical contact
I normally think moustaches look silly but gosling is so handsome he makes it look cool.
It’s a gross pervy mustache even on him IMO.
he looks like a registered sex offender with that moustache

Lars is so sweet! Would love to have someone like that in my life. The way he treats that doll is so gentle and caring.
Frank Grimes Lars is so wholesome ❤️❤️❤️

Lars is literally me..
I loved this movie. When Lars has Bianca become I’ll, knowing it part of his recovery, I blubbered like a baby.

I've been waiting for someone else to say this because i saw so many of my autistic traits in lars even down to the blinking
This was an excellent look into the character's disorder. Thank you.

Thought it was a reaction to looking at a fake vagina for the first time. Not that there was any mess in it.
But maybe
Nah I'm pretty sure she was shocked to see that she actually has private parts lol
Probably very realistic💀
