Similar thing happened to me. Elementary school: kid called my base set Holo-Moltres a fake because of light scuffing on the corner from use, so he offered a trade for his Steelix because he wanted to prove it to me that it was fake. We made the trade so I could see how he could prove it, and this kid proceeds to peel off the holo-foil off the skin of the card ruining the image and making it unusable. I sat there looking at my old prized card and thought "oh well, he doesnt have a Moltres or a Steelix now."
My issue is that I did not think that maybe he was just a dumb kid, and I had the cool card for once.

One time this kid tricked me into giving him my dual type volcanion EX for a Glaceon. Worst trade ever.
You think that's bad, when I was a dumb kid I traded a base set mewtwo with a factory mistake (the back of the card was upside down) for a turtwig, just cause I really liked turtwig
Okay, I have to tell this story now. So, when the first Pokemon movie came out, Burger King produced a SHIT-TON of toys for it. Like no joke there was like 60 of these things, and my local BK would host Pokemon trading events every Tuesday. So I'd haul my Phantom Menace suitcase full of Pokemon BK toys over there so I could wheel and deal, and this kid wanted something really rare, and was willing to give me a fairly new copy of Pokemon Red. I really wanted Red, so I gave him three Burger King Pokemon toys for a Pokemon Red. And when my mom saw the deal I had made, she got me out of there immediately before takesies-backsies could happen (probably because otherwise she would've had to buy it for me herself).
And that's the story of how I got my first Pokemon game.

In reference to the trading card story at the start, I had a similar experience, I think I was like 6-7 at the time. Some kid at one of the card conventions at my local book store wanted to trade his Charizard for my Nidoran................ He had some weird obsession with Nidorans and just wanted as many as he could get. So he offered his CHARIZARD for my Nidoran......
I used to collect Pokémon cards all the time when I was a kid. I was the nerd who memorized every type, so I had a page of my binder for each type. I still have those binders full of cards put away somewhere. Fun memories

I will argue that the 3D models haven't been all bad. They've made some Pokemon a lot more appealing to me. Case in point: New Pokemon Snap. 3D Pokemon have never looked better... or been so adorable.

He reason that there isn’t an Eeveelution of every type is because the types used to make Eeveelutions are considered to be special attackers. I think they should’ve added a dragon Eeveelution in Sword in Sheild because it’s based off England.
Don't know if anybody answered your eevee-lution question in the stream, but so far they have only been types that used the special stat in generations 1-3, before the physical/special split.

same card "trade" was done to my younger sister when she was in the 2nd grade
I(5th grade) started to collect yugioh cards and had about 20.
a kid at my sister's school said they would trade their rare cards for a few cards
my sister took my cards to her school and the kid convinced her that all my cards were such low value that all 20 would be the same value as their 1 rare card.
the "rare" card ended up being a trap card that I already had a copy of(it wasn't my original one since she had drawn on most of my cards and this one card didn't have any markings on it)
