This is a simple tutorial and guide to help beginner Minecraft players successfully create a shelter, tools and basically, survive your first day.
NOTE: This is an older, outdated Alpha version of the game. While some of the tips are universal, other tips are exclusive to previous versions. NEW and UPDATED content can be found on the channel (as of 2018).

1) You grab wood
2) You craft shanks and sticks
3) You craft a crafting table
4) You craft a wooden pickaxe (the only wood tool you'll ever going to need)
5) You look for coal, and stone and mine them.
6) You build a stone pickaxe, sword, and shovel
7) You find iron and craft a furnace
8) You smelt iron, and look for more iron for armor
9) You smelt more iron, craft an iron helmet, boots, leggings, and chest plate
You do not need any other wooden tool than the original pickaxe, that is wasting wood, you don't need more iron pickaxes than you need to mine gold and diamond, those resources are finite and needs to be reserved (unless you grow trees well).

On my first night in trial mode I just walked around, explored and started digging some tunnels for resources. Then the night came. I found some torches and basic tools. So I walked around and then I heard this weird breathing noises around me, and it freaked me out considering I thought I was alone. I looked in the distance and saw some glowing white eyes looking around, and it was a representation of the Slenderman. So I just 'noped' my way out of the game. I then researched other characters and found out that there are enemies. So I thought about it, found out that they can't reach me in deep water and built my first house in the middle of a lake. Had no idea about crafting so I built it out of dirt and dub with bare hands. Then I ran out of torches and the trial was over. I think I'll buy this game.

The first Minecraft video I ever watched, after hearing about it at school. I still remember my first night, hiding inside a hill, watching the moon rise and fall. Powerful nostalgia...
This game had had been the king for over 7 years. No other game has done this ever. The days when i opened my laptop at 12 pm at night have suddendly passed so quickly and we wish this game comes back for the crown. All these videos wake up gaming memories that any other game cant.

@@nickh6674 its a creative sandbox game with PvE and PvP elements. Not every game has to be pvp and action packed. This is a single/multiplayer game. There are hundreds of servers with minigames and thousands of modpacks that bring things like guns, planes, and even pokemon into the game. I suggest you try it out. Minecraft is one of the most amazing games you havent played. Also, the fortnite community is cancer

Thank you man. I was at a LAN party with my friends. We decided to play minecraft. Since i had never played it before i was completely useless. Now I can at least build some torchs and picks for my friends so they can do more important stuff XD.

I love games and have been gaming, mostly console games since atari 2600 came out in 1977. Looking forward to building and immersing myself in the game.

Setnakhte Amun Re my first few times playing, i didnt have a crafting table, (cuz i ddidnt no how to craft, etc) i just wandered around and then at night i just flipping dug an underground tunnel and then i would keeep playing continuisly and slowly, but surely i starved to death also when found a viilllage i would just go there and punch the villagers, yeah i was bad at minecraft back then... :P

James A For this to be really fun, you need to go back in time to say 1979 or before, when a 250 MB hard drive, (that's not a typo), cost around $260.00. If you had a Radio Shack TRS80 without the hard drive, the graphics would be just as breath taking but only available in mono white, green or maybe orange. You'd need to buy additional memory in the form of little black memory chips. Sixty-four "K" of memory would put yo back $600.00. A box of ten, five inch floppies to store your program on was about $45.00. One disk held about 740K of memory. A Siemens five inch disk drive with its own case and built on power supply was $600.00. I'm not making these prices up. I've seen Mine Craft and all the Toys it's spawned and I'm left speechless. In this day of smart phones and Nvidia graphics cards which can be about a thousand dollars for mind blowing effects, someone in the industry has created the best goof in the industry!
