2:07 If you don't yet have any food, you can put half of the iron in the other furnace
3:52 After the caves & cliffs update, the best height for mining is -54 (I've also heard that -59 is good but I'm not sure which one is better, in my experience the results are similar)
5:25 I personally like to wait until I get enough xp for 30 levels and only then enchant, it might take a while but it's worth it for the long run
5:50 When lighting up caves, put the torches on one side only (could be left or right, it's up to you) to not lose your way, so you know exactly how to navigate in these caves
7:53 You can also enchant books to add specific enchantments using the anvil, you in case you don't get the enchantments you want, you can both save them for later, and probably get better enchanted gear, although that could require more levels.
8:42 If you build the nether portal inside your base, build a special room for it and lock either the room or the portal itself (gates would do the work just fine) because mobs can pass through
10:25 You can also mix barrels into the floor (idealy made of wood for a nicer look) to get even more storage space at the cost of 0% from your base, plus it adds texture and can sometimes improve the build, and even if not, it might be worth it.
10:40 Before you go into the mine, you can rename the pickaxes so you'll never get confused between the one with fortune, and the one with silk touch.
11:43 While mining, in case you found a mineshaft, get the rails to not sail away on a boat on the ground forever, but if not, I'm sorry. I truly am sorry.
Just to clarify: Absolutely no hate to Mumbo, this video is almost 5 years old, and Minecraft has changed (for good IMO) so these are just some updates (:

At -59 you get the best diamond-deep slate ratio, at -56 you can find deep slate caves, and at -54 you’d an find ancient cities

Some extra additions: you can choose not to spend any diamonds on any equipment, IF you are lucky enough to have found a village nearby. Simply train up a blacksmith, weapon smith or armourer up to max level using the resources you have (a farmer and fisherman can come in handy to obtain emeralds so you have resources to trade with, but sometimes they also accept coal or iron to trade for). Then purchase all armor, tools and diamond swords you need from the villagers. You can even unenchant them using the grindstone the weaponsmith uses.
Saving your diamonds this way means you will practically always have more than enough diamonds to go around, especially if you are able to find a mending villager as well (although I personally would recommend to get an armourer or blacksmith before getting a librarian).

When exploring caves: Put all of your torches on the right wall. When you walk back, as long as you keep all of the torches to the left of you, you'll find the way out.
I've been doing this for years, I used to get terribly lost and then loose my base and give up, I once lost my base so badly I couldn't even find it after I broke down and finally switched to creative to fly around. This was years ago tho when I didn't know about cords lol. Amazing tip, can't recommend it enough
i just always place torches on the walls in front of me instead of the sides, so to find my way back i just follow where the torches are pointing
i do it the other way around so the right torches are the right way to go
Now this is a pro-gamer move

dependant on how far away the closest village is, it would take i'd say a bit over 16 rails.
@@spacejunkgalaxy my point was to make them understand how finding a mineshaft and punching like 20 rails is much more harder/time consuming compared to just getting sticks and some iron. And if iron is something you have a hard time getting, then you sgouldn't worry about rails

Funnily enough, my start was WAAAY different, obviously there's the startup tools and all but I usually just chuck a small signifier of a place where all my items will be, type the coordinates in chat, get some essentials like stone tools and food for one trip, and get to exploring, I just started a minecraft world (literally today) and I have a full set of iron armor, a diamond pick, full set of iron tools, a fast as hell horse with iron horse armor and tons of resources and food from looting villages, with over a stack of emeralds without going into a single cave.
The trick is getting a bed asap, keeping it in your inventory and just sleeping the night away when it's about to get dark even if you don't really have a house. This way, even if you have practically no armor you don't need to worry about mobs. And then you get a boat and see where the river takes you, oceans are your friend, you look for shipwrecks and/or desert pyramids looking for loot and more importantly, a saddle. It shouldn't be too hard to find a relatively fast horse, you can abandon your horse if you find a faster one anyway. Then you just look for any and all generated buildings, especially villagers, harvest melons, pumpkins and sugar canes you find along the way. Pillage and scam every village you come across, kill their iron golem if you know how to.
Right now I have all the things I stated in the first paragraph along with nether access (thanks broken portals), resources to start a sugar cane farm, pumpkin farm, melon farm and the villagers needed for a villager breeder. A bunch of bread and hay to feed me and my horse. An enchanting table (thanks again broken portals), a bunch of paper. Also I may not have the bookcases needed for proper enchantments but I do have a golden hoe with silk touch (thanks again again broken portals) so whenever I do find a village with bookcases I can just straight up get them without them breaking up into books.
I will say, this is a very luck based starting strategy but if you feel lucky and do actually get lucky, this can happen, and if you aren't lucky, well you just got a bunch of exploring done and now know what locations are where. If you are really REALLY unlucky and you didn't see a single thing, I mean... You JUST created this world, nothing is on it, you can just delete it and hope for a better generation for your seccond attempt at a beginning.

Ah yes, i usually would recommend to kill all sheep no matter what color the wool is and get flowers and dye the wool. It works for me!

Tip for transporting villagers: palace water in front of the boat and when you’re about to go over the water source pick it up so you can place it again and repeat. If you need to go up a block put the water on the block you want to go up

To transport villagers you can also place water on top of a hill so a waterfall will form, and then travel upstream carefully with the boat. That's much easier and cheaper than using pistons.
GRINDSTONE is so helpful for enchanting early game. Enchant with any level 3 enchant, if it isn't what you want just grindstone it.

I still do everything out of order, lol. I end up making a farm and setting up the basic framework of my main base before I even get an enchanting table, and I waste diamonds left and right making tools instead of an enchanting table because I get hung up on not having all the bookshelves for the good enchantments. I even have a mob farm set up before that enchanting table.
This is nostalgic i watched this when I was a kid
Pro Tip: Everytime you're mining, place ALL torches on the right side. so you never can get lost in complex mines or caves because you just have to follow the routes where torches are left
I just make all torches point the way I came, then I can just follow them to get back out.
I just remember the coordinates of the cave entrance and same for the nether

And if there's a intersection in the cave, treat each turn as if it's a new cave and place torches on the right.

well you can even have full netherite but still be short on iron because either you have to cave for a long time or you need to have an iron farm, and most people just loot structures for diamonds

Yeah, it saves the pointless tree punching when you get an axe, pointless wooden pickaxe idiocy if you get one in chest and the food means =you don't have to kill as many animals for food = can make farms easier. It doesn't save much time honestly but definitely makes the start less mundane/annoying.

I've been playing Minecraft for quite a while now and this video has still absolutely melted my brain
To potentially make matters worse, up until I found this channel, I had never even heard of the concept of automatic farms
Also when making a new world: I find it handy when constructing a mine to take a bunch of sticks with the crafting table to make a bunch of Stone picks. Lower durability, but they save the durability of the Iron one
True. I used the stone pickaxe way too long when I played Minecraft while Mumbo Jumbo just skips the stone tools (except 1 stone pickaxe) and goes straight for full iron tools and has a diamond pickaxe after 3 days and full enchanted diamond gear after a few hours.
Is it just me or is starting a new minecraft survival world the best feeling in the world?

Mumbo! You have been my dream. I have been working in creative for years, and scared of survival mode. I have searched for starter tutorials but none that explains this detail. PS, if you have never played, you do not know you need to cut down trees and with what, you don't know about dirt or why, you don't know anything and end up killed so many times you quite, as I have 100s of times. This time I am going to make a real effort. I understand more now and what I should do on the first week or so. I will let you know if your video got me through at least my first night because I know I won't have a bed so fast, but I will try.

I would follow them only on an SMP, because an SMP is more about having fun. A Singleplayer world is only about gathering resources.
That's how most games define success. When you beat a game you don't have to play anymore. Obviously you can't actually beat Minecraft but playing until you don't need to play is about as close as you can get
When you hire someone hire a lazy person they will find the most efficient way to do a job. then hire a skilled master to make it the most effective.

me: *starts a new world and even sets up a whole strip mining tunnel for diamonds and then gets mad because it’s not pretty and i realize that i ran far from world spawn and my friend can’t join me because i don’t want cheats on to teleport her to me and now i don’t even have a house or food so i look up house tutorials on youtube and start an amazing house and get the dimensions wrong by one block then get mad and delete the world* ah what a disaster

Tip: after crafting a stone picaxe you can use the old wooden one for fuel. And for the extra doors there also good for fuel :)

When you start a world I’d recommend getting 64 iron. 9 for tools, 24 for armor (33 total), and 31 for an anvil (64 total)

The anvil isnt really necessary at this stage. Keep the 31 iron for extra tools.
I always save like five iron for shields ( just my opinion)

-Rage quit
No need to rage quit if you only lost a few seconds of time.

@@ahmedismail3917 idk, it seems to happen mainly because of lag, so if you haven't done it already optifine should help, or turning down some video settings. i was never able to fix it on my computer, but then again, it was pretty old and slow, so you should probably have better luck doing these. increasing the memory for minecraft can also help with this problem.
