I know you already saw the video, but 11:26, this is what I was talking about with how the fire alarms are tied into the elevators in some buildings. The elevator recalled when the smoke detector was activated. It really is a nice safety feature, and I was shocked when you told a technician told you the fire alarms have nothing to do with the elevators. Looks like an old Faraday or Simplex horn in this video.
Thyssenkrupp did an Awesome job! It has a distinctive door motion sound (door motor sound). Sounds awesome.

GREAT VIDEO! I'm always telling my father to drive by the Globe court garage w/ the traditional dover glass elevator to see if it is eventually getting modernized.
This just hurts to watch. Even in 2020, it still hurts to see this elevator gotten modernized.
I have always wanted to see them perform a test with the weights. This was a awesome video.
Although the US elevator will be missed, I think ThyssenKrupp did a really nice job on this modernization! Probably my favorite part of the mod was how they made use of the old US lantern, and integrated their own features with it (the chime, the white lights, etc).

+NewEnglandElevators I wonder exactly how they did that. While they could have just replaced the bulbs with LED's and added the electronic chime, they could have also completely replaced the guts of the lantern and just kept the face plate. Something to think about, haha.

Good mod job, love how they integrated the new chime and lantern module into the US frame but they probably could’ve done better with the cab

+DieselDucy Defiantly. Really glad TK handled this one. As of almost all their mods, they did an awesome job on this one. It would really be a shame to see this thing modded with HT or have some third party brand do the mod.
+msj191961 i know a lot of TK elevators in my local area that, who I personally know the owner of, complain how much time and money they need to invest into their one TK elevator because of how often it breaks down. Wish it was Otis.
+Steven Kokko Hmm, I guess I really haven't talked to building owners, but I have personally experienced new TK installations and modernizations that have been incredibly nice. Otis is alright, but in my opinion, their elevators are just too generic sometimes. I mainly like TK because I love Dovers, and TK is Dover now, and I think they've kept making really nice elevators. It's just personal opinion I guess.

That fire alarm going off was a simplex 2901-9840 or a 9838. And that's a nice elevator!
Thyssenkrupp did a great job with the US elevator, like put in a new floor, and cleaned the dirty glass, and kept the buttons cleaned from germs

Compared to what your typical modernization in Australia ends up looking like (often mods by the likes of Schindler), these guys did a really great job.

+DieselDucy My high school is 6 floors and the passenger elevator (used to be a 30s otis modded with CJ Anderson and Generic) goes 200 ft/min. The problem is that each floor is 16 ft apart from each other and it takes five seconds to clear each level. Still faster than running down the stairs. One of the security guards there says it goes the speed of molasses and whats even more stupid is it's traction! Do you think ThyssenKrupp should come to my school during the summer and make the speed 500 ft/min or not?

ThyssenKrupp did a amazing job with this elevator. Good thing they kept the directional lantern and interlock. MAD BS fixtures are nice for this elevator. It could've been worse with Innovation (especially Bruiser).
Actually those aren't MAD BS; they're the current style TK vandal resistant fixtures which came out in 2009.
I THOUGHT THIS WAS MADE IN 2016!! TIME FLIES.

Curious what that horizonal beam is attached to the piston below the car? All the elevators that are glass enclosed in my area were installed in the 1990s or earlier, at least those I know of. Is this part a new code requirement?

why did they weight test it if it only was a refurb ?was it due a test ?or did they replace the rupture valve on the ram ?
Although ThyssenKrupp did a fantastic job with this modernization, I don't understand the rational behind modernizing a perfectly well functioning elevator. I am glad you got a bunch of the fixtures Andrew!
Sometimes an elevator can run rough or is problematic or not smooth then in that case you modernise

True, but in all of *****'s videos this elevator appeared to run perfectly well (besides the times it was low on hydraulic fluid, meaning there was a lack of maintenance at times, not that the elevator was at times problematic). To the best of my knowledge this was one of the smoothest running US elevators. Of coarse there could have very easily been mechanical issues unseen, or that surfaced only recently, but if so I am unaware of them.
