I made an error in the video! DS Bowser's Castle was not made by the CTGP-7 team. The track was made by TheZoroark007. (It was just a port made back in 2015). There is a much newer version of DS Bowser's Castle but I couldn't find that for this video. Sorry about that!

I'm not really a fan of the course palette on MK8 for the DS recreation. It just looks a lot more appealing with the rainbow lines. That's just my opinion though. The recreations were nice to see.
Personally for me, the recreation of DS Rainbow Road feels and looked quite authentic enough to the Mario Kart 8 style, but the hexagonal pattern really gives it that chef's kiss. In all hindsight, it woulda been a better retro Rainbow Road choice for the game than the neutered 1-lap N64 track, not that that wasn't any fun.

The common theme with all these ports is that the remade versions are scaled like 1.5 times too big
That’s to adjust to modern speed changes I think
It's necessary from Wii onwards due to there being 12 racers on the track at once vs 8 in DS
@@dmavsixndmal1289 Well the actual shroom ridge for mk8 is much smaller than the modded track.
Except for the Mario Kart PC ones. Those are 10 times shorter feeling.

I'm still holding out hope that we one day get an ultimate mario kart experience. One with all the series tracks, characters, karts, so on and so forth.
A Mario Kart game that will get more dlc and added in content, kinda like Tour. I could see nintendo going the "live service" route. (Not the limited time stuff, but content like in Ultimate.)
There was a rumor that Mario Kart 9 will be the “smash ultimate” of the kart series.
And one where you can make your own tracks and put them online

Well... They just took Mario Kart Wii's Delfino Square's Remake and ported it to Double Dash. It's a hard work tho, but still they already had the track's 3D model created by Nintendo

@@pacifistichuman82649 Not so memorable tracks, some stupid characters were in and famous ones were left out, and (my opinion) the soundtrack isn't so good
i like the choice on its own (spaceship is p cool) but i hope MK9 RR goes back to an actual rainbow road
As a rom hacker/iso modder, this is awesome to see! Most of the tracks were recreated really smoothly. Although I have my complaints about the tracks recreated in Super Mario Kart’s style, I know that hacking the actual game can be a real chore lol. And although DS Rainbow Road’s recreation is stylistically off putting, it still looks pretty dang cool in MK8. Really cool video!
Man a lot of these tracks look and fit so well it feels like they could've made it into the actual game.

That Waluigi Pinball one looks like something that would actually be in 8! It's sad that it's not there, though (my favorite DS track is actually Airship Fortress, but Waluigi Pinball is up there)

Delfino square looks CHONK, but the part with the bridge gives off nostalgic PS2-Gamecube era vibes with the large flat spaces

Loved the ds rainbow road remake, it feels very official, however in terms of constructive criticism I think the first spiral should have anti gravity and less bumos in the tack would have made it feel more official
The first spiral does have antigravity, however the -booth- boost panels are still there. As for the bumps in the track, this was made in the early days of Mario kart 8 -morning- modding.

Honestly hope DS Rainbow Road is added into the booster pass. One of my favorite rainbow roads of all time.

Oh, wow. The hexagon patterns on the rainbow road look boring as a still image but they look REALLY cool with the vehicle in-motion. While I think I still prefer the standard rainbow road coloration, I would kinda like it if Nintendo got more experimental with their rainbow road track textures.

First of all you put the anti-gravity section in Waluigi pinball exactly how I pictured it. Then you put a glider ramp in Shroom ridge practically where it is in 8 Deluxe. That’s awesome

You somehow made Shroom Ridge look better in Mario Kart 8 using the original textures than Nintendo did for the DLC pack
I disagree. It looks much better in the DLC, and the mod looks like it was directly ported from Mario Kart DS besides the trucks and cars.
Mario Kart DS is a game I hold near and dear to my heart this still to this day is one of my favorite games but sadly I lost my cartridge of the game still haven't forgotten about it.
Pretty cool how shroom ridge and walugi pinball actually made it into the DLC of MK8 Deluxe (and Walugi pinball looks SUPER similar to how the official DLC version looks!)

Mario Kart DS is my favorite Mario Kart game so this was really fun to watch!
I have a very old Super Mario Kart SNES ROMhack called Super Mix Kart with many levels from other Mario Kart games, like Royal Raceway, Wario Stadium 64, Sky Garden, Peach Gardens and even Waluigi Pinball.

Waluigui pinball in mario kart 8 looks like the mario kart tour waluigui pinball
because it is a straight port from MKT to MK8
As far as I am aware, MKDS’s Rainbow Road is the ONLY track in the series with a full on shuttle loop like that. Even with MK8’s anti-grav mechanics, no courses have any sort of coaster loops. Except for maybe the water park, but that loop is so damn huge you don’t even realize it’s a loop until you look at it from the outside a bit.

wario stadium feels really good in mk64, a lot of the other tracks feel out of place in other games
GCN Delfino Square feels like you're constantly under the effect of the lighting bolt
I honestly thought some of these tracks worked well in WII, I'm not sure what it is exactly but something just fitted well with it.

I won't deny that it looks kinda bad, but the creators are real people with lives, they had to design the engine from the ground up, they can't really focus on making it look good.

Rainbow Road looks really cool, biggest issue with it though would have to be the design of it. As in, the track looks really dull and the colors don’t pop out like they do in the original

For the booster course DLC I REALLY hope we get Luigis mansion, Waluigi Pinball, DS rainbow road, and a few others from other games. But those DS ones are the ones I hope to see the most.
