The definition of cool. He’s tried and true, true blue, been there, lived it, loved it. And he preaches it. Pure, solid, heavy and true. Ray is the man.
Wylie Lama is all Texas; he may have born in OK, but he's Texas music. Even with two Brits in this video, Ian McLagan (Faces, Small Faces) at 2:10 and Richard Starkey (well, you know) at 3:07, all Texas. If I'm wrong on the identities, someone please let me know, 'cause for now I'm sticking with that story.
What's "South of the River" mean? If you asked that question, you wont understand the answer.... I've come to enjoy the story teller as much as the music! Together they are a rocket ship to a time past in Texas. A time i dearly miss and i fear will never return again. Ray you keep writing what you want, let momma keep selling it and we'll keep buying it.
Ray wrote "do a youtube thing. as an example i did my "corocidin bottle" and "south of the river" videos for a price of 9 bucks for the monkey and 2 dollars for the double a batteries. hang on, i'm gonna go see how many views they got. "corocodin bottle" ... 13,262 views ... well 13,263 since i watched it again. "south of the river" 12, 816. so there you go ... bunch of people saw 'em. i don't know if any of the people who saw them bought the cd or even dlownloaded it but that's not why i did 'em." From "a life ... well, lived. So I came here to see how many had watched this 5+ years later and to jump on the pile. My suggestion, buy the damn cd and especially the book; but most of all go see him live if we ever get that chance again.
One of the top songs ever written or performed. True soul of rock!
