One thing I noticed when Andy is teaching players hit the ball better straight away. Iv watched top ten coaches teach and that definitely not always the case.
@@tomt.2385 it’s not really a method. It’s an explanation of club and ball interaction and how the body parts move and how different pieces correlate to the face/path relationship.
What a great share, thanks Chris. Such an insightful lesson. Very interesting that Andy clearly wanted to avoid "face closed to path" and preferred face closed or face to shaft (for over draw / pull draw) Curious about the 3 0 thing he brought up
Because the shaft is a fixed reference point. The 3 0 thing is about arm positions. Theres a tracking/classification system for various body parts. There would have been an indoor training segment prior to this practical demonstration.
Did you notice how weak his left hand was at address 8:14? With the ball up in the stance and a weak left hand, the draw he was removing was done well before he stepped up to the ball. With a chip/pitch, that ball was going dead straight and it would be a pull-fade if his swing was longer. I know the FSK doesn't offer it, but what was your swing direction on trackman?
I struggle with a hook that starts farr right of my target. I try to hold off my hands but it often just ends up in a push fade, if not a standard fade. Is there another way to describe the feeling of holding off (like the glove at the follow through) to help prevent the bad push and eventual hook, without it moving right? Great video btw, love this type of insight!
I appreciate you sharing this stuff it’s interesting. Luckily I hit the ball relatively straight and enjoy the game immensely. I thank god I don’t have to go through all this stuff. 8 hcp. That’s good enough for me.
So, if you naturally bow your wrist at the top like Collin Morikawa, should you start with a weaker grip? Sounds like he is saying strong grips should keep the cup and not bow it.
Cool video Trottie. Do you have any suggested apps for filming your swings. I've tried a bunch but haven't landed on any I like for one reason or another. Thanks...
3 is the just position of the left arm fully abducting and 0 is the right arm fully adducting across the chest in the through swing. Left arm in position 1 would be perpendicular to chest and position 2 would be 45 degrees. Just reference points.
Ditto. All I could think about was thank frig I can hit a 7 iron 175 straight and not have to think about any of that stuff. It sounds like water boarding.
He’s giving a lesson to a professional in front of other professionals. There is a ton of good info for amateurs and stack and tilt, but this isn’t the purpose here.
So this is a disconnect with golf instruction today in my opinion . No offense this is what I grew up with, with Chubbs on the driving range. Does the advent of trackman and data make this obsolete. You have access to all these venues of data, does one resonate more than the other. Or are we just evolving, to where feels are being tracked with empirical data. Cheers
To be clear you did NOT grow up with SnT if you're making these comments. That said, your point about a launch monitor is naive quite frankly. A launch monitor only provides data of face and path at impact. Andy points out that the face to shaft relationship is omni present throughout the whole swing. And as such he can predict what the numbers will be at impact via video with an amazing amount of accuracy
You don’t return to address positions. Sometimes issues have to be fixed with in-swing mechanics and you have to fix the torques a player is imparting into the club dynamically.
Sorry Trottie but that was an awful lesson. A lot of nonsense in most of that. His demonstration was classic when he said , “see how there’s no draw spin .”That’s because I chipped the shot with no speed whatsoever , less speed less spin . That ball would never curve when you literally flick a chip shot . In my opinion most of it was irrelevant and would not improve your scores out on the course .

Yes! Andy is awesome!
Nice one! Been to stack and tilt network training for the past 4 years, I recommend it
Wow amazing- such a great coach
This is great.
Great content mate u deserve more subscribers
I am impressed that Andy was able to recommend one technique of stack and tilt to help Trottie who does not use this method.
That’s the beauty of having a system. 🤛
That’s the point of the whole system.

Great lesson and great baggy pants! What is the brand and model you are wearing sir? Thanks for sharing
adidas. Those bad boys are my favorite

Yes typically you see bowers with a weaker grip

I got hooked up with OnForm, gotta be honest I like it and it's good for voice over and sending swings to your coach remotely
Didn't understand the 3 to 0 comment, can you comment on that please?

As the player reaches a high level the details must match. He hit the ball better. Great lesson.
He spent a really long time explaining how it draws created by a closed club face, which is really a one sentence statement
But it needs to be reiterated over and over again because other things are often deeply ingrained consciously or subconsciously.
Yes gets the message clear to the student. He kept the big thing the big thing.

Why would you not want to track a feel with empirical data? You have to have a baseline for what’s real to have anything to compare feels to.

Maybe open the face at address and your normal swing to fix your issue trottie?

Just because you flick a chip does not mean there is not a spin axis. And you be surprised how much you can curve 20-40 pitch
lol. bad take
He hit full shots at the end with no pull though.
