RUclips comments against the BBC are really boring, this was an interesting story and nicely explained bit of tech, we need more straight tech stories and the BBC has the history that is well worth plundering.

As an American, the idea of any broadcast organization (especially a public one) would spend time and money to engineer their own microphone, is fascinating to me. The result of the effort is even more impressive. Are there any more stories like this hiding in BBC Engineering history? I'd love to hear them. 👍️
The BBC also designed their own mixing desks, several versions including the classic DK4/19 which had assignable faders (quite a feat for analog technology).
There was one guy in the factory who could roll the ribbons. It required a certain knack. If he was sick or on holiday, the BBC got no microphones. In the test department I had one of those mics in the cupboard. We moved the section and when I went back to clear it the microphone and the ribbon rolling jig has disappeared.
Fairly certain that high cost of the USA made RCA model was from import tariffs and duties. Even well after this, getting American made musical instruments was expensive in the UK, unless they skirted the tariff by sending the instrument over disassembled since it was cheaper to ship musical instrument “parts”.
Showing the dislikes for some but not for others and only showing a small percentage of the dislikes to those that can see them is quite dishonest and deceitful, why would RUclips do that if there was nothing to hide and who instructed them to do this, forgive me for being cynical, but this kind of practice only makes me distrust what is coming from the mainstream media even more, either you should show all the dislikes or not show any at all, same with the comments, don't use fake accounts and bot to make comments that support your narrative while deleting comments and accounts of thousands of others because what they say doesn't fit your narrative, and it is so obvious that bot and fake accounts are being used, as it's always the same ones that appear to shut you down when you make a comment that goes against the mainstream narrative and goes through the comments sections replying to every other comment that goes again the mainstream narrative, usually with the same rehashed comments and retorts. And most by now know (as the information and evidence is extensively available to the general public) by now that these are not just bot and troll accounts but bot and troll accounts belonging to the likes of GCHQ (the governments communication headquarters) and british armed forces 77th brigade and 13 signal regiment as well as SAGE group (the “scientific” advisory group for “emergencies”) which provides governments and mainstream media outlets with advice about different techniques and methods that they should use to influence the thoughts and behaviour of the general public. I think it's safe to say that most would agree that in so-called democracy, this level of interference, engagement and censorship of the general public by goverment agencies should should not be taking place at all and amounts to nothing short of psychological warfare.

I just bought her vinyl for 99p from a charity shop. I am going on 29 myself.
I had no idea that she had this radio career! Probably not many Americans do. We know her from her hit songs in the 1960s.
