Charice was about 17-18 years old here when she went on tour with David Foster. I read an article about David knowing that even at that time, Charice was already struggling with her identity and that it was painful to watch.
When I hear Mori now, I think she's the best of our singers today but then I when I watch Charice at the peak of her career, she's incomparable. That's a voice honed by years of competing since she was a kid.
The poor soul lost her mind ; truly tragic that she didn't receive the proper, timely mental health treatment her condition so desperately warranted. 😞

The verse is based on the second movement (Adagio sostenuto) of Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Opus 18.
The chorus was taken from the song "Let's Pretend", which Carmen wrote and recorded with the Raspberries in 1972.

It breaks my heart to see the absolute talent, the total gift that was thrown away over trauma and confusion. Her talent was that of a Whitney Houston. Especially when one considers the vocal control, character, shading and, power coming from that tiny, diminutive body. OH. What if?
