Fatalis may canonically be the strongest of the Black Dragons, but the atmosphere of his fights never really went past "really scary and angry dragon". Dire's music and environment REALLY make you feel like you're facing the end of the world.
Never made sense for it to be the strongest. We have Alatreon, a monster that is basically the avatar, this bad boy who's massive and may have the best fire abilities due to being able to throw freaking meteor's, plus there's white fatalis who is unquestionably stronger than normal fatalis.
@@AxisChurchDevotee While I should've been more specific, I was referring to Fatalis as a species there - White is undoubtedly the most powerful monster in MH canon, but they seem to be sticking with Black outclassing all non-Fatalis Black Dragons in threat level, probably just as much to do with its sheer aggression as its power (Alatreon is a natural disaster on wings, but it seems to prefer minding its own business).
@@splitjawjanitor5369 I think Alatreon and Dire are both classed as black dragons. Power wise they are definitely on fatalis's level as it wouldn't make sense for them not to. In Alatreon's case, it makes sense it is not seen as dangerous since it wants to be left alone. Dire though, it definitely is a walking apocalypse that needs to be put down ASAP and is probably worse than Fatalis as it's sheer existence is a threat due to boiling entire oceans.
Yeah I feel like Zorah Magdaros is one of the monsters in Monster Hunter who has ALOT of Potential to be a badass monster like dire Miralis , Zorahs kinda underrated , but I wish he makes a very big return

You know what gives me chills every time I fight this monster? The fact that 0:50 plays every time the cutscene ends and you see the meteors fall all around you. It’s routine for me to NEVER skip this one monster’s cutscene.
The perfect way they signified this was the intro showing the penultimate destroyer of worlds, a creator of land and annihilator of life trying to intimidate you with a show of power.... Then you, a brave, foolish, noble Hunter, who has bested mountain sized beasts and other Demi-gods, charge right into the fray against this raging lord of monsters. Absolutely amazing in every way.

I recently replayed MH3U (3DS) and when I went to fight him, he was easier than when I was a greenhorn hunter many years ago, but still a very enjoyable hunt. Go back to 2013, it would take me all the time I had, two faints, barrel bombs, armorskin/demondrugs and countless potions. now it takes me just over 25mins with barely any health loss and without the items I said. I seriously hope they find a way to bring it back, Tainted Sea is one of my favourite maps and Dire Miralis is one of my favourite Elder Dragons (along with Ceadeus, Dalamadur and Nakarkos)

Picture this A camera pans to view the ocean horizon, the sea red with blood and the sky almost completely covered with dark black smoke The sands of the beach are covered in old charred weapons and armor with remains of ships also scattered around In the distance, a massive cloud of steam is seen erupting out of what looks almost like a geyser of intensely boiling water The quiet sounds of the waves are the only noises accompanying the terrified hunters as they stare at the doom heading towards them Then, as Dire’s theme slowly kicks in, he raises his head out of the water The water doesn’t even get a chance to drip down from him before it all evaporates into steam Dire plants his foot down firmly causing the entire area to shake for a brief moment while he curls his head to his side Smoke explodes out of each vent on his back, neck, and wings sending a wave of heat out singeing land over a thousand feet away from him and pushing the hunters back, this causes the clouds to become even darker throughout this cutscene Then, as the music quiets for a moment his wings erupt, shooting out huge amounts of magma while he screams at the dark sky Chunks of raging lava begin to fall down from the clouds, each one causing the area around it to glow orange, almost appearing like shooting stars The hunters desperately try to avoid the apocalypse of fire as in the background, you can see meteors dislodge huge chunks of the rocky mountain side Then, while the music climaxes the fight begins with the beast, staring directly at your hunter If dire got remade well he would be the best monster

This really fits with the theme of Dire Miralis, a Black Dragon, being an apocalyptic harbinger of death and destruction or a god in the sincerest term. It really makes it feel you're fighting against the end of the world itself, here.

I recently experienced Dire Miralis as someone who has only played the 5th gen games and GU. Dire was just so cool with him fitting the term "volcano dragon" more than Zorah. Plus Dire's theme is beautiful, it kept my hopes up as I was desperately trying to solo him. I'm glad I didn't have to resort to getting people online, Dire was intense! I hope he can return someday, if the swimming mechanic ever comes back as well. It's a shame that with the online going down in April, I doubt many newer players will even see this guy!

After a bit of research, I've learned that "boiling the ocean" may be a bit of an exaggeration, even for something like Dire Miralis. I'd suspect it probably raised the average water temperature of the Tainted Sea to around 110 degrees Fahrenheit - pleasantly warm to us, and not enough to scald skin. However, getting within a few feet of the beast in the water would probably be dangerous - water of 125 degrees is hot enough to inflict a full-skin thickness burn within 2 minutes; at 130 you get burned in 30 seconds; and 140 scalds you all the way through in a mere 6 seconds! Plus, we can see in our own world how just a change of just a few degrees in ocean temperature can kill entire coral reefs and turn them bone-white. You see, corals can only handle water temperature ranges of 70-84 degrees Fahrenheit. Once you hit 85, coral die-offs start. This means that even a pleasantly warm 110 degrees is _far_ too hot for anything aquatic in the real world to live in full-time. Thus, it may not be able to boil the ocean, but Dire Miralis unquestionably has the power to kill an entire aquatic ecosystem with its body heat alone.

MH3U online is still in service It's the first time the servers weren't maintained by Capcom but actually by Nintendo, which might be why since then, they haven't gotten shut down after a new release. So no need to go through it solo. Edit: Might have to elaborate on that. MH3U for 3DS never had online, the servers for the WiiU version are still there however. Also if you need friends to play with, try hitting up the Gathering Hall Discord. It's where I found one of my closest MH partners and we went through the entire game together just before MHGU came out
Very powerful. He's one of the three black dragons, the other being Fatalis and Alatreon. Black dragon always means its a powerful being, pretty much god level, in Monster Hunter. The water you fight him in at first is tainted red with the life he's boiled alive. Dire Miralis is pretty much heat incarnate and brings forth the apocalypse, shooting meteors that come crashing down from his body, sinking islands as he sees fit. You know. Stuff a black dragon does every Sunday.

His fight is at land and water, and they said they won't bring battles in water back in world. So Dire Maralis, Gobul, Lagiarcus etc. won't come back for world. Maybe even forever.
I don't think that would happen, because every monster have they unique way to kill them, and yes only old main monster in other mh series got to mhwi(sorry for my bad english)

Well... We've seen new Alatreon and new Fatalis. Looking at new Fatalis... What would they do with Dire Miralis in the future? Unless underwater is back in Rise we can be certain that it won't return, but after Rise?
I mean it might return. With the new wirebug mechanic we could could probably rise above the water and maybe land on him. And if we need to hit weak points like his shoulders and chest we could quickly dive in the wirebug with an oxygen metre, release a combo and wirebug back to the surface. It could. I hope it's not just wishful thinking though
I really want to see a new brand black dragon in rise or in the incoming 6th gen it would be very lame if they put something like dire miralis and crimson fatalis in one game they really need to bring a new black dragon
his underwater fight was never a big deal anyway he just slapped you around underwater on land they could give him a bunch of new attacks and make a proper siege fight in a big place
I hope they have it in ‘em to give him a nuke like Fatalis has. I’ve already got an idea for it: The camera zooms out to Dire, who groans and turns his head and wing-cannons to the water, charging up a massive fireball. “GET OUT OF THE WATER, _NOW!!”_ Red fire starts shooting out of all three openings directly into the water, and slowly starts turning white. The water starts boiling, doing tick damage. Once it goes white, Dire blasts the remaining fireball into the water, flash-boiling the entire area. It evaporates the surrounding water, which fills back in from the sea behind him.
A few Days ago I finished every single Weapon of him and his Armor. Took me not too long, 38 kills or so. And for this Halloween, its October rn, I am planing on making a mini clay Statue of him. Im only moderatly talented, but im sure it will look good regardless.
Just beat him today with full Goldbeard set and fully upgraded Brachy DBs. It took little under 35 minutes. Just a reminder of the busted mechanic that was Slime back in the day.

Fatalis may canonically be the strongest of the Black Dragons, but the atmosphere of his fights never really went past "really scary and angry dragon". Dire's music and environment REALLY make you feel like you're facing the end of the world.

Never made sense for it to be the strongest. We have Alatreon, a monster that is basically the avatar, this bad boy who's massive and may have the best fire abilities due to being able to throw freaking meteor's, plus there's white fatalis who is unquestionably stronger than normal fatalis.
@@AxisChurchDevotee While I should've been more specific, I was referring to Fatalis as a species there - White is undoubtedly the most powerful monster in MH canon, but they seem to be sticking with Black outclassing all non-Fatalis Black Dragons in threat level, probably just as much to do with its sheer aggression as its power (Alatreon is a natural disaster on wings, but it seems to prefer minding its own business).
@@splitjawjanitor5369 I think Alatreon and Dire are both classed as black dragons. Power wise they are definitely on fatalis's level as it wouldn't make sense for them not to.
In Alatreon's case, it makes sense it is not seen as dangerous since it wants to be left alone. Dire though, it definitely is a walking apocalypse that needs to be put down ASAP and is probably worse than Fatalis as it's sheer existence is a threat due to boiling entire oceans.
The dude has a literal proof of a hero blended in its theme with addition of terrifying orchestra and vocals. NO theme conquers it

You know what gives me chills every time I fight this monster? The fact that 0:50 plays every time the cutscene ends and you see the meteors fall all around you. It’s routine for me to NEVER skip this one monster’s cutscene.
The perfect way they signified this was the intro showing the penultimate destroyer of worlds, a creator of land and annihilator of life trying to intimidate you with a show of power....
Then you, a brave, foolish, noble Hunter, who has bested mountain sized beasts and other Demi-gods, charge right into the fray against this raging lord of monsters.

Doing this guy solo feels just right
I recently replayed MH3U (3DS) and when I went to fight him, he was easier than when I was a greenhorn hunter many years ago, but still a very enjoyable hunt.
Go back to 2013, it would take me all the time I had, two faints, barrel bombs, armorskin/demondrugs and countless potions. now it takes me just over 25mins with barely any health loss and without the items I said.
I seriously hope they find a way to bring it back, Tainted Sea is one of my favourite maps and Dire Miralis is one of my favourite Elder Dragons (along with Ceadeus, Dalamadur and Nakarkos)

The sands of the beach are covered in old charred weapons and armor with remains of ships also scattered around
In the distance, a massive cloud of steam is seen erupting out of what looks almost like a geyser of intensely boiling water
The quiet sounds of the waves are the only noises accompanying the terrified hunters as they stare at the doom heading towards them
Then, as Dire’s theme slowly kicks in, he raises his head out of the water
The water doesn’t even get a chance to drip down from him before it all evaporates into steam
Dire plants his foot down firmly causing the entire area to shake for a brief moment while he curls his head to his side
Smoke explodes out of each vent on his back, neck, and wings sending a wave of heat out singeing land over a thousand feet away from him and pushing the hunters back, this causes the clouds to become even darker throughout this cutscene
Then, as the music quiets for a moment his wings erupt, shooting out huge amounts of magma while he screams at the dark sky
Chunks of raging lava begin to fall down from the clouds, each one causing the area around it to glow orange, almost appearing like shooting stars
The hunters desperately try to avoid the apocalypse of fire as in the background, you can see meteors dislodge huge chunks of the rocky mountain side
Then, while the music climaxes the fight begins with the beast, staring directly at your hunter
If dire got remade well he would be the best monster
Imagine it… you’ve slain the Alatreon and taken your rightful place amongst the highest ranking hunters, thinking that the slaying of the equivalent of a sky born demon was the end of the troubles of humanity…
And now, you are sent- possibly to your death- against what could have possibly brought about the very soil you stand on. A creature so monumental, so horrifically awe inspiring, that it has the capability to sink islands and destroy continents with its mere existence.

This really fits with the theme of Dire Miralis, a Black Dragon, being an apocalyptic harbinger of death and destruction or a god in the sincerest term. It really makes it feel you're fighting against the end of the world itself, here.

This music is soo epic that I feel powerfull
I recently experienced Dire Miralis as someone who has only played the 5th gen games and GU. Dire was just so cool with him fitting the term "volcano dragon" more than Zorah. Plus Dire's theme is beautiful, it kept my hopes up as I was desperately trying to solo him. I'm glad I didn't have to resort to getting people online, Dire was intense! I hope he can return someday, if the swimming mechanic ever comes back as well. It's a shame that with the online going down in April, I doubt many newer players will even see this guy!

After a bit of research, I've learned that "boiling the ocean" may be a bit of an exaggeration, even for something like Dire Miralis. I'd suspect it probably raised the average water temperature of the Tainted Sea to around 110 degrees Fahrenheit - pleasantly warm to us, and not enough to scald skin. However, getting within a few feet of the beast in the water would probably be dangerous - water of 125 degrees is hot enough to inflict a full-skin thickness burn within 2 minutes; at 130 you get burned in 30 seconds; and 140 scalds you all the way through in a mere 6 seconds!
Plus, we can see in our own world how just a change of just a few degrees in ocean temperature can kill entire coral reefs and turn them bone-white. You see, corals can only handle water temperature ranges of 70-84 degrees Fahrenheit. Once you hit 85, coral die-offs start. This means that even a pleasantly warm 110 degrees is _far_ too hot for anything aquatic in the real world to live in full-time.
Thus, it may not be able to boil the ocean, but Dire Miralis unquestionably has the power to kill an entire aquatic ecosystem with its body heat alone.

It's the first time the servers weren't maintained by Capcom but actually by Nintendo, which might be why since then, they haven't gotten shut down after a new release.
So no need to go through it solo.
Edit: Might have to elaborate on that. MH3U for 3DS never had online, the servers for the WiiU version are still there however.
Also if you need friends to play with, try hitting up the Gathering Hall Discord. It's where I found one of my closest MH partners and we went through the entire game together just before MHGU came out

Very powerful. He's one of the three black dragons, the other being Fatalis and Alatreon. Black dragon always means its a powerful being, pretty much god level, in Monster Hunter.
The water you fight him in at first is tainted red with the life he's boiled alive. Dire Miralis is pretty much heat incarnate and brings forth the apocalypse, shooting meteors that come crashing down from his body, sinking islands as he sees fit.
You know. Stuff a black dragon does every Sunday.

He is literally the opposite of ice. Also, i here the avatar black dragon got leaked in MHW and it would make much more sense if the black dragon that uses a lot of ice would be in iceborne
His fight is at land and water, and they said they won't bring battles in water back in world. So Dire Maralis, Gobul, Lagiarcus etc. won't come back for world. Maybe even forever.

Well... We've seen new Alatreon and new Fatalis. Looking at new Fatalis... What would they do with Dire Miralis in the future? Unless underwater is back in Rise we can be certain that it won't return, but after Rise?
I mean it might return. With the new wirebug mechanic we could could probably rise above the water and maybe land on him. And if we need to hit weak points like his shoulders and chest we could quickly dive in the wirebug with an oxygen metre, release a combo and wirebug back to the surface. It could. I hope it's not just wishful thinking though

his underwater fight was never a big deal anyway he just slapped you around underwater on land they could give him a bunch of new attacks and make a proper siege fight in a big place

Red fire starts shooting out of all three openings directly into the water, and slowly starts turning white. The water starts boiling, doing tick damage. Once it goes white, Dire blasts the remaining fireball into the water, flash-boiling the entire area. It evaporates the surrounding water, which fills back in from the sea behind him.

A few Days ago I finished every single Weapon of him and his Armor. Took me not too long, 38 kills or so.
And for this Halloween, its October rn, I am planing on making a mini clay Statue of him. Im only moderatly talented, but im sure it will look good regardless.

Just beat him today with full Goldbeard set and fully upgraded Brachy DBs. It took little under 35 minutes. Just a reminder of the busted mechanic that was Slime back in the day.
