    I found one of these at a second hand store with a working meter, I picked it up for less than $50. It’s a very easy disassembly and clean to clear up the viewfinder. The lens elements are easy to remove so you can clean old oil off shutter and aperture blades as well. Side by side: it’s hard to see the any difference in photos from my Olympus 35 SP or RC, Olympus XA, Yashica Electro 35 or even the tiny Konica C35. But it’s fun to own and shoot!

    Hello! Do you still have this camera? Does it work well for you? Has it given you a lot of problems? Do you use it a lot? I am interested to know if it is a reliable machine or if the electronics fail a lot. Thank you!

      @MeTheDroidor I don't own this camera anymore, but it worked fine for the time that I had it. With this camera and all cameras, it is a good practice to remove the battery when you are not using it. I have been doing this for years and feel it has prolonged the lives of many of my cameras.

    I picked up one of these in pretty good condition several months ago and haven't put a roll through it yet.
    The viewfinder is good but quite blue as are many viewfinders on cameras from that era, but still best Ive seen less hazy then olympus rc I had. My lens also has developed a little looseness/play, rocking sound of part of lens moving in relationnto the rest of lens, which is a little worrying.
    I also find the amount the shutter button needs to be depressed is a little far, like 1cm, can cause snaps to be slightly delayed by fraction of a second.
    Other then that I think it's pretty nice, and am sure I'll get some nice pictures out of it.

    There really are not many electronics in these to fail, certainly nothing like later cameras. The vast majority of issues ppl have with meters in these are related to corrosion in the battery box, often battery lead wire rot which can travel very far up. If you actually hold and handle one of these directly next to a C35 (or even the later Cosina clones of the AutoS3 from other brands) you'll immediately notice how much better the sound and feel is - many components though they look similar are different and higher quality material and tolerances. Try it, it's bizarre considering how similar the models are. Seem like a totally different tooling at factory.
    All that to say, you're confusing "old and made to be compact and light in it's day" with "cheapy feeling". Genuinely cheapy feeling cameras exist from back then - this ain't one of'm.

      @@wrldwar3 Yeah I re-read my comment and it came across all "murphmurphmurph this is the way it is murphmurph". That's all in my opinion of course. They're definitely cheapy feeling and electronics laden compared with an older heavier Contax or Pentax S series or many others, but I can think of few cameras this small that are as well made, barring maybe a Rollei 35. :) Cheers - enjoyed your video.

      This camera relies on the meter to set the exposure. It needs a battery to power the meter. It does not operate manually.

    • @pothos89
      @pothos89 4 года назад

      It probably will with some work. Putting it back again is another story. I'm sure that there are people who will remove it and convert it to M-mount, but it will probably cost you more than a good LTM or M-mount lens of similar quality.

    I have one of these and I don't know what's wrong, but my photos consistently come out blurry even though I'm focusing. Any ideas? I'm new to the world of SLR cameras so I don't know how to check if my range finder is misaligned or fix it - tips would be appreciated!

    • @wrldwar3
      @wrldwar3  4 года назад +12

      Hi,
      The rangefinder is probably off.
      HOW TO CHECK IT:
      You can check it by setting the lens to infinity (all the way in) and focusing on something far in the distance (like the moon). If the double image doesn't line up, the rangefinder is off.
      HOW TO ADJUST IT:
      Open the camera back and you will see a screw on the upper left film rail. This screw is merely a cover -- remove it and you can then access the rangefinder horizontal adjustment screw. You will need a tiny flat screw driver to adjust the screw until the double image lines up. It usually only takes less then 1/4 of a turn in either direction.
      I hope this helps.

    • @Ghlknxmk
      @Ghlknxmk 4 года назад

      @@wrldwar3 Thank you! One other question - to remove the top cover screw, do you have to get under it somehow with a small screwdriver? It seems pretty flush to the film rail, so I am unsure how you remove it and don't want to break anything.
