I noticed that over the years when abc sports was still used. I'm pretty sure they used this exact theme from 1994-1996. It was from 1997-2005, where they played a heavily modified version of this theme. They played many revised versions of this from 1997-2005, but still used tyhe same basic theme which was a heavily modified version of this from 1997-2005 before ESPn on abc took over.

@crowley625 How do you know this. I did see a clip of the Spatan Band playing part of this music for the 1995 game against Michigan but it didn't sound quite the same as this? Did Anthony Dilorenzo also compose this theme? Anybody have a clue about 1990-1993?
This theme would have been perfect for Alabama football how they have been since Saban got there. Alabama went 12-1 only loss to Florida the year this theme debuted in 1994. The other 2 years it was used Alabama was good not great like 8-3 and 10-3 in 1995 and 1996. Then after this theme retired in 1997 Alabama went through a rough stretch from 1997 to 2006 with a lot of coaching turnover and bad seasons followed by some decent ones off and on until they got Saban and became what they have been the best program and a dynasty with 5 national titles the last 13 years.
ESPN Sucks! They help ruin ABC Sports then they ruin them selfs. ABC College Football was Awesome! Reminds me of 1996 Noter Dame vs Texas 27-24 ND Wins.
That sure was a great Northwestern team. If it weren't for a botched snap on a punt against a good Miami of Ohio team, they would have been undefeated at 11-0 going into the Rose Bowl.
My favorite college football team of all time. Nobody gave them a chance to do anything before that season. Barnett took the Purple to Pasadena and now Fitz carries on the same legacy today. Shame they couldn't stop Keyshawn Johnson that day and finish it off.
After watching greatest seasons:1995 football on Big Ten Network, I thought to myself that Notre Dame's downfall started with that loss to Northwestern. They still had a good year but the next they declined a bowl game and they've struggled just to beat midlevel teams ever since. I really wish Notre Dame would swallow their pride and join the Big Ten. I think you could even make a case the Wildcats have been a better team than the Irish since 1995 (which is my lifetime of following sports).
@Dees Nuts yeah since I made that comment (12 years ago wow) Ive read that many consider the BC loss in 1993 to be beginning of the decline. They seem to have gotten back to being a good solid team that avoids letdowns but can't seem to crack the highest tier of Alabama and Georgia. (But then again nobody else does either.)

Damn, still gives me goosebumps to this day. As a Washington Huskies fan, I remember hearing this theme many times during the fall.

Memories from Pre-School and Elementary School 1994-96 Pre-Kindergarten through 1st Grade
To me, this was the theme of College Football in my early years following and watching the game in the mid-90's.
The Spartan Marching Band was selected by ABC to record this theme. As for the composer, I'm unsure.
Its the Colorado Buffaloes' stadium. This was a picture from the intro when Michigan played Colorado in 1996. Michigan won the game 20-13.

ABC basically kept revising this and revising until and made different versions since they went to this one in 1994.
