  • **CHECK OUT PART 2! • How to Work With Styre...
Episode 1 of a 2 part series on How To Work With Styrene! This will cover some of the basics, as well as some helpful techniques. Styrene plastic, is a durable, flexible material that is very easy to use with only minimal tools and basic knowledge. It can be heat-formed, vacuum-formed, chemically bonded (glue), and cut with only a sharp knife...
    Or dental floss! www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Ozlo...
It is a favorite among model train enthusiasts, but has been a huge hit in the Radio Controlled world for constructing scale accessories or even entire bodies for RC cars and trucks.
/ rcculture ... RC Culture has asked me to build the body for one of his models ... Project Expedition! This is really an amazing vehicle, and although not a lot has been published about it yet, the plans he has in the works are EPIC ... you really REALLY need to check it out, and SUBSCRIBE to RC Culture so you won't miss any future updates or builds!
The next video will show more about how to make curves and bends with sytrene... much more complex than just flat pieces, but necessary to do in order to bring your build to that next level!
It will also let you know exactly what kind of vehicle Project Expedition is going to be!
In the meanwhile, do you think YOU know what it is?
Stay tuned for more updates on this, and other projects that MrRcFanatik/Fanatik Motorsports has going on, and SUBSCRIBE so you don't miss anything!

Subbed! That was really well done and a great edit with good music! I learned a lot watching this, you really explained it well. I just cut my new Gellande Cruiser body kit in two for a truck cab. My first hardbody and styrene endeavor. Do you recall what was used for the rivet heads on the tail light assemblies? That is a nice scale detail there. Thanks again for the lesson and content!

It was... It is.. well it will be for sure ;) Your project really sparked my interest. The 130 hi-cap is a favorite of mine. I use to work at a custom Land Rover shop here in Maine, USA and we got to build some really cool trucks. We did 110 hi-cap but I never had the pleasure of doing a 130. You really captured the spirit of the vehicle in your build. keep up the good work!!

      @FanatikBuilds  7 лет назад +1

That's really cool! I've never even seen a defender pickup here in Ontario Canada. I do occasionally see a 110 wagon but it's amazing how expensive they are... I guess you have to pay to be different! I really appreciate the kind words, best of luck with your project, and feel free to check out my D110 build series, as you may enjoy that too! Cheers :)

Couldn't find any hobby grade pvc amidst the quarantine. Bought them wee batrhroom plastic windows in a hardware store, they use them for covering the pipes and water meters, also only 2 mm thick. Also, has a frame, cut it up to make posts and the frame. Very flexible under heat and robust, guess it should hold up well vs moist as well and won't dry out and crack easily. Thought would share the tip if anyone has the same sort of jam.
Great work by the way, sub'd!

I see so many people just scoring and snapping the off-fall or piece from the stock. Why? I have found that more often than not, it leaves a rough edge and even some times snaps wrong taking a bit with it then I end up having to fix it or re-cut it. So now I just go ahead and take a few more slightly heavier than light passes to cut all the way through, leaving a clean precise edge. The only cleanup is a good flat block with some 320 or 400 grit paper to knock off the ridge left from cutting, which happens no matter how you cut it.
    Cool build though. Well done.

How were you able to keep the wheel wells curved when gluing? I didn't see that in the vid? Great job by the way.

dude! I'm new to scale, and this has me totally stoked to jump in. I've just ordered an Ascender kit, and I'm all over an interior. may I ask what glue you are using?

Dave Aschenbrand Awesome man! I use a few types, plastruct plastic weld, humbrol ploy cement, and gorilla super glue. Different types for different situations, and it's kind of trial and error to find out what works best for yourself, but those are what I use, and they work for me!
      Have fun man!
