I'm seriously wondering what the hell Genji was doing, in that first match of his. Like dude had to have ultimate'd at least 5 times before the clock even reached the 74 second mark.
Then Spherax being an all around asshole by WAITING until his opponent chose a character...Why didn't they make this like a player match? YOu're opponent should NOT be knowing who you choose!

God, these bad uses of the rasengan cancel is giving me anxiety. A normal person wouldn't risk using a rasengan cancel to maneuver around even if they had 1% health left.

take out the support mechanic & maybe you could put this game in EVO....maybe. the character gap is hella wide tho. there are characters no one would ever play and characters EVERYONE plays
Yet Marvel Vs Capcom has support so what are you talking about take it out and it could be in Evo. BlazBlue Cross Tag was at Evo too and that has support slash tag team.
And Character gaps are in every game and everyone complains about how wide it is but that's every fighting game.

I'm mad salty right now. If this is how people were going to play in the tournament, I would have been $20K richer.
I'm not doubting their skill at all, but even you have to admit that some of these matches were below par at best compared to the things I've seen and run into on a normal day in Ranked.

There like 60 other characters and yet these characters too me these are the main picks for try hards

And I played for years since day one over 14000 matches between two accounts I still play from time to time it’s still garbage even with the new characters added and if your not god tier then you can’t beat most spam it’s not fun facing someone who doesn’t understand the game mechanics to the same level you do because you always win and they rage quit... and don’t get me started on the WiFi warriors

Personnally i like to beat them with tenten or tsunade the so call "bad characters" you have so much choice! Jinchuriki, old and new kage, akatsuki...Really they are pathetic.

What I don't get is, why would anyone say that this isn't a competitive game? When Smash Bros. and Divekick are seen at tournaments...
Smash Bros. was never suppose to be taken seriously as a real fighting game, nor played at a big event for money.
Also people who say ''Naruto Storm games have no depth'' - yet Divekick is a thing and has a tournament scene.
Any game can be competitive, hell Hearthstone has a tournament scene! That game isn't even skill based, that's literally 'have the best cards the game'.
I don't even play the games often and think people are wrong for having such a stupid mentality.

These guys look so bored playing this. Look at the cod tournaments lol they're really active playing it.
no offense but a game like this shouldn't be on the competitive scene. it's literally press O to attack unlike street fighter, mortal kombat or tekken, a lot of variations can be done and attacks and combos are made within a string of buttons.
+Z Wolfine I know Tekken and SF are more in depth fighting games and Naruto is just simple to play with pressing O but that is the point. The game is so simple to learn but is is hard to master. There are a lot of little things in the game which makes the fighting skill based. There are a lot of tricks that a normal viewer may not see first but if you are playing, you can feel the difference between a button masher/spammer and better player.

Well we can't really say the game don't have that depth to be in a competitive scene. It still have its own complexities just not as much compared to other Fighting games. I still like it having its own tourney btw. I Prefer games such as tekken to in the competitive scene but this is also like they tried Naruto.

+Z Wolfine People said the same about the Smash bros series. The meta of all fighting games does not revolve around combos themselves, there are pro players that do the basic combos / BnBs on characters they're unfamiliar with and still beat unranked / casual ranked players when they do Viewer matches. This game's combos are pretty simple but it seems like you're implying it's easy and there's no type of complexity due to the combos being simpler. I have 1k hours SFIV not pro or anything, equal hours in the newest Guilty Gear on steam and I'm in love with Blazblue, I watch all those tournaments and I JUST started watching these and I still think this game is worthy of a competitive scene.
It takes practice and commitment to master the things you need to be good in this game. I've been playing, watching videos and learning tricks all week and I still get bodied when I go online and play against a player with 4000+ more BP than me... That's a good sign that it takes some sort of skill. The few technical skills I picked up over this week (universal to most fighting games):
Spacing/Zoning (Shuriken, Jutsu, Supports)
Mixups (Jutsu, Supports, Character specific attacks, Tilts, Throws, Resets)
Defense (Substitution, Counters, Ninja Moving)
Cancels (Jutsu cancel, jump cancel, dash cancel, item cancel)
Predicting the opponent in this game can be tricky with the variety of supports, characters, and play styles used per character and team. Some of these playstyles and what not are just a bit cheesy and overpowered (high tier) much like in SFV only CERTAIN characters and players make top 10 EVO and only certain players ever win it. The mind games in this fighting game are different because of the Substitution meter and the maximizing of combos.
I didn't mean to sound like I'm arguing or anything but I just started this game a week ago and it's still too difficult for me to even take off 50% life from a player with more wins than myself... If this game was that simple then I should be able to win by now but I only beat noobs / people who are truly casual to this game. I've been getting bullied otherwise lol, and it's not cause of the character picks either, I lost 1v1 to a character nobody plays in this game q.q

+Enderace There's no skill needed. It's a button masher fighting game hence y it was never introduced in EVO
Enderace it also doesn't take skill, of course you can make any game competitive, but the game is so easy.
