It certainly must take a lot of nutrition to grow antlers that large.

Great footage there eh! It's amazing how quickly the antlers grow... I'm going to try this the dark spot on the ground is that a wallow or mineral lock wondering how to pick a spot to set up a camera?

That is a rut pit that has been used year after year. I’ve been putting a camera here for probably six years and it was what initially attracted me to this location.

Wow! Is that bulking up because of hormones leading to rut, or just natural growth of maturity? Is he young?

I would guess he is nearing his prime, but not there yet. Bull moose, lose a fair amount of weight during the rut and through the course of winter. The long awaited spring and summer bring a lot of nutrition and bulk the animals up to repeat the rut and make it through winter again.

@ The growth in a summer is amazing! And damn Santa won’t even bring me the two more inches in height I’ve always asked for.
