Wonderful and informative review! THE BEST BMW BY FAR! The X7 is unapologetically controversial and I LOVE IT! BMW is certainly not a crowd pleaser when it comes to the X7. The X7 is a true SUV killer!

We use many luxury cars to pickup our wealthy customers from the airport. So far this new 2023 X7 gets the most compliments from the drivers and the passengers we pickup. The six cylinder is a remarkable power plant.
Do you drop the television for them to watch? Is that what they compliment? How does the interior smell = Is it real cow leather, or a synthetic like MB-Tex?

The X7 has certainly upped the game! Will be interesting to see how Mercedes and Audi respond.
I think they just did with the new GLS and the new SQ8...didn't meet muster. The X7 reigns, for now. 🙂

I quite like the front end on the X7, suits it better than the i7 in my opinion.

You do a great job of critical examination and explanation and leave the derogatory puerile stuff to others. That is refreshing. I ordered one and revisit some of these sites to familiarize myself before it arrives. Obviously there is a rear view camera but what is a "rear view camera mirror?" does that mean it displays in the screen as opposed to the mirror? There was also hands free on my test drive as well. Is this a difference between 2023 model and the 2024 model they are delivering

While this rig makes it clear what American auto manufacturers should be offering at this price point, it's also apparent that the purchase price is only to price to get into the door. Everything else connected with operating this machine will be more expensive.
Escalade outsells X7 4:3 in North America. You can argue they are not the same class but they are both 3 row SUVs in roughly the same price range.
Yeah, I thought of that in doing my research but I didn't put it in that group...but you could.
The escalade It's just too long and too big Enormous
Escalade has less efficient powertrain and worse gas mileage.
The sport version Escalade-V is also less efficient than M60i.
My guess is Escalade leads only because it has more cargo space behind 3rd row. X7 has much less space in the trunk, and it is low point for large families hauling 3 kids, a dog and a large cargo
@@somurzakov Do you think the X7 would be fine for three toddlers? I just like it more then the Tahoe and more expensive Escalade
@@Alwaysbeclosing1774 toddlers will fit well, its just you wont be able to put much stuff in the back, and kids usually have ton of stuff especially on road trips etc. Yiu can get a rooftop storage box though
The X7 is an incredible vehicle
I opted for the 2022 X7, something about the headlights and the long screen dash wasnt appealing to me in the 2023. Even though I love that this one has an illuminated grill and more color options for the cabin ambience
agree , dont like the long screen dash. Thats why I got the 2022 X7 and not the GLS
I do like classic BMW interiors but have become completely used to the touch screen in my 2024 now.
I just got mine last week. I ordered a black xDrive 40i with the executive package. I’m very pleasantly surprised by the features and amenities and this thing looks and drives great! Overall I’m really impressed.

How long does it take to order x7?
The only thing about the new X7 is that the Driver Assistance Professional settings are no longer on the steering wheel - you now have to use the iDrive screen, which I don’t like. With iDrive 8, I just find myself taking my eyes off the road more and more. Although once adjusted, my X7 would just stay on Aux/USB 98% of the time lol

iDrive 8: Makes the vehicle a total fail.
Really? Previous versions of iDrive were considerably more aggravating. I like this.
@@stevehammes - 8 shortcuts are gone. Climate control buttons are gone. Heated seats and ventilated seats are now have to be turned on / off in software: No buttons. How in the world is this less aggravating than iDrive 7? Why would I want to navigate a menu system to complete simple tasks I will be performing every day? And please don't give me the voice commands solution. The voice commands are slow and half baked, at best.

Expect oil leaks around 35k miles.
Wouldn't keep longer then the 4 year warranty. Sick Ride though. Would drive for 3 to 4 years. Really hard to justify holding on to many of the newer vehicles for longer then warranty these days. To much stuff on these cars now that break.
@@Alwaysbeclosing1774 I agree. Keep it long enough to use the depreciation if you're self employed then trade it in at year 3 or 4. No way should anyone keep this beast into year 5 or 7. So many things that will go bad.
Don’t take it to a backyard mechanic then, take it to a genuine bmw shop or dealer who actually knows how to work on bmws then they will last you for many years too come trouble free

@@rdb-pc4sp much different times, the creativity levels of today are much different and radical. Honestly can even ask AI for designs now to get a baseline and go from there

No. It looks like a goddamn kia. Why would BMW throw out their most iconic feature, which every manufacturer is trying to achieve? You always knew it was a BMW in your rearview because of the headlights. This squinty thing is not it!
People praise Kia design so perhaps this is a compliment?
@@stevehammes Yes, their new models are nice...but so are BMW's! I don't see why they would abandon their classic headlights and make it look more generic. If they get rid of the kidney grills next gen, may god help us lol
While I don’t like the Kia slam, you are right about the headlights. The first thing I thought when I saw them was “Genesis,” which is remarkable when you consider that not long ago everyone was calling the old Genesis a hodgepodge of derivative style elements.
@@Andrew8126 Exactly, it looks more generic. I didn't mean to insult kia, but people confusing a BMW for a budget brand is the opposite of what they want. I think it's a terrible decision to abandon one of your most distinctive design features, when other brands are trying so hard to establish such a thing
I hate the dash panel . The boomerang I drive 8 instrument look cheap compared to Idrive 7 read at a glance dials and why the cheap I pad displays. BMW interiors used to just ooze class now the dash oozes cheap
I think 1/2 the X7s sold in the u.s. are on Long Island.
Facts these x7s are everywhere in Long Island, don’t forget about the Escalade as well

THE CHARACTERISTIC OF BMW VEHICLES WAS THE ROUND LIGHTS AT THE FRONT, WHICH UNFORTUNATELY THEY ARE ALREADY DROPPING WITH THE LATEST MODELS LIKE THE X7 !
THE LACK OF PASSION IN THE EXTERIOR DESIGN ITSELF IS ALSO NOTICEABLE, LIKE FOR EXAMPLE THE DESIGN OF THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AS IT ONCE WAS IN THE 90'S !
IF I WOULD BUY A BMW, I WOULD CERTAINLY BUY IT FROM THE 90'S, USED OF COURSE, WHICH IN MY VIEW ARE THE BEST DESIGNED BMWS IN GENERAL !
How would you compare the X7 to the multi award winning top model Kia Telluride considering we’ve been told by the auto world media the Telluride can compete with SUV’s costing tens of thousands more?
Not in the same league. A very nice SUV in its own right but…

I have it, think it's only okay. Like my Model X a little better. Only because initial acceleration is much smoother and you're basically gone from 0-90

Very nice car. Crazy how much cheaper cars in the USA are. I ordered a Volvo XC60 T6 Recharge not quite fully specd and am already looking at more the 100k. This BMW is naturally much more expensive as it is a totally different league.
Get rid of the 22 inch wheels, drive over a pot hole on a NE road, and get a flat or two. A serious down-side of the X-7, is that it is not body on frame, so if you need to tow your horse trailer or boat, you will need a separate vehicle. Also so many sensors and electronics (never intuitive on BMW's) and count the days until they all start to crash and cost $$$$$ to repair.
Hate the front.
you can buy 2 and a half bmw x1 instead of this and the x1 looks much better ;)

Uh, the Q7 isn't a rival to the X7 or GLS. It's an X5 and GLE competitor. Please so your homework better.

The only reason it outsold the GLS last year is because of supply chain issues, because in 2019, 2020 and 2021, the GLS outsold the X7. The X7 doesn't get close to the sales of the Escalade either.
So BMW is immune to supply chain issues?

@@stevehammes each one their taste. Jeep made this style front and no more, lately Hyundai, never liked it in any of the cars. Also the Mercedes like dash screen, the shifter knob and those illuminated arrows pointing to X7 are a lack of class and refinement. We chose X7 over GLS for a reason.

@@tteeydoc1 Citroens aren't sold in the US. The new 2024 X5 kept the BMW headlamps but unfortunately similar interior.
Interiors look cheap.
X7 has a big problem in its ability to drive through water that gathers during rains on the road. I do believe x7 have design faults that the company refuse to acknowledge

Can't get past how awkward this looks. I think bmw made it worse. Look at the 12 year old GLS and compare. This thing is a mess. The only lux SUV that looks right is the escalade.

@Harold In my garage is a Range Rover Sport. In my driveway is a 7 Series and a 3 Series. Affordability is not ia issue for me. And I have no issue with the innovative technology. I simply have the opinion that the new front-end design is hideous. If I'm not incorrect, this is still America, and I have the right to not like the design of the thing. There are lesser auto manufacturers who are doing split headlights that look way better than this. I understand that you disagree with me, and that's fine with me. I get it. It's like when people criticize the so-called unreliability of Range Rover. Most of those people have probably never driven one, much less owned one, while I'm on my 3rd Sport. But this is different. I'm talking about design and appearance, which has nothing to do with who can, or can't afford this terrible looking thing.
BMW uses very bad internal material never resist weather condition never last and spoils very easeily , it only looks good , after 100,000 km it starts giving you real headache with it's continous malfunction, you would be very lucky if found your self a generous buyer who accept to buy it in fare value .
I wouldn't say I like the front end. Its overall design makes it tall and narrow. It's like being an undernourished athlete.

edmond has 25% less than 2 stars because of the failure of car, how this proves getting better vs worse. most youtubers should stop trash talking and mention to watchers how this car is performing on road based on 1-2 yrs data.
Tell me how a reviewer who has the car for a week and experiences no problems can intelligently comment on dependability? I leave that research , as I should, to J.D. Power.
@@stevehammes this is the point, we watch your videos you can present the data from other sources with disclaimer. This gives a better picture of the product, you saying best product would create an impression to many and that decision would not be the best to buy their dream car.
