This great info. I'm sure it's not what a lot of people want to hear about their brand new cars, but these motor's were always variations of each other with slight upgrades here and there.. To this day, most Known Tuner's are still saying get a Gen 2 if you can.. Must be something to that even though I know Ford has made improvements over the years...
Should send those cams out to get profiled along with the rockers to see the rocker ratio and cam specs compared to gen3 and predator. Bench flow test the heads too.
Very interesting info, Shaun! As soon as I saw the new twin throttle body set up on the Mustang, I thought of how that would complicate a centrifugal or a turbo setup. I just saw a short from SEMA with a new Mustang with a pro charger that retained the twin throttle bodies. Personally, I'd have to do the swap to a single throttle body. I think it would look cleaner with a single and you know that there are no flow differences. I'm glad to see you and the business still alive and kicking on the Left Coast! I think next year my buddy in El Paso warranty runs out on his Shelby. I told him it's time for another road trip out to Cali!
Man, people who bought the DH got fleeced by Ford. They paid a premium for 14 more HP and Predator rods (which aren't much stronger than gen 3 coyote rods if any stronger at all) I'd imagine the crankshaft is a different part number because its balanced to work with the predator rods.
@@drfaticus They could have got a whippled GT for LESS than the DH if they just wanted the new Mustang. Hell they could have bought TWO 11-12 GT500's for 80K
Thanks for the tear down. I thought the 2024s had removable cam mounts. Maybe just the f150s along with the belt drive oil pump? Could you get a weight in grams for the GT500 rods with rod bolts for comparison?
Yeah, F150's have removable cam mounts, totally different block and heads, not compatible with Gen1/2/3 stuff. IMO the F150 is the Gen4, and the mustangs got an updated Gen3
@aedtuning8441 thanks man. Could you give a weight of the GT500 connecting rods with bolts? I am wondering if they are a direct replacement for coyote/4.6 rods. Thanks
@@mikealbert728 Will require a re-balance if you use them, and they are quite expensive for what you get. Not worth it IMO. Standard Boss/Gen2/Gen3 rods are plenty good.
@@mikealbert728 They won't weigh the same, even if they do the big and little end won't, which means a rebalance. Small end of the Predator rods are tapered, meaning less weight on the piston end.
Dude I just went on a guys RUclips channel and linked all this cause people with the new 24's keep insisting it's a Gen 4 Coyote and when guy's do reviews they say the same thing.. And It's Not.. The 10 Speeds got internal upgrades but other than that, Ford took an Intake and put 2 throttle body's 2 MAF's (a second point of failure to me) and 2 Cold Air boxes on them with a maxed out Tune.. They heads are the same too from what he showed reverse compatible even.. And OMG people hate hearing the truth.. WTF, It doesn't make it a bad car because it's running a Gen 3 motor.. It's the best American V8 car money can buy right now. Other than the S550's which we are seeing are the same and are selling used for half the price less even.. And once Lund and Other tuners gets their hands on tuning for them they will get even faster.. But I don't know why people can't handle the truth anymore.. But the only thing I will say about buying used make sure it only had 1 owner who took care of it and didn't heavily MOD it that's a sign it was beaten. Just saying.. I know we car guys take good care of our cars but not all of us really take care of them properly..
Do u have a recommendation for an 88mm Turbo? I know u said u switched over to a Garrett but there are so many to chose from now got any recommendation? Looking to make 1700-1800 whp GEN 1 Coyote CPR Turbo kit thanx. Has twin 44mm WG's now and a bigger BOV.
It's tricky, did it on my 2016 S550. BCM controls some engine parameters, including startup. Taking the BCM out of the mix was a good thing for my race car. The Can/Bus wires were hooked up and the dash then worked. I'm sure 2024 cars will have some other things necessary to get it to work.
I just googled mustang dark horse specs and on Fords web page it states, powered by a GEN 4 Coyote. 😮 They probably should get ahead of this and publish its a modified GEN 3.
OE mahle pistons are quite durable. M142P castings, we've taken them to 1200RW. I wouldn't do that in a built customers engine, but we did it on our test vehicle. Ran it dozens of times down the strip at 165+MPH, then tore it down for inspection. Video is on this channel I believe
@@mikep1584 BIG assumption on my part here as the pistons are a re-design of the skirt. Based on previous generations, parts material, and power handling unless there is a flaw in the design of the 24 pistons, no they would not be the weak link.

I'd imagine the rockers are the same as the standard GT since the heads are GT stuff.
Just a revised Gen3 head looks like.
Do you have a instagram?

Well makes since it's all about same as a gen 3 since they a gen4x that can be tuned with gen3 control pack.

In what way? This is exactly what Ford said they were…

Are the hydraulic lash adjusters the same or could these be better for high rpm
Is there a way to delete the camphazer? So it will chop?

Why is this a bad thing? Ford never said it was a gen 4

What's the difference of the valve geometry a different angle of the valve? Or is it just the length of the rocker arm that's different
Not 100% here, but generally the valves get moved for better airflow, which requires geometry changes. Ford did this on the GT350 heads.
Now let’s take apart the Gen 4 f150 engine and compare
Send me one.
Thanks for sharing.

So I could use a 24 control pack in my 24gt? How would that work?

Is the exhaust manifold bolt pattern on the heads same as gen 1 gen 2 or is it gt350/500 bolt pattern ?
@@garrettstayton Same pattern, uses Gen2/3 header gaskets
