Thank you Shaun! Your attention to detail, knowledge base and complete understanding of the functionality and systems of everything within the Coyote is incredible and what sets you apart from other builders!
A local shop near me constantly does OPG's and sprockets.. they have recieved bad ones from MMR, Boundary, never had a problem with TSS but availability is limited so they just purchase Ford Performance Part # M-6600-50CJ. If a customer supplies parts they have the customer sign a waiver.
Installed a set of boundary OPGs on my 13’ GT before boosting it. Made sure to check the clearance before install. No issues, knock on wood. No oil pressure issues.
Thanks for this video! Saved me. I was just about to buy Boundary, ended up going TSS. Only concern I have is TSS seems to not make crank sprockets anymore, will Boundary CS be okay?
NO Last one we had thru here retarded cam timing compared to OEM. I won't use anything boundary. FRPP crank gear is just fine. Have it on all our high HP builds.
I have heard good things about boundary. I think in general its good to check clearances going forward before installing any brand so to speak. I myself stay away from MMR as I have found several timing chain guide failures from them also
5w30-5w40 for na 5w50 sc. And in gen 1 specifically run your oil level .5-1 quart HIGH. A windage tray is a damn must in the gen 1 and 2 as well if you want your motor to live long. But high oil level is critical. And top it off every fill up
I see you on flores chat all the time, what's up man? I know flores says that higher oil viscosity will make the coyote pull timing, but its the opposite. This dude from AED spells it out very clearly in the 'coyote oil system explained' video. I listen to him when it comes to anything engine/mechanical related. And obviously I'm not going to tell Flores he's wrong on his videos because he'll just call me g*y and I'll get no where 😂 but when it comes to oil viscosity from what I've learned from aed and what I know about VVT motors(working on toyota for a long time) that oil viscosity is way more important than what people think. There really is a sweet spot here, and imo 5w40 is probably the best for NA with long tubes especially.
@TheManic.5-OH I hear you, I will have to go back on the aed videos and listen to that video. I'm currently running 0w40 shell Rotella t6 in my mustang now for 7 years.
Proper viscosity is determined by oil pump volume, main and rod clearances, and oil temp during operation. If you open up clearances, then you need more oil volume to deliver the same oil pressure. If the oil gets hotter, then you need more volume to maintain the same pressure. If you run a lighter oil, then you either need tighter clearances or more oil volume. It's just that simple.
I checked mine for my 13, they checked at .005-.007", a set of brand new oem 4v gears measured .002-.003". Caught before installing, luckily. Emailed them and they said the gears will expand, no warranty blah blah. Pretty sad when chinese parts have better quality control than an American aftermarket shop. MMR is garbage and they've been like this for the last 10 years plus, burned me twice. Never buying anything from them again. Thanks for calling them out.
Can I ask what brand these defective oil pump gears are? about to do oil pump gears myself. I'm going to guess MMR, I have seen a few problems with MMR products like their timing chain guides failing
Yes MMR. People are alittle hesitent on mentioning their name because theyll try and sue you lmao. Personally, I would never buy a part from MMR. I wouldnt buy a bolt from them. Nevermind OPG's
Great catch and thanks for sharing!
Good to know, I wouldn't have know to check the gears for clearance
Another fantastic video. You are the guy on youtube i listen to for anything coyote.

Wow. Great information. Shaun is highly recommended in the coyote tuning and engine world.

@@aedtuning8441 Thank you for the reply man, I appreciate it! Will use OEM cs with TSS OPG's
Thanks for the info. This was a big concern to me. 🙏
Been running Boundary gears for years in my 2012 GT with 1080whp. Zero oil pressure issues.
The boundary gears are really great. I’ve used several dozen sets with good service.
I have heard good things about boundary. I think in general its good to check clearances going forward before installing any brand so to speak. I myself stay away from MMR as I have found several timing chain guide failures from them also
What's your opinion on oil weight in a coyote engine? What oil weight would you use n/a vs a nitrous or supercharged engine?
It would depend on what you set your main and rod bearing clearances at when You build it.

Wire edm is great but its still a type of cnc machining. Regular milling is fine too just depends on quality control

TSS GEARS ALL DAY LONG and recommend by L&M Engines in my Gen 3 Aluminator - 24 psi at idle and at operating temp, 5w-50 Motorcraft full synthetic.
This a great video TSS is the only way to go !!!! F all the other brands
Must have come from O'Reilly's.
It says MMR on them
