Galla and Boer Goat Crossbreed | Heat Synchronisation

- Опубликовано: 1 окт 2024
- We have injected the female Galla goats with estrous syncronization hormone and have introduced two boer bucks to syncronize the does artificially to bring all them into heat at once so that all the does are bred around the same time and kid around the same time.

Welcome brother!
Hi shambani farm. Kindly Update us on the progress.
Will do when there's a significant progress. But at the moment the only thing that took place is the breeding that happened after hormone injection. Of course not all animals responded to the injection. I can say the ones we saw with certainty is about 45% of the entire herd.
Its been while.finally another wonderfull video is here.thanks
Thanks brother
Some have started showing signs already
I thought I was delusional. Kumbe hata wewe username?! 😄
Please, call it Borana goat. Galla is a derogatory term for Oromo people of Ethiopia. These goats belong to Borana, one of Oromo clans. Literatures call them Borana goat.
It's also called somali goat. Remeber somalis have more of this goats than the whole of the Ethiopia
@@ibrahimadan205 It is not about the number of goats. Some literatures already call them Borana goat. However, I don't object calling them Somali goat or Borana-Somali goat. These goats should not be called by the derogatory term Galla. That is what I meant.
Unfortunately us her in Tanzania identify it as a Galla goat and this is not anyhow linked to the derogatory term you are referring to. There is plenty of literature that identify them as Galla and even in Kenya as well they are known as such.
There's is so much literature that refers to these goats as Galla such that it has become the most common reference for them. And fortunately all of us who know them as Galla have no idea if the derogatory aspect of the name and just call them as such as a breed and nothing else. Here are a number of link with such references:

@@ShambaniFarm I know the majority of literatures, especially from Kenya, call them Galla goat. The goats are mostly reared by Borana people of Noerthern Kenya and Southern Ethiopia (also reared by Somali people). Borana is a clan of Oromo who in the past called Galla by others and hence the name Galla goat. I don't think people in Kenya are well informed about the derogatory nature of the term. In Ethiopia, all literatures call them Borana goat. An article by Ngila (Performance of Galla Goats Fed Different Cultivars of Brachiaria in the Coastal Lowlands of Kenya) mentioned that the goats are also called Somali goat or Borana goat. It would be good if you adopt one of the other two names, either Borana goat or Somali goat, rejecting the use of the term Galla. It would make a big difference as you have a lot of followers on youtube.
"Galla goats, also known as Somali or Boran goats, are indigenous to the arid and semi-arid regions of northern Kenya and are kept mainly for meat, although they also produce milk"
