    Hi sir.
    Question: can I start milking a goat anytime or is there a waiting period?
    Can I also milk a goat when she's pregnant?.
    What is the process?
    Thanks.
    God bless you.
    Good video

      You should not milk a goat beyond 2 months after she is pregnant. The goat needs a dry period where she is not being milked. That dry period helps her start building milk and most importantly building colostrum - the thick first milk that is full of antibodies to help build immunity of the new kid. Three months is what she needs as dry period. This also helps her improve her body condition since goats lose weight when being milked.

      You can start milking her as soon as she gives birth. But you need to ensure that the kid has suckled the colostrum first before you start milking the mother.

      @@ShambaniFarm hi sir. Thanks for replying so quickly. Very informative advice. Question: is it possible to milk a goat who is not pregnant at any time? Will she produce milk?
      Thanks

    • @ShambaniFarm
      @ShambaniFarm  3 года назад

      If she has kidded she can be milked for almost a year, depending on the breed and the health status of the goat. It's just like in humans whereby a mother can breastfeed her child for almost two years after giving birth. For dairy breeds they also can go almost two years with the udder continuing to produce milk after she has kidded.

    How someone can raise and then kill a pet is beyond me! It's barbaric and cruel! I couldn't even do that to a chicken, much less a goat. If humans were supposed to eat meat, our intestines wouldn't be so long that the meat rots in there! Unhealthy, and inhumane!!!
