- Victor Holtorf was born with an engineer's mind. And growing up on a ranch in eastern Colorado afforded him ample opportunity to tinker with various machinery and pickup trucks. Once he reached driving age, Holtorf's incurable urge to take things apart and understand them spread to his cars. While his earlier car tastes revolved around American muscle, Victor eventually found himself buying and working on vintage foreign classics. He would eventually land himself the highest horsepower version of the famed Lamborghini Countach, the LP5000 Quattrovalvole, featuring six downdraft Weber caburetors and four valves per cylinder. “I love carburetors,” says Holtorf. “I know fuel injection is better for a lot of reasons, but with a carburetor you have instant throttle response. There's not even a fraction of a second delay when you push the throttle and something happens. Plus, you can hear [the carburetors], and sometimes you smell the gasoline when you really get on the gas hard and all the pumps are shooting the gas in. It's a sensory feast.”

I'd rather have one of these than an entire collection of modern paddle shift supercars.
Ryan Chase 💯 % yes bro 👍
@Ryan Chase These old supercars are for real men!
@@GeneralLee1961.3 I pity the younger generation with the internet and paddle shifters. Give me a letter in my mail box and a stick shift.
@Ryan Chase Clutch and manual gear lever: that is the authentic sports car...
@@GeneralLee1961.3 Agreed. Nothing like it.
This car to my eye is still the most exotic car ever made. If I ever come into money somehow (I won't) a countach would be the first thing I buy. No joke!!!
@Echte Brabander Yea, emotional enough to make the owner of this sh*tfest kill himself.....
It's never too late to start making serious money. Learn how to invest, start and manage a business, and how to manage your time and money better. There's plenty of free information online to get started.
Totally agree. Watch the Petrolicious video with the white version, it really spends time showing the car at rest - just how low and wide it is, much lower than anything you can buy today due to ped collision regs
E-type
I would do the same depending on how easy getting in & out of the seat would be. I'm old now, and my body doesn't work the way it used to, so that would be the defining factor.., but I would LOVE to have one too. I remember when they came out waaay back when, and it was a feast for they eyes.
This video needed synthwave
hahahaha hey nice to see you Mr. Slav!!
I was listening to lost years lightbringers while watching this :D
A timeless classic. When Lamborghini was something special.
Listen to that engine, such a beautiful car. This car is probably my favorite Lamborghini.
me too
I thought it was my favorite too, and I still love it, but I saw a Miura SV up close a couple years ago and it was by far the coolest production car I've ever seen. I couldn't take my eyes off of it.
Much much better than German Lambo,s!
Diablo was mine
Bizzarini V12....
I wanted one when they were new, and I want one now. I'm glad he appreciates the rush of driving a car that communicates what it will, and will not, do - and more importantly, he's sharing that curiosity and excitement about cars like that with his children. That's truly awesome.
Damn your old
Amazing video. Driving that would be a dream of mine!
Woah, would never expect a comment of yours on a car video! Really appreciate your gaming videos, and glad you also appreciate the Countach. :D
Excellent work.
I had two Countach's. But for the going rate now I would rather have a Aventador . But the Countach was an UNBELIEVABLE car. I would go home and find cars in my driveway that followed me home just wanting to get a closer look at it. There will NEVER be another car in the same time and space like the COUNTACH - RIP BABY!
All new Lamborghinis is not Lamborghini anymore its just a modern plastic car from vw...no V12 sound can beat the old V12 like countach and Diablo and miura....nothing ....all new v12 today sound so boring....is it because its flatplane V12 today?? And old one was crossplane??
Yeah nothing like having a 1/2 million dollar car that you can’t drive in traffic or it will overheat. All Lamborghini are flat plane. And although I do understand what you’re saying to some extent in that it’s an iconic classic car it will never be worthless but I have to agree I’d buy an aventador or huracan or even a later model Diablo before this car. Especially with everything I hear about how hard they are to drive and they are super tiny I don’t think a countach is a car for someone who’s “rich enough” to buy one it’s for people who are rich enough to buy 10 of them or cars like them and can afford to let them sit 95% of time and put tires on them for 5,000$ not because they are worn but because they are expired and practically brand new, this is not something one can do with a couple million dollars and still be able to afford regular life .
@@vcall6121 stop making it more bad than it is...Diablo first gen was not a bad car and at least it sound 5 million times better than modern supercars.....flat plane V8 in my ass.....hah😆🤮🤮🥱🥱
1:00 I absolutely love this. Explaining this to a non-car-person would be priceless.
Not so shure. I have a late eighties mid-engined car of my own, not as fancy nor desirable, since it left the factory.
My ex-sister in law who's still close to us, cannot get the idea of a sports car, mine in particular. Yes she drives a Prius.
I'm 67 now and I don't see the day I'll sell it. Heck, my 2 brothers, the only ones I ever let drive it, tell me now "is'nt it time for you to get rid of it ? You're too old now for that." Duh.
They really don't get it. They don't know the joys of getting it out of hybernation in spring, or on early Sunday mornings and just drive errand. The sounds, the High revs sound, the snick snick shifting. I simply love it.
Some peole will never understand that.
Marc René Yvon what car you talking about? Must be something special;)
Yep. Jay Leno said the same thing. He said he drove the Countach everyday for 13 years because "this car wasn't built to sit in a showroom for 30 years so it could become a highly desired classic so it could sit in someone's garage for another 30. No. This car was built to be driven & begs to be driven by a driver who not only loves the driving experience but also truly knows how to drive"
Can't be said better.
In my opinion, the Countach is the best good looking car ever made. It was so ahead of its time.
Nowadays cars have over 1000bhp, they reach unbelievable speeds but they are soulless.
That is a beautiful road.
Boy oh boy, to be able to drive that car, on those roads...that would be a good time!
Makes me want to move to Colorado !
Now for the car...
Whoever is responsible for the cinematography/filmography for these videos , you make these special ! So videos of cars on RUclips but nothing imo matches these. Thank you
Congratulations to Victor for actually knowing how to properly drive this car. Hard to find people with the means to have cars like these and not just throw the gears
Being 60+ I fully understand the rush but also know how hard it is to keep these machines running . Wish I had the cash to have one of these
Growing up in the era of 50’s through the 80’s we have experienced some of the most amazing vehicles for an us gearheads to be driving. Such a magical image of a Countach blazing down a roadway captured from a drone camera as it pulls back to reveal an open road !
Great video
Absolutely brilliant video, love the balanced view of family, lifestyle, education (esp. for the children), passion etc.. Where he says "... it's about sensory input...", there are very few cars on the road that give this like the Countach, it's ultra-analogue, something our senses are being deprived of more and more nowadays. Long live the Countach, and RIP Marcello Gandini, the genius who designed it, together with the engineers at Bertone/Lamborghini.
One of my favorites cars--raw, outrageous, and a total blast to drive
One of the best produced videos I've seen on this car ~ Importance on family, purpose, and appreciation for a work of art not just a car. People in the year 3024 will still be driving this car and talking about it.
Another fantastic video! Thank you
2:34 OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God's house I'm in loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! What a dream garage dude!
What possible stress could you have living in that amazing area and having a countach to drive? Maybe.... What shoes to wear perhaps??
Where is that area?
just a chuck taylors wll do
Deciding what car to drive apparently
@@gottiducati
Hahaha... Decisions Decisions.. 🎅🤔🎅🤔
A wife would do that
Finally someone appreciates countach rather than expose how uncomfortable it is or whatever....... beautiful video..
Awesome!!! Victor is who works on my cars! Great guy.
best part.. you can tell the kids love their dad
My all time Favorite car. I remember seeing my first one as a young pup when my parents were watching Miami Vice. The white on white one that got chased by Don Johnson in that black Ferrari Daytona. Good times
But that was a kit car/fake ferrari......that why the blew it up n used a Testarossa to avoide lawsuit from Enzo Ferrari himself as am sure U know.
@@265308 I didn't know that was a kit car, interesting.
If you have a chance, watch that episode again. You will notice that the rear end of the Countach changes throughout the chase. They used two different cars for that scene. A euro spec, and an American spec.
You mean where the bad guy in the countach put his knife in the glove compartment? They filmed 2 countachs: look at the rims and taillights.
I still have this on Video 2000 (soooo '80s 😂)
Thanks for sharing the experience no modern car in the world can give you but everyone is looking for! I feel I need to get out for a drive right now...
My all time favorite car. In my favorite color scheme. And that sound that i could listen to anytime. This is what cars is ALL about.
I really enjoy this series. Great little stories about a connection with cars and environment.
The streets are looking so beautiful, I think I would have a big fat smile in my face the whole time if I would drive there
I can hear this man speak the whole day!
Beautiful! Subscribed.
Man, good for you. That's how I grew up, working on cars with my dad. They were usually Ford or MOPAR though. Those were good times. The Countach was a poster on my bedroom wall, a daydream. Pure unobtainium.
Very aptly chosen words, nice video and a stunning Countach! 😊
EPIC video
Best thing about this video; him passing along his passion and knowledge to his kids
I live in Fort Collins. I believe I saw your Countach around town years ago, at least I think I did, there aren’t many of them around here! I just found your channel today. Great content!
The best Countach video on YT. Bravo!
Fantastic video. Fantastic sound. Fantastic car 🙌
What a magnificent video!!
Mad respect Victor !
The countach is the best exotic car ever! Nothing gets your attention better than this car! Awesome sound, exclusive, draws attention!
Awesome video. The Countach was the first model I did by myself as a kid.
Fantastic video . Thank you
What a lovely sound!
One of the most beautiful cars ever built and the only car I had a poster of when I was a kid.
Nice one Victor👍
i love this one!
Great video and a passion for Countach and involving the kids is great too. I’ll drive mine as soon as the weather is fine. Yet no... But the films reminds me good moments...
I've loved the Countach since I first watched Cannonball Run. The opening scene with the Lambo tearing through the desert...Awesome!
Me too! Not only that, it inspired my love of all cars as I was only 7 when I saw it. I shared that intro with my kids and it gave me goosebumps!
awesome vid.. love how you get the kids involved too... nice
Again, a beautiful film...
I really hope he's right about always being able to enjoy older cars that communicate with you. He's definitely not wrong that it would be boring if, in the future, everyone just hops into their autonomous vehicles. I'm thankful of him for sharing this with his kids.
great car, awesome guy - perfect combination.
The only car I dream. Hope to own it someday. Nice movie and naration, it show deeply driving countach.
Only 4 words to describe the Countach: "It's a sensory feast". This guy nailed it.
the sound of the motor as in a game on a console from the 90s😍
Dima Kony No, the sound in the game console is the sound of that motor.
That sound!! Wow!
Awesome!
It NEVER gets old
What a beautiful video :)
Hey that's Rist Canyon outside of Fort Collins and Laporte! I used to ride my Bianchi up those roads. I was at a much slower analogue pace in my Italian engineered machine. ; - ) I used to be able to hit 60 or 70 on the way back though.
Awesome video, nothing but truth spoken
i love this thank you!
great video
Love this ! Amazing and so true
this was so beautiful
Absolutely my ultimate dream car since I first laid eyes on it!!!
Great video and awesome ride!
I would really like to drive on this road... :-)
What a collection.
I don’t have a Lamborghini but it still makes me feel good as a father to have my son help me change the wheel bearing on my Chevy cavalier....,Jesus those cars go through a lot of wheel bearings!
2:51 , Karmann Ghia sitting next to a Diablo 👍
This is why kids need dad's....to learn the skills, pass down the knowledge, build the passion and preserve the history...all whilst having and making memories along the way
Love the Counntach but WOW at all the Giugiaro-body Esprits in his garage!
Great, great video! I wish I was this guys kid!
That garage......it’s like art show.
Thank you for this nice video. Once I would love to drive a countach just for 10 min.
Not much of a Lamborghini fan but this was poetry no matter what you love
Lovely video, thanks! 1988.5 Countach owner
Your drive is so beaurtifful
Hi Victor, I think I met you years ago at the Mariposa, you were washing your S.E. 30, I still have the photos I took back then, I was excited to see a car like that geting a bubble bath . I'm still loving the Countach's and this one in the video is my favorite.
If that rings a bell, let me know.
If it doesn't. Thanks for posting the video. And great collection of Lamborghini's you have.
Kind regards Mike B., p.s. I have my collection on RUclips also if you or your children are into scale Lamborghini models.
Great vid.
I want this guy to adopt me !
This guyzzzz garage is Saaaaweeeet!!!
this is beautiful
Wheres the this is why I drive a 95 honda civic with a spoiler?
Colorado has some nice driving roads ... Cheers from Roxborough Park.
I like the windscreen wiper delete option, with modern glass coatings and high pressure (aftermarket heated) washer jets there’s little need for wiper blades on an everyday car let alone a Countach 😁👍 beautiful car
This is why MT is an analog car and very fun to drive..
I know the convinence of AT cars but no matter what, there's no pleasure of driving it without using the stick..
To use the stick is an art..
That was the color .....black with gold rims on tan interior ......a young boys dream car !
Master peace of lamborghini.
nice video.
I lived in the Flathead Valley of Montana and the mountain roads look so similar.
what a nice road
I know what you talk about and share the same passion for analogue, strenuous but super rewarding driving just for the fun of it.
I like the cannonball Run Countach, yours is awesome to
I like the way you think, get it in and drive. Those were I think more of a drivers sports car back then. You had to truly love to drive to truly appreciate the car.
i own and dd a 94xjs v12 6 litre....modified. i get it!
glad to see i am not alone with my passion for driving.
Awesome.
Hey I’m an old school Countach enthusiast, come to Maryland and take me to work, no need for coffee lol. Great video
Beautiful. My all time black with copper colour wheels.
