    The great zoologist Marlin Perkins hosted the extremely popular TV show "Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom" from 1963 to 1985. A Christmas Carol has been done many times in many forms - 'Scrooged' is definitely among the best, but a favorite in my house is 'The Muppets Christmas Carol' - we watch it every Christmas Eve, thoroughly recommend you watching if you've not seen it yet!
    You wouldn't think it so being a film with puppets, but it's a surprisingly faithful feel-good adaptation with a lot of heart & humor ... and the legendary Michael Caine as Scrooge just has to be seen to be believed!! ❤😁

      My favorite (for personal reasons) is The Rich Little Christmas Special, with legendary impressionist Rich Little playing almost all the characters, as other people. WC Fields as Scrooge, Inspector Clouseau as Christmas Future, with appearances by John Wayne, Columbo, Edith Bunker, Paul Lynde, Groucho Marx...
      Another one of those where only us old farts (and those with a serious knowledge of American pop culture) will get the references.

    For a very long time, I have always considered this to be the greatest Christmas movie ever made. That's saying a lot, especially when there are so many classics that I love. Yes, I'm aware that it's not an original story (I mean, duh) but it's just perfectly done. It has everything. The comedy is on point, the cast is superb, the pacing is flawless, the effects are extraordinary for its time, and when the tone gets dark, that's when the message hits hard.

      @treetopjones737 8 дней назад

      Music, not comedy. Around 1982, Johansen began performing under the pseudonym Buster Poindexter in a small club in his neighborhood. He adopted the pseudonym to avoid fans of his music from coming to the shows and asking for his music. The shows grew in popularity, and gradually the original three piece band with which he performed grew in size to the Banshees of Blue, accompanied by The Uptown Horns. They achieved moderate commercial success, performing jump blues, traditional pop, swing, and novelty songs. Shortly before the album's release, Buster began appearing as part of the house band on the television program Saturday Night Live.

    9:40 - Lew Hayward is one of my top favorite 'undead' makeup jobs of all time. I'm a makeup artist by profession; I've done many zombie-type makeups. I love zombie movies. I've seen a lot of zombies, mummies, undead corpses, etc. And I have my favorites. And this is one of them. One thing that makes him so different is that he is DRY. Most zombies go for the pros factor by being WET. Blood, goo, ooze, glistening gross scabs and stuff. Those are fresh zombies. But this guy had been buried in the dirt for years, and he is desiccated, dusty, and dry. Another thing is the eyes. Many undead will use contacts to show white eyeballs, like the cataracts or death have clouded them over. But again: that's "freshly dead." The eyes are one of the first things to go; they're so fragile, and so prone to drying out and shrinking into little eyeball raisins, and the eyelids shrivel up, and you're left with hollow, shriveled sockets, like Mr. Hayward here has got. It's spot-on. And the mouse with the golf ball? So hilarious.
    Sorry for waxing poetic about the nuances of dead bodies recreated through makeup magic, but I always love to give credit where credit is due. The team of Tom and Bari Burman did such a fantastic job with all of the makeup in this film, and especially that first Ghost. It sets the tone for the whole story, and they hit it out of the park.

From what I remember, it was a welcomed departure from the traditional Christmas Carole, similar to the plot of this film. Carol Kane played the adorably violent Ghost of Xmas Present- probably my favorite part of the whole film.

    The Ghost of Christmas Past was played by the incredibly talented David Johansen. Among other things, he had a musical "alter ego" called Buster Poindexter. You should react to his mega hit "Hot Hot Hot", even though my personal favorite is "Smack Dab In The Middle". He also acted in several other movies, and was a member of the Dolls, a legendary early New York punk band.

    Despite being a Bill Murray I was never all that crazy about this movie. However, watching it with Bisscute was very enjoyable. Biss is a great laugher as she really belts out those laughs. Biss, excuse me if someone mentioned this already. In the scene where he sees the waiter setting himself on fire “Lumpy” embarrassingly says “I thought you were Richard Pryor”. Pryor was a popular comedian/actor from the 1970’s and 80’s who had a serious drug addiction and while doing drugs he doused himself with rum and set himself on fire. Thankfully he lived.

    Who wouln'd love Bill Murray. Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day and this one are my favorite ones. Claire was also in Raiders of the lost ark. Bill is always playing the grumpy man with a good hart and he is great in doing this. Elf (2003) with Will Ferrell and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989) Chevy Chase are also worth watching. Thanks for your reaction on this movie. I love this one very much.

    Great reaction Biss like always, the last monologue by Murray was mostly ad-libbed on the spot? Director later said that Bill was in the zone and gave the performance of his life, spur of the moment. Love that whole ending act. Another fun fact from this movie: Bill Murray told Carol Kane (Ghost of Xmas Present) to just hit him as hard as she could to make it as good as possible for the bits. And she did, so all those times he gets nailed in the crotch or smashed in the face, were all real hits Kane did to Murra. "Bitch hit me with a toaster" was essentially a meme for 2 full years after that came out. Keep up the good work.

    Every Christmas in grade school my friend and I would have to watch this movie and laugh our asses off at the beginning where Santa gets attacked and wish that was a real movie. And also quote the acid rain/drug addiction commercial.

    Now that I know more about the way Bill Murray behaves in real life, the more I think he was not acting when he was playing the Scrooge-like version of his character, Mr. Cross, here.
