Skinceuticals told me that in terms of this product's ability to protect from environmental damage/free radicals is pretty much equivalent to Phloretin CF & C E Ferulic so its power as an antioxidant serum is roughly the same across all 3 serums, it's just that each one has additional benefits, the C E ferulic is best for aged dry skin that needs nourishment, for antiaging it is slightly better, Phloretin CF makes a big difference in fading hyperpigmentation cause of the Phloretin, Silymarin CF helps prevent acne from forming due to silymarin and salicylic acid, there also newer studies coming from skinceuticals showing that the silymarin might actually be useful for fading hyperpigmentation!
They included silymarin to prevent squalene oxidation which contributes to the development of acne, it reduces squalene oxidation by up to 76%, silymarin is also a broad spectrum antioxidant
When I asked skinceuticals why the Phloretin CF has just 10% Vitamin C compared to 15% in the C E ferulic, they told me that they wanted to create an equivalent product with a different more lightweight texture for a different skin type, so when they added 2% phloretin they found it was so powerful that they didn't need to use 15% vitamin c, cause that would have made the Phloretin CF superior to the C E ferulic cause it would make it a more powerful antioxidant serum & that simply wasn't their goal, in their in vivo tests all 3 serums protect from free radicals roughly the same
This stuff has been working very well for me. Even though I have dry skin, my smaller pores get clogged leading to breakouts, and I have discovered I have to avoid Vitamin E.
That‘s very interesting to hear. I will try it too as I believe we have similar skin conditions. I am using the CE Ferulic and it’s amazing, but I have this feeling that Silymarin will work better for me too.
Can't wait to see your full review on this! Apparently took 7 years to create and sounds like a dream for acne prone skin. Hefty price tag thought - makes me wonder as well if/when bother brands will try to duplicate this formula.
I’ve used skinceuticals c e ferulic before and I have oily skin. I never had a break with it and it never oxidized, so if you take care of the bottle properly it shouldn’t.
Have you heard of the brand cosmetic skin solutions? It low-key reminds me of a more affordable skinceuticals. I’m currently trying their copper peptide serum and really like it.
Hi! love your content thank you. Can you please do a video on how to clean and sanitise your airless jars? I received them recently and would love to have demonstration on this...I suspect many other viewers might as well! thank you!!
Oh that is a great idea- I'll have to do that! Thank you so much for supporting my channel, I appreciate it so much. What I typically do is rinse them out with water let it dry, then I'll take a cotton ball or pad (you could also use a washcloth) and soak it with a bit of isopropyl alcohol or hydrogen peroxide and wipe the inside out so there is no residue left. After that I let it dry for several minutes and after that fill it with the product of choice. Hope that helps, but I'll definitely do a video on this since I'm guessing others have the same questions!
Hi I have super sensitive skin and use hypochlorus to clean mine out. I then turn upside down to drain any remaining moisture. I tend to avoid alcohol just as a precaution re sensitivity. Sarah's method also sounds very good.
It really hurt to put a drop of this on a pH strip cause of the price xD BTW "Avene Cleanance Comedomed" contains 1.75% silymarin for way cheaper, sadly it is not available in the US tho but you can find it in the UK, Australia and Canada.
Hi! Is the percentage of silymarin in Acene Cleanance Comedomed disclosed somewhere? I cannot seem to find it on the packaging or website (EU based). Also heavy on the isopropyl alcohol that one, unfortunately.
@@jjvermunt Hi there, you will not find the percentage of the silymarin on their website, I asked them on social media and they DMed me the percentage. @@rashasarandah1695 I personally didn't find any noticeable difference on my skin. I slightly prefer the Phloretin, even though I don't use it anymore. I have stopped vitamin C, they don't agree with my skin.
There's nothing wrong with alcohol in skincare, you just need to be careful to not use too much and also be careful if you find it drying or irritating. This product was made for oily skin so they added it because the original C E Ferulic Serum is very oily and too heavy for people with oily skin, so as someone with oily skin I appreciate the alcohol.
It is slightly tacky I agree but I always apply things on top so it is ok but should be the first thing you apply so it absorbs deeply, do you find it leaves a matte finish?

I’ve also seen the actual herb sold as well. I was thinking about buying some dried to infuse in a DIY toner:) Thanks a bunch, girlie🍃🌸

Have you tried any of the vitamin c from makeup revolution? My local cvs had some of their makeup and skin care and I was thinking about their vit c since it’s under 20 bucks but I wanted to ask you and do some research before I bought it
Yes I have! So they have a few different fomulations- I think 3%, 12% and 20% and I noticed the same issue with each of them. I do like that they use ascorbic acid, which is the effective form of vitamin c. What I didn't like is that each of them contains orange peel oil, limonene, and citral. So if you have sensitive skin it might be better to avoid- I was hoping that at least one of the versions would be fragrance free, but they all contain those three fragrance ingredients. I'm trying to think what other vitamin c serums CVS has that might be better options...
@@NOBSBeauty ok thank you! I’m glad I didn’t buy any bc I do have sensitive skin. I’m not sure if that cvs has the L’Oréal vit c in the tube that I’ve heard about on here.
