      So wish I did my own research before saying yes to my dermatologist’s pushing of this line. I bought $$$ of these products (especially when doc’s office hosted an event where Skinceutical reps offered a small discount - ugh!), thinking since doc recommended they must be the best. That was after spending $$$ on a laser treatment by doc, which ended up not being so effective. And same doc most recently prescribed hydroquinone treatment (which I started a month ago before coming across Dr. V’s recommendation against this product for POC) and a series of halo laser which would be even more $$$!!
      Oh, and my dermatologist is a WOC, south Asian no less. So who can you trust if you can’t trust a doctor pushing these products?! 🧐😒

    The reason why it's so overpriced is because they were the first company to find out the combination of Vit C Vit E and Ferulic Acid - at certain percentage and pH - provide superior antioxidant ativities. It's also patented under Duke Antioxidant patent, so for a while, they were the only company allowed to formulate this. (writing this on top of my head, might be untrue)

I've fallen for it so many times. Now that I'm doing my own research such as watching Dr V's videos, I'm able to learn more about what I'm putting on my skin and what to look out for/avoid. 3. How to identify congested skin ? Do we have to act on it through out the day ?
    4. Eczema product recommendation for kids .

    CE is expensive because of the patent on the stabilization and delivery of L-ascorbic acid. As a doctor you would know vitamin c is very difficult to be absorbed by the body whether it’s topical or oral. I’ve tried many formulas of c from different brands. Nothing absorbs and layers as good as skinceuticals regardless of the price. The good news is patent expires at 2025. We all know what will happen after that! I just came across your channel and really enjoy your content as I do have hyperpigmentation issues and you have answered a lot of questions I’ve been wondering. But I do think not everything is based on ingredients. It’s like saying Michelin star chefs cooked carrots taste the same as the ones from my kitchen 😂

    • @svideos5754
      @svideos5754 2 года назад +1

      I can’t speak for your kitchen but because a restaurant isn’t Michelin star doesn’t mean it’s necessarily better than other restaurants and home cooks. Same applies here. The price isn’t justified even with everything you laid out. $60 would be reasonable

      Exactly. They did the studies and paid for the research and the patent to ensure that its stable for 12-18 months in its current packaging. So I trust them. Really surprised and shocked as you have recommended the first product couple of times previously as a good vitamin C serum. Please be consistent!!

      I have listened to almost all her videos so far and as far as changing her opinion I actually find it to be a good thing. It is ok to admit that you were wrong before.
      I am under the impression that she recommended the ordinary, cetraben and cerave much more than anything else, they all happen to be inexpensive brands
      I actually find it very courageous that she addressed the fact that she was using makeup wipes and stopped using them afterwards. In the end, no one is perfect even doctors.

    • @azadehfardyar5025
      @azadehfardyar5025 4 года назад

      Paquita El Maestro Thanks for your comment. I don’t have any problem if some change her mind on shoes, clothes and etc. I strongly believe if your opinion is based on the science it should not be changed as the basics and fundamentals of science will not change over the time, as they are science. Two plus two is always four. If you change your science based opinion either you don’t fully understand the science behind it or your level of knowledge is not high enough to guide people. How it is possible that she recommends this product 2-3 months ago, and now she thinks is not a right product and it is too expensive. I would say there are so many influencers or dr and cosmetics formulator around and you should not follow them blindly for what they say!

    • @paquitaelmaestro1576
      @paquitaelmaestro1576 4 года назад

      Azadeh Fardyar you are absolutely right about the science aspect. As for a product being too expensive it is subjective, as what is expensive for one might not be for the other. I listened to the video again and the only part that confused me was when she wasn’t sure it was that effective. You are right no one should follow anyone blindly; personally I follow several doctors and scientists online in order to be more equipped information wise to form my own opinions. Have a good 😊

      @sja491 2 года назад

      I know it's so confusing. I watched this video first and she said there's nothing irritating about the first product (CE serum, which contains l'abscorbic acid).
      Then in another video she said to avoid l'abscorbic acid because it causes irritation. So inconsistent and confusing!
      Tbh it's better to get an actual dermatologists advice instead of going off the internet.

As a Parisian, I love that it helps my acne, smoothens my skin, is affordable and I hope it helps my hyperpigmentation (mix of Latina and red head family genes means I suffer both of sunspots, PIH and am at risk for melisma... 😥). It’s the most recommended here traditionally, but I see many other great options and am curious.
