The Indian military has three different styles of saluting. The Indian Army salutes with the an open palm facing the person being saluted. The middle finger either touches the headband or the right eyebrow. The Indian Navy salutes with the palm facing the ground at a 90 degree angle to the forehead. This is like the American form of saluting. It is said that this was done to hide grease on the hands of sailors. The Indian Airforce salutes with the palm at 45 degree angle to the ground represent rising from the ground to the sky.
I love how you guys almost maybe recorded it around 12:00 AM india time, even tho you weren't together but you thought it to be important to deliver this video today🥺 and that's why we love OSR❤️❤️... Happy Republic day everyone 🥳🥳🥳
culture of saluting flag comes from freedom fighters. People who fought for independence consist of both civilians and military. So, sentiment here is that we salute everyone who fought for independence and share responsibility to uphold and protect what they left us in 1947.
India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend and the great grand mother of tradition -Mark Twain.
The jump with the drum @4:42(called pung in Manipuri ) is a part of Pung Cholon traditional drum dance form from Manipur (North East state of India , part of the 7 sisters).Just mentioned cos the sub was not mentioned at that point . It is a very important national heritage dance form . Admired by many prominent Indian and international figures.
Goosebumps while listening to this song is 'normal'. Also, as I was going through the comments, one in particular by Dhruv Gupta listing the facts about Indian Constitution is very informative. There is something so unique about India so the uniqueness of the Constitution is but natural. Be a Proud Indian.
Rick... U picked it up so well.... We have tears in our eyes... Whenever we say jai hind, when we see the flag and when we sing the national anthem... U know we are passionate people😊
Kudos to those who are taking the time to teach Korbin about our culture and languages and names. Also, an Attaboy! to Korbin for putting in his time and effort to learn. You have come a long ways in the last two years. Now, if only we could teach them how to pronounce "Jai" properly. :D
Apart from salutes which differ. The costumes differ form region to region. Lighter towards south as it's hot. Heavier towards north. Colourful towards the deserts. We do it everyear. The Parade is one of its kind in the world.
Saluting culture isn’t only for military, civilians including school children salute during flag-hoistings too. The open-handed one (palm facing forward which the army uses too) is most common, and the slanting ones (palm facing down) are considered lighter, more jaunty salutes. People also salute playfully to friends/seniors as hi/bye, and (maybe somewhat sadly) the service workers such as drivers and watchmen commonly salute in respect to the upper class employers or customers in big stores too.
Let me state some facts for you to learn: 1. Declaration of "Poorn Swaraj" (Self rule) was proclaimed on 26 January 1930 at the banks of Ravi River in Lahore now in Pakistan in which a declaration was made by our freedom fighters, that India will attain freedom from British colonial rule on this date only. But the independence was granted on 15 August 1947 hence on 26 January, we decided to celebrate our Republic day when India promulgated its constitution, made by its people for themselves. 2. Indian constitution marks the scrapping of Government of India act 1935 made by Britishers. And on this very date i.e. on 26 January 1950, India's first president Dr. Rajendra Prasad was sworn in as President and on this date only the first ever guest to Witness Republic day parade was President of Indonesia Sukarno. 3. On this date only the office of Governor general of India was also abolished to form President of India's office. 4. It took 2 years, 11 months and 18 days to form the constitution which was approved on 26 November 1949. It was first signed by First President of India Rajendra Prasdd and last signed by Feroz Gandhi. Please note that final signature was done on 24 January 1950. Also it was written in calligraphic style by Prem Behari Narain Saxena for free of cost. 5. There are total 104 amendments in the Indian constitution, 395 articles and if you consider all sub articles then total number of articles stand at 448 in number with 25 parts and 12 schedules with 117,369 words in total on 251 pages. Thus making it the longest written constitution of any Nation. The very last article, article 395 repeals all prior acts made by British colonisers. 6. India is the largest democracy in the world whose 3 Pillars are Legislative, Executive, Judiciary. Indian constitution gives us freedom to live, go anywhere in India, Right to constitutional remedies, Justice, social equality. Right to freedom of education, right to freedom of movement and most importantly Right to Life with respect and save us from any exploitation or discrimination. 7. Indian constitution started to take its shape on 9 December 1946 by setting up constituent assembly headed by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, total INR 63 Million were spent on making this constitution. I hope this helps. Jai Hind Edit: An important fact is that the first sitting session took place on 9 December 1946 for the constitution and last sitting took place between November 14-26, 1949. Total 11 sessions were organised, initially 2473 amendments were made after endless discussions and debates. It is now preserved in a Helium case in Indian parliament which is also the Temple of Indian democracy.
