For people, who say, that dent repair guys looks like he is not happy about something. When you have a business, advertising is super important! I dont think he was unhappy or something like that, because when big youtube channel showing your business and work, you cant ask for better advertising. Scotty, I'm a diesel mechanic, heavy duty and truck and transport. I must say I do enjoy watching your videos, where I work i find a couple videos do help sometimes to get another mechanics opinion on some mistakes, and they are very helpful when it comes to gasoline engines, where sometimes im not the greatest expert everyone thinks I am. Thanks Scotty!
The guys from Dent Dogs are great! Dan from Dent Dogs worked on my car before and honestly I can't tell the dents were ever there! and I'm very OCD about my car too. If you're in the Houston area, I would definitely recommend them all day
"Some evil swine." 😂 I love the channel Scotty! Been watching for years and always come here when something goes wrong on my cars. I even stop by when nothing's wrong. Thanks for all the help over the years!
I love the paintless dent removal, I've used them before and they are not very expensive. I'm sure this guy is getting a lot of business now as well due to you advertising him.
its even true for professionals, who know their limitations and call for help when needed. They may be a pro but they may run into cases where what they're dealing with they have not personally seen or dealt with before in that case the pro needs to call a pro LOL.
If a job is beyond your abilities at the moment it’s not suddenly going to be within your abilities sporadically at some point in the future if you just sit back and proclaim defeat... you learn things you currently do not know how to do by learning to do things that you currently do not know how to do and you do this by doing it
Top subject Scotty, as a panel beater/spraypainter I'm finding this method to be a cost saver but it's a must to have all the tools and not just pretend anything will do the job, otherwise it will cost more to repair in the end.
depending on the level you need the dent taken out to, sometimes a 35 dollar disount tool dolly and hammer set can take out these too. My cars are mostly beater cars and would be a good car for those wanting to practice dent removal to come over and learn the craft on:)
Very smart of you Scotty to make a video of the guy fixing the dent. You paid for the repair many times over with RUclips advertising revenue from over 3 million views!
South Main Auto Repair us locksmiths have a fee like that lol, basically whatever the customer touches is beyond repair and has to be replaced instead of repaired in 99.999% of cases
South Main Auto Repair lol I know that romex thing, look on my channel, the used car dealer used lamp cord to rewire my stereo before I bought it, had spiked several fuses and still couldn't find the right fuse to fix the headlights so they ran the high and low lamps off the parking light circuit which still didn't work because they spiked the fuse but the wire melted..
South Main Auto Repair lol small things matter, I saw scotty hit a key with a hammer once to fix a stuck ign and it made me cringe. I do sometimes tap a key to get it going to turn on so I can remove the ignition, but never with anything heavier than holding a screwdriver by the bit end and tapping (very very lightly, less is more remember) the key with the handle... less is more with locks in all manners of speaking. Thats why I named my business "the lock whisperer"
9 out of 10 times anyways I simply re cut the key to factory specifications and the locks work perfectly fine again. But those locks you have to fight with to turn on should never be turned off again until you remove them if they come out like 99% of modern cars. We used to love the pre 94 gm cars because we could remove the steering wheel with non powered hand tools and pull the lock out and replace it in about 15 min and get anyone going no matter if the lock was fubar, gummed up or lost keys... tell me, does your shop service vats equipped gm cars? You must know what a pita that caused, though it reduced car theft by 75% across the usa at the time of it's introduction.
99% of the time it is either the contact springs are worn, or the wires to the ignition are broken on paskey 1 type. They do not lend well to tampering and no one will ever tell you this, but they are sensitive to resistance changes of ~1 ohm and there is no way whatsoever to make a reliable repair on them by splicing or soldering wires. The entire wire assembly must be replaced and carefully fished down the steering coloum before being plugged into the connector under the kick panel. One of the huge problems the system has is that if the system picks up rhe right key and starts, but either one of the wires get disconnected after 60 seconds of the car running, the vats system goes to "sleep" and will re activate when it next detects a valid resistance, or when the battery goes flat, then she won't start til it reads a valid resistance, and if its intermittent it won't work for 3 minutes. Every subsequent attempt to start will add 3 minutes on top of that wait with no way to bypass.
Good to know Scotty Kilmer sometimes DIY is not always possible and you have to call a pro. Though I think he could have finished faster than 2 hours. You always work a little slower with someone watching.
Great vid Scott! I had a 95 Ford Thunderbird that got blasted during a hail storm in 2003, and I found a great PDR company here in Plano that made the car look like it had never been hit by anything. Best $4000 my insurance company ever spent!
I like the look on the Dent Dog's his face at the beginning: "Oh shit.... this is going to get annoying really fast. Where are my headphones." 5 min later "DAMN IT! It's not helping!"
PDR is a real awesome skill to have, i purchased a PDR kit a couple of years ago and have not had the time practice on a hood or fender, i have had work done on my black Chrysler 300 from a pdr guy and wow what a awesome job they can do, it is really amazing what kind of repairs they can achieve with this system.
that is superb. didn't even realise such a service existed to be honest. thanks for bringing this to my attention scotty great job. are you still sure you don't want to move to England?
Paintless dent removal is an art & can fetch a handsome money, dent removal guys are awesome magicians they can catch attention of car lovers & they can also get easy TV channel video footage.
It's amazing what they can do these days without drilling and Bondo. I had a front fender fixed this way about 10 years ago and was amazed. Most pros shops use special lights to help check the accuracy/smoothness at an angle.
dang you guys talking smack about Scotty. yeah dude is loud and can sound energetic but dude loves what he does and you can tell he enjoys making these videos knowing he is helping others. Dam internet bullies are the worst. Keep it up Scotty because I'm sure every person that is being a complete jerk has used some of your advice or has ran into your videos looking for advice at least once. thanks for helping and putting these up for free.
That was badass. i will learn this. LOL I have plenty of messed up cars to practice on. i am off to ebay and where ever else i need to go to buy cheap tools to push and pull and bang with. this will be a very handy thing to know how to do. Thanks again.
"How did you learn how hard to hit it?" Well, there's multiple answers. However, when you hit it just right, and you hear that "oh god" type of moaning, then you already know that you hit it just right...
Last time I had it done on a dent that took two hours was around $150. It's practically all labor hour charge and the cost just depends on how long it takes. The big plus is though if the car is young you save the OE paint and clearcoat which is big value retention.
Scotty Kilmer $140 is worth every penny. Sure beats some of the body shop hacks who will charge a lot more only to end up rusting in a couple of years.
The guy did a nice job from what I can tell. We have Dent Doctors here that do the same work, but I have no idea what they charge. I have a few small dents in my 2000 Prelude I want taken care of this spring. Should be interesting.
Except I'm not so sure about that heat gun against the paint. The results may look fine now, but in a few months it may wrinkle, peal, etc. I think I'd rather have the dent. Any time you try and remove a dent, you are going to cause paint damage, whether it cracks, peals, etc. There's no way around it. That is unless you have a primer gray car then its easy, another can of primer and a bit of sanding after you are done getting the dent out.
and i like about car sim it gives me problems to solve, like math problems, without useing no math by useing good common sence, and not lieing to ourself
mechic sims reminds me of work at jobs also, the job part is mess up doing to job is good, now they screen you they certifie you they lable you and i dont have nothing, as i am working there people have have to sertifications, there compley dumbass and really dont know what there doing, and i am a dumbass and know i am a dumbass figure things, if had a chance to figure out thing i could make it , but have to bow down to managers that dont really know what there doing,
Scott lived for free in my unfinished home that was still being constructed, in San Clemente in the late 1980s. He was doing some framing construction work on my home. I hope that he is happy now.
That swine must have been my father. He seems to love fucking people over with false promises. Like the time I never went to Disneyland or when he said he'd take me out to play some catch.
Paintless dent removal does take a lot of labor and patience but it is worth it when all you can see is the dent every time you approach your lovely new car.
Hoola Scotty: He visto cada uno de tus videos y estoy impresionado de la sencillez y honestidad de tus comentarios y conocimiento. un fan tuyo desde Xalapa en México. Hi Scotty: I have seen all your videos and i´m impressed with the simplicity and honesty of your comments and knowledge. A real fan from Xalapa,Mexico.
+Kyle Ritchie obviously you don't live in houston and have never paid for a new fender and then having it painted and the paint doesn't match the rest of the car then. It costs tons more, on this car, 700 bucks
+Scotty Kilmer You just dont know what kind of cars we get repaired here in our country and paint matches 95% of the time. Repair is pretty cheap here.
+Huzaifa Haroon sure, but I'm in Texas, and body work here it pretty expensive due in part to government regulations kicking out all the little guys doing it in small garages
+Scotty Kilmer yes, I've heard that the government regulations are very strict in the U.S.A. Here, mostly accidental write off cars are imported, repaired. Fiber replicas dashboard and steering installed to cover blown airbags. Sold as all original. Check out my thread Accidnetal Jdms exposed on Pakwheels to get an idea of how expert people we have here to repair the cars :D and How we paint cars in open air
This is a very good alternative to traditional body work when dents are not too severe. Many body shops now have these guys on their payroll to reduce the labor time on larger dents and to take care of smaller ones. It is a win win for the customer as well it is cheaper than traditional body work and the factory finish is not being disturbed so you don't have to worry about color match or future corrosion. Unfortunately a lot of body shops will try to talk people out of this type of repair in fear of it hurting their bottom line.
+Josh427SS you're right. some cars are more expensive than others. But for common cars, you could find the right color fender and its only a few bolts to take it off.

Scotty Kilmer terrific process
Scotty Kilmer
.
Scotty Kilmer looks like millennials won’t be able to do this.
at least we didn't destroy the entire planet for our children's children's children in the name of the almighty dollar
This guy is an artist.. this takes a lot of skill and patience, not only dealing with the dent, but also the people..
That dent repair guy is obviously thrilled by the unique chance to appear in a Scotty Kilmer video.
Martin Fiala No he's just not easily impressed by people.
in other words NFG
He’s just working lol
Moving Chicane I don't he'll be coming back again. 😂😂bet he's moved business to another state. 😂😂😂
Hahaha😂
Lol the guy be like: Please I just want to do my job peacefully.
haha that guy looks like oh god a crazy man with a camera
***** he was pobably just not too camera happy
***** I'm a camera and i think i am better than the body artist and the camera guy
Billy H. WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
E. MAN WOOOO!!!!!!!!
PDR is a real art. Some people can never do it. This guy will always have a job! Imagine the cash you could make doing this on the side!
On the side of what? (see what I did there.)
For people, who say, that dent repair guys looks like he is not happy about something. When you have a business, advertising is super important!

Scotty I went to PDR school and it's not easy it takes a while the pdr guy can tell you LOTS OF PRACTICE
This doesn't teach how to take out dents, it teaches you to call a guy to do it.
mack cummy ...as you definitely should seek out a professional for this type of repair 👍🏻
Know your limitations I suppose 👍
technically he also showed the process for doing it, so if you have the skill go ahead and DIY
@@danielj5650
Yep 😁
@@harwoods11 Scotty was smart enough to say, "I don't know".
Scotty made the dent guy day by making this video never seen anyone happier being asked questions
Paintless dent repair guys are magicians.

Scotty - "Did you ever think about a career in percussion?"

I'M IMPRESSED WITH THE DENTLESS REPAIR...IT LOOKS GOOD AS NEW.
Scotty is the nuardwar of the mechanic industry
I love the paintless dent removal, I've used them before and they are not very expensive. I'm sure this guy is getting a lot of business now as well due to you advertising him.
I like these quick videos, not all talk like that other channel we all know about on here.
Truly an art form, this takes patience beyond my own
This is amazing, that was a bad dent, not just a tiny ding. And no grinding through the galvanize and having to repaint.
2:12 he almost got up and left.
Not really
🤣🤣🤣
A Real Specialty Trade I didn't even realize existed. Thanks Scotty
The best ability any DIY person can have is the ability to know which jobs are beyond your skill-set and should be left to the professionals.

My brother has his own PDR biz, it's seriously a skill. It takes a good 12 mo to learn to do it right and years to perfect.

scotty kilmer is ALLRIGHT!
It takes about 5 to 7 years of full-time practice to become a good professional dent technician. Be careful who you go to for this type of service.

Nice, he did one hell of a job. But how much does a job like that run? I'm like you Scotty, not artistically inclined lol.
Last time I had it done on a dent that took two hours was around $150. It's practically all labor hour charge and the cost just depends on how long it takes. The big plus is though if the car is young you save the OE paint and clearcoat which is big value retention.
Cragified 140 bucks in this case
Ya that's not bad considering the time they have to take, the labor, and you are saving a ton. Thanks guys.
Scotty Kilmer $140 is worth every penny. Sure beats some of the body shop hacks who will charge a lot more only to end up rusting in a couple of years.
Scotty Kilmer For $140, I'd say that is worth it to have your car look good.
That is unless you have a primer gray car then its easy, another can of primer and a bit of sanding after you are done getting the dent out.
wow that was some major skill there...any hint on the $$ to fix that Scotty?
140 bucks in this two hour job
forget the 140 bucks, i just do the job and everyone leave happy

Scotty Kilmer great work, you got me interested in mechanics again,
Paintless dent removal does take a lot of labor and patience but it is worth it when all you can see is the dent every time you approach your lovely new car.
don't get mad get glad
Great vid as usual Scotty
Hope that dent guy charged you double for annoying the shit out of him.
no , he agreed to filming it all in the first place And I paid him cash
@Will Baack you're an ass i hope you're not like this all the time
Scotty Kilmer you tell him Scotty.
How much did that cost? I'm looking at a similar repair.

Dang, wouldn't the labor have cost more than just getting a new fender?
+Kyle Ritchie obviously you don't live in houston and have never paid for a new fender and then having it painted and the paint doesn't match the rest of the car then. It costs tons more, on this car, 700 bucks
I wasn't trying to be rude, I was just curious.
Check out my thread
Accidnetal Jdms exposed on Pakwheels to get an idea of how expert people we have here to repair the cars :D
and How we paint cars in open air
hell yea man i need this!! having a black car and all. thanks!!!!!
but what about little knicks and tiny dents?
Guitary Life
they are even easier for these guys to pop out
I see Ryan Fitzpatrick finally found his true calling. NFL QB was not it.
Unfortunately a lot of body shops will try to talk people out of this type of repair in fear of it hurting their bottom line.
ohhh Scotty !!! you could at least give him some free advertising like a phone number at least
they didn't want it
the dent guy did a fantastic job!
what's charge on a Lil job like that
160
scotty kilmer you would make an excellent cartoon voice over actor!.
but excellent advice and a good vid too ; )
What was the cost for this?
160 bucks
For 160 I can buy a new fender. In fact, I can buy 2 fenders. :)
Okay, but what about paint and labor
+Josh427SS you're right. some cars are more expensive than others. But for common cars, you could find the right color fender and its only a few bolts to take it off.

Even though the car might share the same paint code, it might wear down differently and be completely noticeable

and that same logic applies to detailing, go from the least aggressive clean and step it up if that is not working to more aggressive methods
